Mac mail stoped working. I can get it on my icloud but can not send or receive in mac mail. I got a pop up on mac mail and answered it quickly.I may have messed something up?

I am a Power Mac user, still in Snow Leopard land. Was assured I could keep my mac mail after mobile me went away. This morning, I can not receive incoming mail. I can send mail ok, seems. I went to Mobile Me, and was able to get on the cloud (email only), and can see new email there, I just need to know how to reconfigure my settings so I can receive via Mac Mail on my Power Mac?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am with my brand new MBP running snow leopard, setting up my gmail in Mail.app, account settings identical to my iMac (still running 10.5), and it keeps throwing up a timeout error on port 993. It seems that re-entering the password in the account settings window makes it work for a while, until the next operation starts, then it times out again. Anyone having these problems?

Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". Quicklook has stopped workingon my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8. Pressing the space bar on a file yields nothing. Is there a way to update or reset it so it starts working again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rule that copies an email to the ON MY MAC and then another that MOVES TO A FOLDER in Mobileme. They are in this order. The problem is when I quit Mail the Folder I am copying to is changed to the Mobileme folder so I end up with a duplicate. It doesn't change until Mail is quit. The other odd part, there one arragement like this that did savef at some point and works as expected.
I have tried having both of these rules combined into 1 and have the same results.
When I try to change the settings for my Mail app, in Snow Leopard, the incoming mail settings are greyed out. What do I do to be able to change these?
(I had a problem, with my Mail account, which a consultant fixed for me on my laptop. But I cannot remember what he did to access the incoming mail server preferences, and make the changes, because on my desktop these are still greyed out.)

One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail. The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.

I just installed some routine updates for my Mac and now I can't receive any mail in my apple mail program. It is version 4.5 and I am using a mobile me account. I have never had any problems before and obviously very annoyed. I know I can access it view the web but I like apple mail. I am able to send.

Firstly I am sorry if this has been posted before, but I did have a look at the Snow Leopard FAQ & a browse through the current topics. And secondly, I am also sorry if I am not using appropriate computer language to describe certain things. I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro I bought in the middle of last year. Before Snow Leopard. So when Snow Leopard came along I went for the upgrade without looking around at compatibility issues with certain software.
So after the upgrade, my EyeTV didn't work, and neither did my internet (I use the ones with the USB stick). So I couldn't even go online to get my EyeTV update. So in my (brief) panick I re-installed Leopard, which wasn't a great idea I guess, because all of a sudden my HD space went down to 50GB from my 500GB of storage. Now I know I didn't have the full 500GB since I did have some photos, music & videos on board. But surely 50GB remaining is quite ridiculous. I think it probably performed a Time Machine backup for me.
Anyway... that was awhile ago. And I was happy to carry on with what I had. But now I think I would like to try what Snow Leopard has to offer. But with only 18GB of space remaining, I think the best option might be to reformat and start over. What do you guys think? My other option is to try to delete as much as I can spare to make room for Snow Leopard. Sorry if this question is a silly one, but I have done a lot of things with my iPhone & with this Mac without thinking & asking first & I have always regretted it. Thanks for any help or suggestions you all can offer.

I have mac mini (early 2009) running leopard and want to upgrade to snow leopard. I've bought a disk from a local store and when I try to install I get as far as 45 minutes to go when the installer reboots the computer and says it will continue to install after reboot. So it reboots kicks the disk out and reboots back into Leopard. The Apple site says it is probably a bad disk, so I got another one, still does the same. Apple also says it might be the dvd drive, I have no other issues with the drive, it installs the original leopard disks without problem, it reads video dvd's without problem, it verifies the snow disk as perfect.

Everytime I start Mail on Leopard, all the menu options (File, Edit, View, ...) come up, but the rest just doesn't... And if i afterwards want to quit Mail, it's stuck and I have to use force quit.
Since updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 Mail.app has been unable to retieve IMAP mail from my OS X Leopard 10.5.x server running the standard cyrusd. Does anybody have any clues? Mail just sits there syncing the mailbox forever, it never stops. If I turn on logging to file, it just continuously FETCHes from IMAP and never ends. It's driving me mad. My iphone can get the IMAP mail from the same server absolutely fine. I added the mail account to a new OS X Snow Leopard user account, and that also failed to get anywhere. So its not corrupted data on my MBP. It doesn't appear to be corrupted data on the OS X server either, as the iPhone works.

Please help I have to print something off for classes tomorrow.

My HP A-I-O printer is not working under SL. Tried deleting the printer in Prefs. and reinstalling the drivers a bazillion times. I even went out and bought a *new* HP printer and I'm experiencing the same problems.
Not sure why, anyone know how to fix this?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI thought I had checked most of the software I use for compatability with Snow leopard when upgrading from leopard with n know issues that I culdn't handle. I upgraded yesterday with no probs but this morning I went to used the calculator app ( ie not the widget) and it came up instantly and told me it wouldn't work with the version? Whats that all about - a built in OS app and it doesn't work?
I was just beginning to tear my hair out with frustration when writing this to get some help and the penny dropped - chuck the dock icon away, check applications folder and hey presto calulator - launched it no probs
So thought I'd post this anyway just incase anybody else had a similar issue - most people probably worked it out already but maybe this will help some newbies
