MacBook :: Changing The Dock Icon Arrows A Different Color?
Jan 16, 2009
so everyone knows the little black arrows under the dock icons when they are open... Well my question is if anyone knows a way to change their color! I had seen OrangeSVTguy talk about it before but there was never an explanation on how! I am looking to change them to green!

I just noticed that I have a strange new icon in my Leopard-menubar. It has two circular arrows. If I click on it, it displays three choice: "Never Synchronized .Mac", "Synchronize now" and "Open .Mac Sync Preferences". If I click "Sync now", the arrows rotate for a while, and nothing seems to happen. In Activity Monitor "SyncServer" works for a while, and the goes back to sleep. It seems that the icon is related to .Mac. I'm not a .Mac-subsriber and I have never touched any of the related, and I have no idea where that icon came from. And I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I just installed MS Office 2011 on my MacBook Pro (with Mavericks). But when I open a Word or Excel window, it does not have the two arrows icon on the top right corner that every application has (the icon to open the windows on a new desktop like a kind of "full screen" mode. I dont know the name of the icon). I have already installed the updates, but the icon does not appear.

Sometimes my MBP will randomly "forget" it's color profile after waking up from sleep or screensaver. It doesn't happen very often, maybe less than once a month now. I know a few other people have had this problem, and as far as I know the issue is unresolved, with the solution being "go into display settings and it will change back" but there was nothing that could be done to prevent it from changing.

I just got moved to a MBP 13" early 2011 from Windows. I have a Dell SP2309W monitor which i love. On the winows machine i could select the color space output between ypbpr and rgb and configure the monitor accordingly even with an HDMI cable. I cannot however find the same option in OSX Lion. The ypbpr color space is giving me a headache. I know what colors this monitor is capable of and I don't see them since i moved to MBP, the picture is now kind of purplish, the red color is unnatural ( I doubt a photo would give the idea). No playing around with the color profiles does any good. I'm begining to think that to my MBP my monitor is just a TV. I'm also thinking that a way of solving this is getting a mDP - DVI adapter, so perhaps the monitor would make the RGB mode a priority since it's connected through DVI.

I'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.
2) How can one change the color of the menu bar?

I have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

This may be of interest of more of you. I want to be able to read easier when the background is white, especially pdf files, or webpages.
I did not find a solution for certain documents, to change a background without breaking the style. I'm using the lowest brightness but I found its easier to read when I make the background gray, for example in textEdit.
ideas for pdf files ?

Yesterday I installed the latest security updates for my ibook via software update. I'm not sure if this is related to my problem, but I thought I might as well mention it. A few hours after installing the updates, I turned on my computer. Everything was running fine, however as I was listening to music and surfing the internet, my screen turned black. I checked the contrast and it was all the way up. The screen then turned completely off. Upon restarting the computer, my screen got to the loading page with the apple icon and the loading circle, and then turned black and flickered every so often with a screen of vertical multi-colored bars.
I held down the power button to turn the screen off, and the flickering increased, before becoming completely covered by the multi-colored bars and then shutting off. This morning I tried again and my computer actually booted up. However, after a few seconds the screen went black, paused for a few seconds, then went completely red, then green, then blue, then three shades of gray, and finally black again. It repeated this cycle twice before the screen turned itself off. Is this a virus, or hardware/software malfunctioning. I've had my ibook for two years.

I have tried via preferences to change the standard color in which I type my
e-mails
Although via preferences I succeeded in changing font size from 12 to 14, the color won't change from black to blue or any other color
Is it in anyway possible to set mail that spacing between two lines are for example 2 lines or 1,5 ?

Occasionally, I have a lot of mac applications running on my desktop, and I like to switch back and forth and do certain things with each one of them.
If I clog the activity monitor up too much, the color wheel will come up, and I really hate it. I get very impatient when that happens - not because of it being there, but for some reason, the color wheel itself.
Is there a way to change it so that there is not the color wheel there, maybe something like a black and white color wheel or another gif.

Something I've done in the past few days has caused Safari to not change color for visited links "only" on Google search pages, which is where it's most needed. This is still working fine on FireFox. I tried creating another user account and it works fine with that...just not with my primary account.
I've done all the typical things...repaired permissions, repaired disk, completely reset Safari to default and made sure all caches, etc. were cleaned out...both manually and with Onyx, reset associated .plist files, history, cookies, private browsing...
Returning to a Google search page still shows all visited links as blue, as if they'd never been visited. Another clue is if I log out of my Google account (which I have to be logged into 24/7 for Gmail, Google bookmarks, iGoogle, etc., it starts working, then stops working as soon as I log into my Google account again. I posted this on Google Groups but got no response.
This also works fine on my wife's Mac, so it's definitely a problem just in my user account. I know I could just add a new account and use that, but it would mean re-installing all 70 applications I have now installed as they're not setup for use except with my account. I'd like to avoid that and find the actual culprit. BTW, this worked fine for a long time...just quit working about a week ago, but it wasn't in conjunction with any new hardware or software.
