Jun 30, 2014How to locate and remove some malware I must've downloaded? A lot of pop-ups open on every page I visit and random words are highlighted in green and hyperlinked to ads(I have attached an example). I am running mavericks version 10.9.4. It occurs on all my web browsers and is not an extension - even a nortons anitvirus scan revealed nothing.

Feb 11, 2012I'm trying to fill out a downloaded application which is in pdf format. I can type text onto the form in Preview, however, the text types as though it's right justified. That is: when I type the text, the text appears to the left of the cursor. To clarify, the cursor stays in the same place and the text moves to the left, for example, when I place the cursor to the right of "Name", the text I type in appears to the left of the cursor on top of the word "Name". For fields such as Name and Date, I suppose I can just put the cursor far to the right and type my text, but this is an application that includes an essay portion. Typing a paragraph with all of the text going to the left of the cursor isn't going to work very well. Is there a way to change the way the text is added, so that it's added in a more normal way, like the way I'm typing this question, where the letters appear where the cursor is and the cursor moves to the right as you add more text? Â
I have also tried doing this in Text Edit and Pages (I converted the pdf in Text Edit to rtf), but I wasn't able to fill out the document as needed. In addition, importing the document to Pages and Text Edit, for some reason, only imported the first page of the document). I am using OS 10.6.8

Apr 21, 2012I am having a problem with my Canon Pixma 5200. For some reason it has stopped recognising text. It will print out the test print ok. I can print pictures but no text. I have used different applications, Pages, Word and pdf and although it sounds as though it is printing I end up with a blank sheet. I have a letterhead with my email address on it and having typed a long letter only the email address came out (this was in the same font as the letter but a smaller size).

Sep 14, 2010I have a macbook pro and when I connect it to my external ASUS VH226H, 1920x1080 22" moitor all the fonts except the ones that are part of the OS not in external software are really blurry and rubbish. I've used the following apps and it all looks terrible: Coda, Firefox, Safari, Adium, Adobe CS5. I've tried changing the font smoothing options via terminal and it has made no difference.

When I show the sidebar in Preview it lists page, type, date, and author, but does not display the words in the annotations!With a long of annotations that only identify themselves by "Text", it's laborious to find the note one is looking for. May 26, 2012I am running the latest version of Snow Leopard on a 2006/7 MacBook Pro. After teaching myself how to use a mac, and how to maintain it, I wish to God I could go back and do full, clean installs of each OS upgrade...alas, hindsight is always 20/20. But thats for another time. My immediate issue is disk space: Using Space Gremlin & browsing my HD I realized I have 3 massive iwork libraries/files/folders. iwork '06, '08, '09. Im certain I dont require all 3 considering I only use most current version (however the previous two take up gigabytes of space). Is there a safe way to delete them? Will the papers written, work saved from '06-on still be able to be opened using the most current version? If so, I wonder why Apple doesnt just delete the old version each time you upgrade?
I have also deleted all podcasts and photos after moving them to an external, yet Im certain that theres gotta be a way to 1) combine my itunes libraries from my two user accounts (I used the same login on both), but have had issues combining songs on my most used account so I can delete the other library for space. After accomplishing that feat I would then like to learn a method to run my itunes and iphoto libraries from my external HD; if so, could someone please help me learn how to do so seamlessly?

Also the groups on the right in address book are garbled (the text looks out of place/corrupt ). The contacts look fine, it's just a couple group names, not all.
What i've tried: There are no duplicates in my font book. I repaired permissions. I've tried the demo of fontdoctor 7.6 but it says no errors, everything passed.
I'm completely stuck - anyone else have this problem?

Aug 24, 2009I assume an upgrade to SL will not remove any applications i currently run, unless I do a so called "clean install", but I just wanted to be sure: What will get removed when I upgrade?
My applications that are not 64-bit compliant? Will they still work? Will my adobe software still work, or does it need an update? Does any of my applications need an update? I have some custom icons (through Candybary), will they be removed? Will all my personal preferences reset?
Basically, what will an upgrade to Snow Leopard touch and change on my system?
ATM i got Leopard installed, by the way.

Apr 10, 2012I have a MacPro with Snow Leopard. How do I remove "server addresses" where other computers are no longer in existence. When I go to "Go/Connect to Server" I have some addresses which are no longer valid. I can highlight them in the "Favorite Servers" list and hit "Remove" and they will disappear only to come back the next time I open the "Go/Connect to Server".  For example, one of the server addresses is "smb://xps630i-PC/ddrive" and was used to link my MacPro to my PC. Â
