I canceled by mobile.me account and now I am getting this message when I open my mail. Enter password for account "smtp.me.com:xxx". SMTP server "smtp.me.com" rejected the password for user "xxx". I try to put my mobile.me password, but that does not seem to work. I am fairly new to Mac OS and cant seem to figure out what is going on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the mail on my macbook just suddenly stopped being able to receive or send anything, everytime I open mail I get a pop up box saying:
The SMTP server [URL]rejected the password for user �schreiber16�
re-enter your password, or cancel.
So I enter my password but the box keeps popping up.
when it comes to this sort of stuff, and Google tells me that it may be something to do with my ISP.. but I'm at a loss how to fix it. I did a search and there have been others with the same problem as me, but most of them said the problem fixed itself, whereas mine hasn't after a couple of weeks.
The SMTP server I use for sending email had been working fine up until about a week ago. Although no changes were made to my setup, now virtually every time I send an email, I get the pop-up "Cannot send message using server xxxx".
When click on "Try with selected server" (the same server), it will then usually send okay; sometimes it takes an additional attempt.
Is this some keychain issue or something?
I've deleted the SMTP server and re-entered all the info, but it's still happening.
The SMTP server is the one from my ISP, so they should be okay with it.
I am using Macbook Pro (OS Lion), unable to send/receive emails. I have reset all settings (no help). Problem is temporarily resolved by logging into webmail but then issue returns once Apple Mail app is shut down and then re-opened. Server tech support (Rogers/Yahoo) says that the mail client keeps sending the wrong password so the account gets locked out. I have changed the password and re-entered all the mail settings?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery few minutes, my Mail rejects my Hotmail password and says "The Hotmail POP serverrejected the password for user ______". I looked it up on google and apparently hotmail may be set up to reject passwords or deny POP access if the polling rate is too fast... I'm not sure what's going on. I click "remember password in keychain" every time but it pops up every hour at least.

We've been pretty happy with it and are considering trying to host our email on it as well, as we've had a little trouble lately with our hosted email being rejected as spam (since they're shared services). It seems to work correctly in a controlled environment on test email accounts that I've created, but I'm having trouble figuring out if it's possible to allow smtp relaying from a device (cell phone, tablet, computer) outside of the local network when the sending from is a virtual address.
Basically, it seems "user@company1.com" can send from devices off the network and authentication allows them to. However, we have two sister companies that we need email for as well. I would like them to be able to send messages from "user@company2.com" or "user@sister3.com."
When I try to send from one of those test accounts on an iphone outside of the local network, it says "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipent "recipient@addressee.com" was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying." If I add the specific IP address of that device to my allowed relay list, the message sends with no problem. Obviously, I don't want wide ranges of IP addresses allowed to use the relay service. Is there no way to allow relaying from any IP address based on an authenticated user?

I'm currently locked out of my Power Mac G5. While trying to install the latest Java for Mac OS x 10.5 Update 6 from Software Update, my admin. password was rejected as invalid. When I try to change my password in Accounts, my old password is rejected. I've entered this password a thousand times, and, yeah, I'm slightly senile, but caps lock isn't on.

When I tried to check my email on my mac this morning I got a message saying the account was offline. It asked for my mobileme password which I put in but it was rejected with the message:

I know the password to be correct as I've signed into both my mobileme and icloud accounts online. I switched to an icloud account several weeks ago.

Ok I've just bought a lovely new Macbook pro, this afternoon. I'm trying toy download some software. The new Mac is rejecting my password. My company uses a Exchange service called [URL]. I successfully installed this service on Entourage and Postbox, but there is no WAY I can make this work in Mail. I copy the exact same configuration of my co-workers and this Mail app does not stop complaining about my "wrong" SMTP password. Saying the server rejected. I literally copied every single configuration from other people using Mail and it doesn't work. Then, I decided to try using the Guest account on my mac. It WORKED! So, I figure there must be something crazy with my account, some permission thing, I don't know. I tried deleting all the references to SMTP on my KeyChain, didn't fix it. Tried deleting the Libray/Mail folder, didn't work.
