Applications :: Dashboard Not Working On Snow Leopard
Dec 9, 2009For about 2 weeks, my dashboard hasn't been working properly. I've had Snow Leopard on my machine for about 2 months, so it's not directly related to the fact that I put that on my machine, but I'm not really sure what is going on. Most of the widgets are semi-unresponsive, the weather widget still gives me the weather etc., but none of the little "i" buttons work, and several of the other buttons on certain widgets don't work, making many of the widgets practically unusable. It's almost as if the widgets aren't recognizing the mouse.
I've tried deleting dashboard preferences, and then last night I reinstalled snow leopard, none of which made any difference. I also tried using pacifist to re-install dashboard, still nothing. I really don't want to have to do a clean install just for the dashboard, I'm using a 1.83 ghz intel macbook (2006)

Mar 25, 2012"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:

OS X :: Snow Leopard - Dashboard Doesn't "Fly" In?
Oct 4, 2009Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, my dashboard widgets don't "fly in" anymore. The screen fades dim and then the widgets just appear in their place.
Is anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? I thought maybe the 10.6.1 upgrade would fix it, but it didn't.

Oct 5, 2008For a while now the command-tab, dashboard key and spaces key do not work. I press the key and nothing happens. If I restart the OS (OS X 10.5.5) they work but only for a short time and stop working again. Other accounts on the system work fine and do not have this problem.

Mar 23, 2010Firstly I am sorry if this has been posted before, but I did have a look at the Snow Leopard FAQ & a browse through the current topics. And secondly, I am also sorry if I am not using appropriate computer language to describe certain things. I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro I bought in the middle of last year. Before Snow Leopard. So when Snow Leopard came along I went for the upgrade without looking around at compatibility issues with certain software.
So after the upgrade, my EyeTV didn't work, and neither did my internet (I use the ones with the USB stick). So I couldn't even go online to get my EyeTV update. So in my (brief) panick I re-installed Leopard, which wasn't a great idea I guess, because all of a sudden my HD space went down to 50GB from my 500GB of storage. Now I know I didn't have the full 500GB since I did have some photos, music & videos on board. But surely 50GB remaining is quite ridiculous. I think it probably performed a Time Machine backup for me.
Anyway... that was awhile ago. And I was happy to carry on with what I had. But now I think I would like to try what Snow Leopard has to offer. But with only 18GB of space remaining, I think the best option might be to reformat and start over. What do you guys think? My other option is to try to delete as much as I can spare to make room for Snow Leopard. Sorry if this question is a silly one, but I have done a lot of things with my iPhone & with this Mac without thinking & asking first & I have always regretted it. Thanks for any help or suggestions you all can offer.
Software :: Upgrade From Leopard To Snow Leopard Not Working?
Feb 17, 2010I have mac mini (early 2009) running leopard and want to upgrade to snow leopard. I've bought a disk from a local store and when I try to install I get as far as 45 minutes to go when the installer reboots the computer and says it will continue to install after reboot. So it reboots kicks the disk out and reboots back into Leopard. The Apple site says it is probably a bad disk, so I got another one, still does the same. Apple also says it might be the dvd drive, I have no other issues with the drive, it installs the original leopard disks without problem, it reads video dvd's without problem, it verifies the snow disk as perfect.

My understanding is that you size the box around something and then go to ADD, whereby it should take you to the dashboard. In my case I hit ADD and it does nothing. Mar 13, 2010I have F8-F12 (without fn) mapped to spaces/expose/dashboard, and ever since I installed Snow Leopard, at random times my computer will stop registering them as "hey, open up dashboard" and interpret it as "hey, F12 was pressed, let's send this along to Firefox or Terminal or whatever". Sleeping or user switching doesn't help, I need to reboot.

Oct 15, 2009I thought I had checked most of the software I use for compatability with Snow leopard when upgrading from leopard with n know issues that I culdn't handle. I upgraded yesterday with no probs but this morning I went to used the calculator app ( ie not the widget) and it came up instantly and told me it wouldn't work with the version? Whats that all about - a built in OS app and it doesn't work?
I was just beginning to tear my hair out with frustration when writing this to get some help and the penny dropped - chuck the dock icon away, check applications folder and hey presto calulator - launched it no probs
So thought I'd post this anyway just incase anybody else had a similar issue - most people probably worked it out already but maybe this will help some newbies

May 11, 2012I put "levelwidget" on the dashboard - it is supposed to make a macbook into a Level. Sounded interesting...now I regret! The widget is corrupted and now when I try to open the dashboard it immediately closes and gives me an error message "you can't open the application motion because power pc applications are no longer supported" How do I delete this widget so I can open the dashboard. I've tried to look up the file, but can't seem to find dashboard widget files.

Jun 12, 2009I just installed the wwdc Snow Leopard preview via ADC to test an ebay app I work on. Everything works fine, except for the network connections. WHile Airport can scan and pick up networks, it cannot connect to them. Ethernet is active, but it does not connect to the internet. I have send problem report to Apple, but I dont expect that it will resolve the problem soon.

Sep 3, 2009After stumbling across a few threads talking about not being able to share an ethernet connection over wifi in Snow Leopard and I'm trying to figure out if this is isolated or just a glitch in Snow Leopard. Does anyone have this working?
For example my laptop hooks to ethernet, and I usually share my internet connection from my laptop to my iPhone via wifi (long story but its the only solution I have since iPhone has no ethernet port).
I need to make sure this is possible in snow leopard before my snow leopard equipped laptop comes.
