OS X :: Snow Leopard Breaks Screensavers?
Sep 7, 2009It seems Snow Leopard breaks most of the 3rd party screensavers that are out there. How can I fix this? Can i run just the screensavers in 32 bit mode?

Apr 24, 2010So when I had Leopard 10.5, I used to use Save Hollywood as my screensaver application. What that does is transform any video file that you have in a screensaver. After Snow Leopard came out, Save Hollywood no longer works... I don't know what else to do, that was a must have for me and it is starting to frustrate me. Is there any other software that would allow me to use a video file as a screensaver that would work on Snow Leopard. Has Apple fixed this issue on 10.6.3?

Sep 9, 2009The new iPhoto 8.1 update breaks the email functionality to Entourage 2008, if you're using Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. iPhoto 8.1 can no longer successfully email photos to Entourage 2008. It worked just fine with iPhoto 8.0.4, but no longer works with iPhoto 8.1. This is a SNOW LEOPARD PROBLEM... it works just fine under LEOPARD. The steps to reproduce this problem are as follows:
1. Change iPhoto's preferences to use Entourage as your email client.
2. Choose a photo.
3. Click on the "Email" button.
You will get an error message from the Finder that states "Microsoft Entourage got an error. Can't get content of window'". So you are not able to email a photo through Entourage this way anymore. You have to do it manually.
ITunes :: 10.6 Update Breaks Links To Personal Libraries In Snow Leopard?
Mar 29, 2012After updating to iTunes 10.6 I can no longer open up Mail, iPhoto, Garage Band, none of my contacts display in Address Book. It is like this new update has broken all the internal links to my libraries. I have an older MacBook running Snow Leopard.Â

MacBook Air :: Looking For A Screensavers For The 11.6?
Nov 2, 2010I've been using the [URL] Screensavers since my very first RevA MBA and I really like them. They protect the screen from keyboard scratches and indents and they're a cloth to wipe off any smudges. Sadly, the Radtech store doesn't yet have one for the 11.6 MBA and customer support didn't know when they would.
So I did a little measuring and ordered a custom sized one.
11"x7" (I picked the "grape" color)
And it fits perfectly. Exactly covers the keyboard and the trackpad, yet still lets the lid close just right.
So if anybody else can't wait, just order an 11"x7" custom.
(I'm not in any way affiliated with Radtech, I just love their products.)
OS X :: Old Screensavers That Will Not Work In SL?
Aug 29, 2009It seems that all of the older screensavers I've tried in SL no longer work. The one I love, BlankScreen, which dims the monitor to a transparency that allows you to still see the desktop (and toggle the transparency amount) is one of them. My question is, will this be a matter of the app-maker updating the screensaver, or Apple updating SL to support these older screensavers? I ask because this one hasn't been updated for a few years now. Alternatively, does anyone know of another screensaver that does the same thing, that does work in SL? Is anyone here knowledgeable enough to be able to make a new screensaver that has the same functionality?

IMac :: Not Sleeping And Screensavers Not Activating?
May 1, 2009All of a sudden my iMac has just started not sleeping after the time its supposed to and the screensaver wont turn on when its supposed to. I havent installed any new software, its just happened out of the blue, I can still use hot corners to activate sleep and the screensaver but id rather have them activate by themselves. But they're not, and all of my System Preference's sleep and screensaver options are fine. Why wont my Mac sleep and/or turn on the screensaver after set times?

Dec 14, 2010Just bought a new Macbook and everything's great except the screensaver facility. I'm primarily using the one that previews album covers from itunes, but it doesn't really matter which one I use. They all cancel themselves after a few seconds as though the trackpad's been activated, even though I'm nowhere near it.
I've obviously tried restarting to see if it makes a difference and it usually does for about an hour. The screensaver comes on and stays on. But I'll do some work and check it again later by activating a hot corner and it quits again after a few seconds like before.
This is hardly the end of the world, but it is pretty annoying. Anybody else had this happen on Snow Leopard and is there a way to fix it?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: After Update 10.7.4 Screensavers Disappeared?
May 10, 2012After updating to 10.7.4 & Safari 5.1.7 all my screensavers have disappered from System Prefrences. The Screensavers are still in their appropriate folders in "Finder" I have tried a few suggestion from other blogs but still no luck, hoping someone here can help.Â
Other but less important changes also occurred after the updates. 1) changed my (custom) log-in screen back to default. 2) removed "Library" from Finder ( I had Library in Finder via terminal command. 3) replaced my custom dock back to default dock.

