Mar 23, 2012I just set up Mail 4.5 and am receiving incoming mails but can't send out my emails. I get a message saying the SMTP server rejected the password. I know it's the correct password, have entered it a few times now.

Feb 12, 2012I changed my password in iCloud & now Mail in Snow Leopard rejects the new one (including old ones I have used). All other products (iPad2, iPhone4 & iCloud) are fine. I restored using Time Machine, Backup & even reinstalled Snow Leopard using original DVD. Even deleted mobile me account in preferences then restored from older backup.

Mar 18, 2012I'm changing my primary e-mail from hotmail to aim after it recently got hacked, when I try to configure my aim in Mail it says "Mail cannot send your password securely to the server." and then it gives me the choice to continue without the password being secure which would put it at risk, or setup manually. After I set it up manually and enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) it gives me the same message as before but this time when i choose setup manually and enable SSL again, it works. How do I know if my password is secure??

Apr 2, 2012I am using Macbook Pro (OS Lion), unable to send/receive emails. I have reset all settings (no help). Problem is temporarily resolved by logging into webmail but then issue returns once Apple Mail app is shut down and then re-opened. Server tech support (Rogers/Yahoo) says that the mail client keeps sending the wrong password so the account gets locked out. I have changed the password and re-entered all the mail settings?

May 4, 2012Mail on my Pro suddenly says incorrect username and/or password. Resubmitting password does not help. Mail is fine on my iPad and Phone. I can also log into the mail's website with no issue. Until now mail has never been an issue on my Mac. I tried deleting and re-adding the account. Get the same message when it tries to verify the login during setup.

May 16, 2012I followed the steps outlined in [URL]to move my Snow Leopard's MobileMe mail account to an iCloud account in the Mail app (deleted the old MobileMe account from the sidebar and followed the steps to create a new one for [URL]. Before doing that, I had gone online and changed my very old AppleID's password so that it conformed to the new requirements. I also set up the MobileMe in System Preferences to be using that new password. It seems to be happy with the new setup/password.
I can get my iCloud mail on my iPad and on my MBAir when I use Safari. But the Mail app continues to loop, asking me to enter my password -- and then informing me that "The MobileMe IMAP server "imap.mail.me.com" rejected the password for user [URL]I compared my Mail settings for the new iCloud account to what's given in the instructions and cannot spot anything amiss.

Mar 24, 2009So the mail on my macbook just suddenly stopped being able to receive or send anything, everytime I open mail I get a pop up box saying:
The SMTP server [URL]rejected the password for user �schreiber16�
re-enter your password, or cancel.
So I enter my password but the box keeps popping up.
when it comes to this sort of stuff, and Google tells me that it may be something to do with my ISP.. but I'm at a loss how to fix it. I did a search and there have been others with the same problem as me, but most of them said the problem fixed itself, whereas mine hasn't after a couple of weeks.

Sep 11, 2010I use mac mail for my mac account and exchange. In preferences for smtp server I have set "only use this server" for each account, ie mac account sent emails end up in mac sent mail box and exchange sent emails end up in exchange sent items box.
The problem now is that despite the fact that I select an account to send a mail, lets say my exchange account, Mail does not send the mail and return a dialog box where I have to select the exchange smtp server manually. This also happens when I send a mac mail, then I have to choose the mac smtp server to send the mail out.
This is highly annoying because your work gets interrupted by this popping up "cannot send mail using the server Mac" messages! Only after selecting the server the message is sent. If I uncheck 'only use this server' then all mails are sent but with the mac server! So my exchange sent items box remains empty.

Occasionally when I send an email, mail.app attempts to use an SMTP server that is available only via a VPN connection (such as the SMTP behind the corporate firewall at work). When it can't reach such a server, it takes about 5-10 minutes until it finally brings up a dialog to let me switch to a reachable SMTP host. I would like to change that 5-10 minute value to something more reasonable like 30 seconds.

Apr 6, 2010I have multiple email addresses that are all being forwarded to my MobileMe account. I have SMTP addresses set up for each of these accounts set up in Mail.app. Everything is working fine, but there is one thing that bothers me I was hoping I could fix.
When I reply to email that was sent to one of my other accounts, it still defaults to the MobileMe SMTP server for sending the reply. I know I can select the correct SMTP server in the drop down list, but is there any way to get Mail.app to do this automatically?

Have checked, rechecked, deleted, recreated, rebuilt, and did the ancient ritual of the chicken dance, but am always greeted with the Cannot send message using the server smtp.covad.net. Been through all the "resolutions" that I have come across, to no avail. This began two days ago.
I am also unable to send via my iPhone 4 (running iOS 5.1). I can send via the webmail interface for Covad, and the Connection Doctor generates all green.

Apr 2, 2012Woke up this morning, flipped open my MBP, and I see an Error Message that says that the Certificate is Invalid for SMTP Mail server. I looked, but it says it doesn't expire until 2014. So why does this message happen and what does it mean? I quit Mail, and then Restarted anyways to see what happens and all seems to be OK. Two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings. Resolve the conflicts and try again." The incoming and outgoing server addresses for this ISP are the same, which may be the problem. Both are mail.myglnc.com.
