When I try to change the settings for my Mail app, in Snow Leopard, the incoming mail settings are greyed out. What do I do to be able to change these?Â
(I had a problem, with my Mail account, which a consultant fixed for me on my laptop. But I cannot remember what he did to access the incoming mail server preferences, and make the changes, because on my desktop these are still greyed out.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes my mail seems to randomly lose its place with my GoDaddy email server and I look down at the mail activity box and it shows that I have thousands of incoming email. Sometimes when this happens my inbox tied to this account is empty...sometimes it is not. Is this normal?Â

I am a Power Mac user, still in Snow Leopard land. Was assured I could keep my mac mail after mobile me went away.  This morning, I can not receive incoming mail. I can send mail ok, seems. I went to Mobile Me, and was able to get on the cloud (email only), and can see new email there, I just need to know how to reconfigure my settings so I can receive via Mac Mail on my Power Mac?

I am losing random incoming emails in my .mac email address. I first discovered it last week when my wife was getting emails that I was copied on that I never got. Checked inbox, trash, junk, iCloud and never could find them. Then today, just by chance, I had to verify a link via that email address. When the verification is sent, I see it hit the inbox with the new email counter and then it immediately disappears. I have disabled all my Apple Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes. As I mentioned, I have checked everywhere I could think of that it might be going.

New mail messages appear in Mail on iCloud but, after working perfectly for weeks have suddenly stopped downloading to Apple Mail on the computer (Snow Leopard). I'm not aware that I've made any change that might produce this result. The same failure has occurred on both my iMac and my MacBook.

This has concerned me ever since I got a Mac. Sometimes I'll open mail, and it'll say (in the bottom left ) receiving 1 of 15. Scroll across to 15 - but I'll actually only get one new email. I have Junk Mail filtering to just mark emails, not delete them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMail 4.5 started to get wonky a couple of days ago- taking forever to load. All of the the imap server began rejecting my password which had not changed for months. So I retyped it. Nothing. Quite mail and restarted mail. Nothing. Deleted the account, restarted & reloaded. Nothing. Restarted the machine. Launched Mail, nothing. Check for updates, nothing. Can login directly to iCloud and works fine on my iOS devices but nothing on good ole' mail. Â

I have some email addresses for various web addresses for my business web site and I just noticed that when sending an email to one of these, mac mail is showing my name in the To box. Does anyone know where this gets pulled from so I can change it? I am not seeing it in the preferences for some reason.

My "smart" mailbox is showing messages from the "All Mail" folder of my IMAP account folder in addition to my Inbox. Is there a way to work around or stop this so I don't see duplicate messages in my smart mailbox?

The Mail program stopped retrieving new emails. It shows my last email came last night, but when I sign into [URL] I have 8 new emails there. Tried closing/rebooting but no luck. Also it's not giving me a password prompt like it sometimes does, so I know it's not a password issue.

Besides the below mentionned iMac I also still have an iMac 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with OSX 10.5.8 installed.Since a few days my mail application on the 10.5 iMac doesn't receives any incoming mails from my Me.com account and I receive constantly the request to enter my password. This mail application worked entirely well until it started asking for its password.Strangely enough I can access the concerned mail account on the below mentioned iMac, on the concerned iMac via Safari on iCloud.com and also on my iPad I tried in my opinion nearly everything suggested on the forum and the support pages. I even tried restoring the mail application from a time machine back-up prior to the incident. As incoming mail server in the Mail preferences "mail.mac.com" is mentioned. I tried to change this to "imap.mail.me.com" but even after saving the change it still mentions "mail.mac.com". what i should do to have my mail application work again on the 10.5.8 iMac? Could or should I f.i. restore other files than the Mail application from my Time Machine Back-up?Â

I got an iPod Touch today and I'm while I was testing out some apps I noticed that I cannot connect to my MacBook Pro.
If I try to ping it I get no response. Going to the Mac's address in a browser (web sharing is on) I don't get any response either. I cannot connect to for file sharing either. I have turned off the firewall in OS X and rebooted the computer with no change. All sharing options are enabled. If I run "sudo ipfw list" I get this: "65535 allow ip from any to any".
It appears however that Snow Leopard allows connection from outside the local network, as Internet, BitTorrent, Mail etc. works as usual.
I've tried turning the firewall off in the router but connections are still blocked.
"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:Â

I've recently acquired an iMac and wanted to upgrade to Lion, however I believe I need to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard first - which could prove to end up costing a fortune! I've read recently that Apple are offering the upgrade to Snow Leopard free of charge for MobileMe users, however when I've followed a link to fill in a request form, this just takes me to the Find My Phone feature on iCloud.Â

I've been syncing a number of calendars from my Mobileme account and sharing them on numerous devices and with a number of associates and family. And I'm still using OS10.6, haven't moved to Lion yet, so I can't use iCloud. Do I have to give up on sharing my iCal calendars? I don't really like using google calendars to share, but that's the only alternative i can figure out.

In System Preferences/Security/Firewall the unchecked box below "Block all incoming connections" has 4 entries set to "Allow all incoming connections". Do these entries & their settings matter since the "Block all incoming connections" box is unchecked?

I'm using Mail 3.6 on OS 10.5.8. I have three email accounts I manage through Mail. My main email account has stopped receiving emails. I can still send but not receive. My other two email accounts both send and receive just fine.Â
Mail had prompted me to import messages after a restart right before this account stopped receiving mails. All of the emails (from all three accounts) imported successfully and I'm sure what prompted Mail having to reimport emails in the first place. This main email account had grown quite large, around 46,000 messages and I've since got that number down to 28,000.Â

Apple Mail stopped working after replacing and restoring the Main Hard Drive in the upper bay. Internet connection is good, and the Mail client troubleshooting (Comcast) was no help. I can start the App, but it does not retrieve or send mail through Comcast anymore. I have a MacBook Pro with the same settings and Mail works fine.

After installing snow leopard I've had constant issues with mobileme, first with data conflicts, after I choose which data I think is correct (I usually guess) it then (sometimes after several minutes) constantly props me for a password. It's constantly saying this:
It says this WHILE LOGGED IN, I've logged out a million times and logged in, the password is correct. After I log out and try to log back in, it also gives me this error.
I presently use Mobile Me for emails and back up. Mobile Me shuts down in June 2012 so I am looking to move to iCloud however the site tells me to download Lion which is fine BUT our Broadband is not able to download Lion as we live in a rural location. The Macbook I have is Snow Leopard.

Am I the only person who feels ripped off by having to upgrade to lion so I can keep my "mobileme" account? My Mac is only 1 1/2 years old. I have now tried downloading lion for the 3rd time and have 72 hours devoted to trying to get the download completed. The 2nd ended with error [after 12 hours!].
