Aight, the thing is he got an UNIX-file, he want to install. I found out, that Fink are very useful here. However, we could install Fink, but not the UNIX archive. So here it goes. Simple question: How do you install an UNIX archive using Fink?

i have a exhd full of applications that i have downloaded over the past few years.
on my new macbook its running snow leopard but my old mbp it was running leopard.
so i check out my external hd and its seems that all my dmg files are now unix exec.
I installed the 30 trial of adobe and now I want to delete them. Is it as simple as moving them to the trash can? Will that complete rid my system of their files? Or do you do it another way?

I can't find one, free or otherwise, that works well and takes less than an hour and a half. This includes idvd. I will never own another type of computer, and I don't miss PC, but my acer could burn a quality dvd in 45 minutes.

I installed a scanner driver (Musteck A3 600 USb scanner) and found it so dame useless and frustrating that I went out and bought an epson 10000XL scanner (even sharper than my V700). which has a very good driver (I use silverfast for my Epson V700)
but this dam musteck driver still shows up in Photoshops Input list. (there was no uninstaller on the mustek disk. and it is one of the most useless things I have ever bought)
if i take the Twain plug in out of the Photoshop plugin inputs folder, the the Epson Scan is no longer on the input list..
I have tried looking for where this bloody scanner driver is to remove it but cant find it.
is there any search program that will actually look inside the system and library folders to find files.
Was trying to find a good Synthesizer program for the Mac. Just learning and wondering if there was a good program to practice with.

The "downloading steps" first instruct me to go to my APPLE ICON, Select SYSTEM PREFERENCES, and then select the QUICKTIME icon.... But I can't find the Quicktime Icon. It's not there. Yes, I already have the Quicktime 7 application. So WHY won't it show up in my System Preferences?!

It probably is the most stupid question ever... but I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2004 on a disc (it is not the original one which is a long story) and can use it at the moment from the disc on my Macbook Pro laptop OSX 10.6.8, although I have yet to figure out how to actually install it onto the hard drive.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI don't know the exact specs of my computer but it is the macbook just before the new ones came out from stock, so no parts are replaced/upgraded. Literally 10 minutes ago my computer was running fine and I was installing this program called JACK because one of my audio programs I run needed it. So after I installed it told me to restart so I did. then when I did it booted up into my empty windows partion, now it's a long story why I have a partion without windows installed but we can talk about that later. So naturally I was like "crap" and restarted but I forgot which button was to choose the start up disk so I held control-option-command hoping one of them would register... nothing happens. And now whenever I try to restart my computer I just get to the gray screen. I have tried every safe-startup-command-line thing out there and I don't get past the grey screen. If I hold down option/alt then I get a mouse(yay) but nothing else. If I hold down the mouse button then I get stuck at the apple symbol. So my question is if anyone has had similar problems and has fixed them. Oh ya, I also don't have my install disk with me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new IMac 20 for my home office and I had it set up from MacMall with a number of pieces of software including Parallels and Windows XP Home. I really want this Mac to work (I love my MacBook Pro), but I can't seem to load a piece of Windows software that I HAVE to be able to use. After I put the disc in I keep getting the same error message "The application failed to initialize properly (0x000135). Click OK to terminate." I have tried this same disc in a few pc's and it works fine.....so it has to be my new Mac. BTW the software is something I use that is specific to the funeral industry and the vendor does not support MAC, so I have to work this out on my own.

I downloaded the update for iTunes but I can't load it because it tells me to close the iTunes program. The only thing I tried to do was the install. I din't have iTunes open, but when I try to install it opens it. Also won't respond to trying to find out which version i have ot any other info . I had to close it buy using the atctivity monitor and forcing it closed. I just upgraded to lion the other day and have been trying to get this set up to work with the cloud which it did.
