OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Remove IWork 06 And 08
May 26, 2012
I am running the latest version of Snow Leopard on a 2006/7 MacBook Pro. After teaching myself how to use a mac, and how to maintain it, I wish to God I could go back and do full, clean installs of each OS upgrade...alas, hindsight is always 20/20. But thats for another time. My immediate issue is disk space: Using Space Gremlin & browsing my HD I realized I have 3 massive iwork libraries/files/folders. iwork '06, '08, '09. Im certain I dont require all 3 considering I only use most current version (however the previous two take up gigabytes of space). Is there a safe way to delete them? Will the papers written, work saved from '06-on still be able to be opened using the most current version? If so, I wonder why Apple doesnt just delete the old version each time you upgrade?
I have also deleted all podcasts and photos after moving them to an external, yet Im certain that theres gotta be a way to 1) combine my itunes libraries from my two user accounts (I used the same login on both), but have had issues combining songs on my most used account so I can delete the other library for space. After accomplishing that feat I would then like to learn a method to run my itunes and iphoto libraries from my external HD; if so, could someone please help me learn how to do so seamlessly?

I recently bought Macbook Pros for my 2 daughters and we took the 30 day iWork trial. At the end of the trial we downloaded a purchased version on to one of the Macbooks and the second one seemed to be able to download it without buying it again which was fine. However, we now have a problem in that both machines have two versions of iWork and we can't work out how to remove the trial version. This would be OK except that we are then having problems printing and saving as it keeps telling us that the trial version has expired and trying to get us to buy it again.
I assume an upgrade to SL will not remove any applications i currently run, unless I do a so called "clean install", but I just wanted to be sure: What will get removed when I upgrade?
My applications that are not 64-bit compliant? Will they still work? Will my adobe software still work, or does it need an update? Does any of my applications need an update? I have some custom icons (through Candybary), will they be removed? Will all my personal preferences reset?
Basically, what will an upgrade to Snow Leopard touch and change on my system?
I have a MacPro with Snow Leopard. How do I remove "server addresses" where other computers are no longer in existence. When I go to "Go/Connect to Server" I have some addresses which are no longer valid. I can highlight them in the "Favorite Servers" list and hit "Remove" and they will disappear only to come back the next time I open the "Go/Connect to Server".  For example, one of the server addresses is "smb://xps630i-PC/ddrive" and was used to link my MacPro to my PC. Â
I have recently moved most of my photos and videos to an eternal hard drive but I am not sure how to remove everything from my HD. I deleted everything out of Iphoto and deleted the trash but if I do a search for video it still shows videos in Iphoto. Also I am not sure how to remove all of the old video from Imovie without doing any damage.
I installed some fonts and now have 1148 installed, many of which I wish to remove. However, Font Book 3.0 freezes on loading so I am unable to proceed. I am running OSX 10.7.4.
when I open any window on my IMac I have get this icon in network window and i didn't know what's for , and i trying to open active monitor to force quit this process but it's back again.Â

I've had my Macbook for a couple years. I'm not someone who downloads a ton of stuff, but I suspect that my sluggish performance is due to the many startup items I have.Using iBoost, I've identified many, and know where they are, but I don't know which ones are necessary. [code]
Recently the icon for the Macintosh HD appeared on my desktop. It wasn't previously there so I've no idea why it has suddenly appeared. how I can get it off the desktop.
Running 10.6.8 and recently updated Safari to 5.1.7. PDFs load in Safari via Quicktime and only show the first page, with no ability to zoom. How can I reset Preview as my Safari pdf reader?
Does anyone know how to get rid of all those status messages in iChat? Since installing Snow Leopard, there are a bunch of them. I could care less about people knowing I'm surfing the web, reading email, on the phone, etc. I prefer just "Available" and "Away" as those tell if I can chat or not.
I've tried:
- deleting all the status messages from the buddy list (no longer appear in the status message drop down menu of the buddy list, but still appear when you click the balloon icon in the menu bar)
- deleting all the .plist files to reset iChat (no luck)
There used to be a way in 10.5 via some hidden preference to remove the alternating row colors in list view. I have a feeling that this hidden feature been eliminated... can anyone confirm?
Previously, I have had no troble removing obsolete enteries from Previous Recipients in Mail.Of, course I also remove these enteries from my Address Book. Now, when I hit the "Remove From List" button, the entry disappears, but it reappears the next time I check the Previous Recipients List. I simply cannot get rid of obosete entries.
I was moving a folder (Beggs 5/12) from my desktop to my HD, and accidentally dropped it in the shaded area at the top of the HD when you are viewing your HD contents. I can't seem to remove it, only click on it to see contents.
I plan to 'clean up' my Time Machine/Time capsule completely, whereby I want to make it impossible for third parties to recover all or part of these old backups. After I have accompished this I want to start from scratch backing up my Mac.
I have a: Macbook Pro running Mac OSX 10.5.8 (Office 2008) Word, Exel, PowerPoint, (Iwork 2009) Numbers, Pages will not save:. I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work. I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