Jun 13, 2009... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.

I have Snow Leopard installed as a partition on my Macbook Pro, which I installed via the install disk. I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.

May 30, 2012Upgraded to 10.7.4 today, and now,when trying to authenticate to existing WEP networks, OSX is mistakenly recognizing them as WEP Enterprise encryption. These networks still work fine on my Droid using normal WEP, so I can confirm that the network was not reconfigured.Â

Mar 26, 2009I have just installed the iPhoto 8.0.2 update on my Powerbook G4 and, after 5 seconds of opening the application, it crashes/hangs. I have to force quit it in order to exit out of it. I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Software Update After Snow Leopard Clean Install
Jul 3, 2012Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store).When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March.In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update.This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto).The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?

MacBook Pro :: Image Breaks Up Into Different Blocks On Display
Sep 24, 2010So my screen is giving me issue, not so much the physical screen, but the actual image on my display. I took some screen shots. I assume its something related to the graphics card, but I'd love more info. The screen shots didn't end up working, they came out all black. But basically the image breaks up into a difference blocks, then reorganizes itself. You can see it repeats sections of the Window, but makes it impossible to try to work. Or sometimes part of a Safari Window will stay "on top" of any other Window.

Feb 9, 2012Under Lion, there are lots of Java applets that I can't get to work.For instance, most of these just show solid white:[URL]I can tell that they're loading, because a few of them produce console output I can see in Java Console.Also, a few of them display some GUI elements.But mostly, they're blank.I've encountered lots of other applets, not Java3D, which also don't work.There's a lot of code rot going on due to Apple abandoning Java on the Mac and Oracle not picking it up.I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any tweaks I could make to the system to get these to work.I do, of course, have Java applets enabled in Java Preferences.

Aug 30, 2010I have a macbook pro (identifier MacBookPro 5,1) which I have been happily using for about 18 months, however recently the screen has been acting up. It will occasionally display lines one pixel wide, but over the whole screen (it's quite difficult to describe so I've attached a photo). This happens seemingly out of the blue, probably once every few hours of normal use, and the only way I've been able to get it to go away is to close the laptop, then open it again - Sometimes it only takes a few goes for this fix to work, sometimes a a lot.

Jan 24, 2009I use Belkin N1 (firmware F5D8231-4_WW_4.00.18) router to connect to Internet. For some time (it happened 3 weeks ago, although everything worked fine for about a year, I did install update of EFI firmware for Mac on that day) the connection breaks (the Airport officially is ON and does not report any problems, so is e.g. skype, but it is not, I need to turn off Airport and turn it on again for it to go online again). Sometimes it happens once a day and sometimes every half an hour.
Laptop (with Windows Vista) works at the same time (connecting also wireless) without breaking.
Strange is that when somebody uploads a file via skype it is still working although browser is not, also i can chat with people on skype, only after restart an airport browser starts to work again.

Mar 31, 2010I prefer seeing my music list sorted by artist's last name. I have gone through and changed all of the Sort Artist fields to lastname, firstname. The new iTunes update has broken this view. When using the Artists column view, Al Green and Adam Sandler are now listed in the goddamn A's.

Feb 3, 2012Seeing video driver issues with the 10.7.3 upgrade? My monitor now looks like this (not sure why the pic upside down). This happened after the download from software update, re-applying the combo pack, and re-installing 10.7.0 and applying the 10.7.3 combo pack. I'm not in the process of reinstalling again and will apply the 10.7.2 update.

Feb 15, 2012I'm running Lion 10.7.3 on my iMac and Macbook Air. I upgrade 1Password to the latest build (3.8.16) on my iMac last week but didn't use safari on it until yesterday when I noticed that Safari just opens blank with a spinning beachball? Not a major problem as I've been using my Air..... but just now when I also upgrade 1Password on the Air, Safari stops working and same issue. Firefox works fine.
