OS X V10.7 Lion :: After Update 10.7.4 Screensavers Disappeared?
May 10, 2012
After updating to 10.7.4 & Safari 5.1.7 all my screensavers have disappered from System Prefrences. The Screensavers are still in their appropriate folders in "Finder" I have tried a few suggestion from other blogs but still no luck, hoping someone here can help.Â
Other but less important changes also occurred after the updates. 1) changed my (custom) log-in screen back to default. 2) removed "Library" from Finder ( I had Library in Finder via terminal command. 3) replaced my custom dock back to default dock.
I've been using the [URL] Screensavers since my very first RevA MBA and I really like them. They protect the screen from keyboard scratches and indents and they're a cloth to wipe off any smudges. Sadly, the Radtech store doesn't yet have one for the 11.6 MBA and customer support didn't know when they would.
So I did a little measuring and ordered a custom sized one.
11"x7" (I picked the "grape" color)
And it fits perfectly. Exactly covers the keyboard and the trackpad, yet still lets the lid close just right.
So if anybody else can't wait, just order an 11"x7" custom.
(I'm not in any way affiliated with Radtech, I just love their products.)
It seems that all of the older screensavers I've tried in SL no longer work. The one I love, BlankScreen, which dims the monitor to a transparency that allows you to still see the desktop (and toggle the transparency amount) is one of them. My question is, will this be a matter of the app-maker updating the screensaver, or Apple updating SL to support these older screensavers? I ask because this one hasn't been updated for a few years now. Alternatively, does anyone know of another screensaver that does the same thing, that does work in SL? Is anyone here knowledgeable enough to be able to make a new screensaver that has the same functionality?
Recently I noticed that my screensaver changed by itself. So I went to go change it and realized that the only screensavers I had were "Computer Name" and "Flurry". I know this is kind of a stupid question to ask but its bugging me.
All of a sudden my iMac has just started not sleeping after the time its supposed to and the screensaver wont turn on when its supposed to. I havent installed any new software, its just happened out of the blue, I can still use hot corners to activate sleep and the screensaver but id rather have them activate by themselves. But they're not, and all of my System Preference's sleep and screensaver options are fine. Why wont my Mac sleep and/or turn on the screensaver after set times?
It seems Snow Leopard breaks most of the 3rd party screensavers that are out there. How can I fix this? Can i run just the screensavers in 32 bit mode?
Im looking for two screensavers, one being a fireplace and one an aquarium. They gotta be 3D and look rather realistic. I can only find crap or expensive stuff on google. I think I had the trial of the one on apple.com but the text running across kinda kills it.
Just bought a new Macbook and everything's great except the screensaver facility. I'm primarily using the one that previews album covers from itunes, but it doesn't really matter which one I use. They all cancel themselves after a few seconds as though the trackpad's been activated, even though I'm nowhere near it.
I've obviously tried restarting to see if it makes a difference and it usually does for about an hour. The screensaver comes on and stays on. But I'll do some work and check it again later by activating a hot corner and it quits again after a few seconds like before.
This is hardly the end of the world, but it is pretty annoying. Anybody else had this happen on Snow Leopard and is there a way to fix it?
So when I had Leopard 10.5, I used to use Save Hollywood as my screensaver application. What that does is transform any video file that you have in a screensaver. After Snow Leopard came out, Save Hollywood no longer works... I don't know what else to do, that was a must have for me and it is starting to frustrate me. Is there any other software that would allow me to use a video file as a screensaver that would work on Snow Leopard. Has Apple fixed this issue on 10.6.3?
After re-installing Lion, my login accounts disappeared.I can only see the Guest account. However, when I boot with Windows, I can see the directories of my accounts.Currently, I can't login Mac OS.

I was trying to share this folder, which resides in my secondary hdd. Since i find it too **** hard to share some folders with a windows pc, i guess i messed up some stuff somehow. I tried creating user names, changing share settings but NOTHING worked! The share window is just ridiculous! But anyway That's not my main problem now.Every single file that in that folder i tried to share is gone now. The subfolders are there, but the files are gone. And not deleted; gone. Because i can see and open them with the Pathfinder application. Also can see them under bootcamped Windows. And yes, hidden files are shown at the moment.
When I purchased my MBPro last year, it was given a free upgrade to OSX Lion. Sometime later that "purchase" disappeared from the list of other purchases I've made at the App store. My question is how to restore it to the list of purchases.

I'm using Apple Mail 5.2 on a MacBook Pro 13" with OS 10.7.3. I have 4 email accounts (3 x exchange and 1 x POP). The sent box for one of my exchange accounts has disappeared from the 'Sent' list, where all my account's sent boxes are listed. It is visible on my iphone, which makes me think it is a Mail issue rather than a server issue. I've tried restarting the app and rebuilding the mailbox but nothing will make it reappear.
The dock and toolbar at the top have disappeared from the screen. They re-appear when I click in the area where they should be but disappear once again whenever I click elsewhere. I have also lost the ability to minimize open windows. I can resize them manually, maximize and exit them I just cannot minimize them! (The orange button has gone grey.)
I have checked that I am not in fullscreen mode and I have unchecked all the automatic hide settings in the system preferences. This is only occuring when I'm using Mozilla Firefox.
I have a feeling that I accidentally clicked a button or unwittingly used a keyboard command to enter this setting, but I can't remember what I pressed!Â
Today, with no major changes at all (or downloads), The screen on my MBP no longer shows the files, folders, and aliases I had set up. Only the Hardrive and Idisk Icons. Everything else is GONE? I rebooted, I relaunched, reviewed preferences. Nothing. I also repaired permissions and rebooted.
If I use Finder and drill to the desktop, I definitely SEE all the files aliases, etc. But the don't show up on my screen?
Finder has been hanging recently, causing other apps (and sometimes the whole system) to become unresponsive. i googled for fixes, and followed a suggestion to reboot into Safe Mode, navigate through a few directories in Finder, then restart normally. having done this, i now find that Chrome's settings and bookmarks have been wiped and my contacts and calendars have gone AWOL; it seems that most of the subdirectories under ~/Library/Application Support have disappeared, taking my Calendars, Contacts, etc. with them...
And when I went to find the Lib plist file to delete it, I had no Library Folder in my user folder. This was repaired with Disk Utility. Aren't I supposed to have a Lib Folder in my User Fole

I created a folder in my favourites bar and on my Dock next to my download folder, which had a combination of picture and word documents. I noticed this morning the folder is now just a ? I cannot locate any of my files anywhere and I know i didnt delete the folder.
For some unknown reason, all my iCloud Mails that were in my inbox on my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad have disappeared without me actually deleting them. When checking on icloud.com the mails are not there neither. How can this happen all sudden? All my Mails in the Sent Folder are still there. I am using the latest software on all my devices.
