Anyone else having this problem?
My HP A-I-O printer is not working under SL. Tried deleting the printer in Prefs. and reinstalling the drivers a bazillion times. I even went out and bought a *new* HP printer and I'm experiencing the same problems.
I should have posted in this forum first as its printer related. But does anyone know how to get the above printer scanner working with snow leopard?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a canon mx700 printer.I just upgraded to snow leopard 10.6.8 and now my printer is no longer working.This is probably the 50th time I have had this problem. It always occurs whenever I update my apple software. I have tried reseting my settings, updating my drives and trying to connect the printer directly into my computer and over my network without any success. Upon resetting my drives I keep getting this error  a communication error has occurred.

Quicklook has stopped workingon my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8. Pressing the space bar on a file yields nothing. Is there a way to update or reset it so it starts working again?

I just installed Snow Leopard successfully, but it doesn't know my HP2600N network laser printer. It's not in the support document and the closest printer, a 2605N is supprted. But HP's site says "HP LaserJet - Software Information for Mac OS X 10.6" and "Obtain Software", but there's nothing there. Any idea of when HP will support the 2600N? (All other upgrades had no problem with the 2600N).

I have tried re installing the software 3 times now to no avail.
Has anyone got a work around for the Canon IPF500 printer.
I need to get this working, but waiting for new driver to be released from Canon.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need a printer for my macbook running snow leopard. I want an all in one. The 2 I use the most (daily) are scanning & printing (mostly documents). I want something that has reasonably priced ink and separate ink cartridges. And ALL functions on the printer to work.
We just bought our second MAC. Spouse decide we needed another so we could both have one. One thing I LOVE about my Mac is : It just works. I want my printer to just work from the get go too.
About every other day, my Mac keeps losing connection to a Brother USB laser printer. I have to disconnect the USB connnection and reconnect it to get the Mac to see it as being online. I've used this printer on this Mac for years without problems.

My son has a MacBook with Snow Leopard. We bought a new Epson Wirelss all in one printer. It is working fine on by desk pc. With the Mac, I had to download the drivers for SL from Epson. Did that. At the add printer screen, the Epson never shows up. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled at least 10 times. Twice, the name of the Epson flashed briefly onto the add printer screen and then disappeared. Any suggestions?

My Brother (windows fanboy) is able to print just fine through his wireless PC (Win7) but I can't get my head around why I cannot. Does anyone else have a Lexmark printer that is working with Snow Leopard? I have an x4850 and after updating it tells me I need to install the software to make the printer work. Of course, Lexmark's site is completely unhelpful and makes no mention of OSX 10.6 at all.

Is there a way, manually or automatically, to delete all the ones I don't need? I've done a search, and a couple of places (possibly outdated) have pointed me to Library > Printers, and that all the printer drivers should be there. When I do that, I only see the application for my own printer.............
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro which I just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I have an HP Multi-Function 2840 hooked up to the router via ethernet. This printer previously worked through Leopard.
Now, my understanding is that for SL, the drivers for this printer are in the operating system and can not be downloaded from HP.
How do I set this up as a network printer? I would like to be able to print from my other computers in the house as well.
Please Note: Snow Leopard only provides drivers for the printing function of this machine. I am going to have to revert to other means to use this device to scan.

I am having a problem with my Canon Pixma 5200. For some reason it has stopped recognising text. It will print out the test print ok. I can print pictures but no text. I have used different applications, Pages, Word and pdf and although it sounds as though it is printing I end up with a blank sheet. I have a letterhead with my email address on it and having typed a long letter only the email address came out (this was in the same font as the letter but a smaller size).

But now months later, when I try to print, it says, 'communication error'. I deleted the printer and tried adding it again using the system preferences, printer&fax, then pressing the '+' button to add the printer but for some reason, the printer doesn't show up.

I'm having trouble printing to a printer shared by my Mac Pro running 10.6.8 from my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 Printer sharing is turned on on my Mac pro, they are connected to the same network, the MacBook via Airport and the Mac Pro via ethernet. I can quite happily swap files between them. When I try to add a printer on the MacBook the Canon iP4300 simply doesn't show up under the list of available printers as I think it should do.

Text looks correct on the screen, but a few letters get replaced in the printed copy with the preceding letter, so M sometimes prints as N, or e prints as d! Some M's and e's print correctly, same font, same page. I've rebooted, deleted preferences, restored fonts from Time Machine backup, no change. I've restarted the printer. But if I print to a pdf file, the pdf is correct, and Preview prints the pdf correctly.Â

If drivers for your printer do not show up in Snow Leopard, and there is no option for a generic driver (that you can use until original ones arrive), then you might be in luck if you've got your Leopard disc handy. Insert your Leopard disc, and then click on Optional Installs. Then in the next window you might have to click on Optional Installs again. From the new Window, select Printer drivers. Select the appropriate brand, and then install. So really, we're trying to use Leopard drivers here, moved from your Leopard disc onto Snow Leopard. If you're in luck, usable drivers might show up in your System Preferences, or perhaps a generic driver that will work.

Since the release of Snow Leopard, Apple has advertised new printer-related features in the operating system upgrade. Apple's Software Update will automatically provide you with third-party printer software and updates, "Nearby Printers" is a list of available printers that will appear right inside your printer dialog box, and you can simply connect a USB printer and the print queue will be automatically created.
I have updated my system to snow leopard. All went fine until I hit the print button... All my previous printers are gone. I have a HP laserjet p3005dn which worked fine under 10.5.x but it's no longer visible. When I open up the fax/ print pref pane and scan for new printers only the (software) PDF9 printer is visible. How can I get my printer back?
