Applications :: Trying To Switch Email Program From Thunderbird To The Mac Email Program Mail?
Jun 25, 2009I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!

Dec 21, 2010I use the Mac mail application on my Macbook Pro. Running OS X 10.6.5. I have several email accounts. 2 of them are aol accounts (IMAP). For some reason, for the past 2 days, when I send an email from those aol accounts, even though the email goes through, the email does not show up in my SENT folder. I know the email goes through because I receive replies from the recipient.
My 2 other email accounts (not aol) don't have that problem. Once again, this just started suddenly, 2 days ago (only with aol accounts)
When I highlight the SENT folder in the sidebar - and then go to the MAILBOX pulldown menu - and select USE THIS MAILBOX FOR - the options are all grey. I can't select them.

Mar 15, 2008I run iMac OS X version 10.5.2. Have the usual Mac Mail program, working through Embarq. There is also an email program installed by the Mac staff where I bought machine, which works off Safari, which has been set to open its first page on the Embarq page. Finally, also on advice of Mac staff, I have email program in Thunderbird from Mozilla. That seems easiest to use, but all the files holding addresses and group lists are on one of the other two. Have tried to move them to Thunderbird. No luck. Wont work. Would like to combine them all on Thunderbird. Could someone suggest if this is possible, so as to avoid adding new addresses (over 400 at this point) one at a time?

However I have recently been using Postbox and I rather like it, so I have sidelined Mail.
Problems arise when I schedule reminders and invitations from iCal - it immediately wants to start up the Mail program and not Postbox.
At the moment I am running the two email programs alongside each other which really isn't practical.

Sep 7, 2014My mail program seems to be slow. I'm not sure why. I get the spinning ball frequently. I need to save mail messages sometimes for a few years and there are hundreds of emails. Is it better to save them on my computer than my mail program? I may need to retrieve them at some other time so they need to be readable. Is that possible?
I'm using OS X 10.9.4. I have a 3.06 GHz processor and 12 GB of memory.

When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.

when I tab the new e-mail icon it only checks for a 1/10 of a second not enough time to check server so i shut down e-mail restart and finds new email

Apr 9, 2012I installed a small program which I now can't get rid of. The program is called Imac fan control. The package does have uninstall instructions, but these don't seem to work in Lion. I've asked the developers for help, but this being freeware, they don't offer any support. Can anyone tell me whether the program will be deleted if I use time machine to go back to the day before it was installed?

Mar 2, 2012I am running 10.7.3, and I am trying to get Mackie Tracktion 3 up and running on my Mac. I've been told tha T3 works on previous version of the Mac OS, but not the last few updates. Is there any way that I can run this program in a compatibility mode, or revert my OS to a version that supports T3?
