When I place jpeg images on a USB flashdrive and give them to students using PC's in my Photoshop Classes. There is a second set of files everytime which begin with ._ (dot underscore). They are some kind of false file but are confusing to new students. If they scroll down below these files they will find the real jpegs.

I have a CSS file that displays a repeated background. Only problem is, when I open the HTML file(linked with the CSS file to display the background) it doesn't show the background. This only happens when I'm opening the HTML file that is on my computer(local). I uploaded the exact same HTML/CSS files, and the needed images to my web server, then go to the link in my web browser and it displays 100% correct. So I know I haven't done anything wrong, coding wise. I have tried to open the local HTML/CSS files in multiple browsers(Opera, FireFox, Safari), and they all do the exact same thing. They display everything else correct, except there is never a background image. I am using a Mac Pro, with Leopard 10.5.7. Any ideas? Tell me if you need something more explained, or more details.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wonder if someone could help me out on this. I've imported a lot of DV footage from my DV recorder to imovie and it has generally worked pretty well. Some of it came up with wrong dates, and I was able to follow instructions to get it to the right date.I recently purchased a Contour HD 1080P full on helmet camera for skiing/downhill biking. I got it just before my first ski trip and just took it out and recorded. It doesn't have many controls, and I didn't think that the date might not be set, and it wasn't, needs to be set by connecting it to the computer and setting it. So, it records 1080P in quicktime .mov files.. well .mov files anyway. When I import them to imovie, keeping full resolution, it takes ages. And the result is a directory full of .mov files again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Ibooks: one has OSX and the other is on the highest version of the old OS9. Something odd happened the other day with a new USB flash drive I started using. I was transfering files (word docs) onto a flash drive. When I inserted the flash drive in the old iBook, each file (and document) showed the date Dec 9, even though the docs were from Dec. 16. When I inserted the flash drive in the newer iBook, it showed the correct dates for each doc. I tried this back and forth, and found the same thing. Yet, all the dates are correct on everything on my hard drive on the old iBook. It only is a problem with this new flash drive I'm using. It never happened before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning I tried to play one of my albums and it told me it wasn't able to locate the files (on my external disk) so I located them manually and for some reason it has created a new iTunes folder in the root of my HDD (even though the iTunes prefs still pointed at the external disk) and moved the files in to that.
I deleted the album from the library and then imported the files from the new folder. It imported them fine and copied them to the exiting iTunes folder in the ext HDD but then immediately copied them back to the wrong iTunes folder. Then it told me it couldn't find them again!
I've now discovered 4 other albums that it's doing the same thing with and no matter what I do I can't get them to import, stay on the ext HDD and remain connected.
I've re-installed iTunes and restored my library file from before I upgraded to 10.1.1(4) but it's still doing the same thing.
I wanted to transfer his iTunes library and few pics and files but I had the wrong firewire cable so I went ahead and setup his MBP for him. I now have the correct cable and need to use migration asst. to transfer the iTunes library and files. I tried once but ran into problems. I am transferring from an iMac running Leopard that has 4 user accts. The problem I had is that it tried to transfer all accounts! All I want is the iTunes library from his account and a few folders from his desktop. What do I select when prompted during the migration? Would it be easier to erase the hard drive and reinstall SNL from the cd and use migration asst. from the beginning? I have installed MS Office 08 and I can reinstall that as well.

I have an odd Mail problem which I can't seem to solve. Yesterday I unchecked my "automatically set date and time" box in order to set the date back to May 7th for a particular printing task I needed to accomplish. I printed the pages but forgot to re-check this box so my system date was wrong for all of yesterday. I was hunting for a sent message later in the day when I realized what I had done.
I was going to report that my sent folder had stopped working, but, naturally, the messages were neatly filed exactly where they were supposed to be, sorted to May 7th, and not May 18th. Luckily I did not send a lot of messages yesterday! My question: Is there a way to manually change the date of a sent message? Is there a way to edit the header of a sent message? (Note to self: If you change the system date change it back)

My cursor still changes based on the context, like hovering over a link or in a text field, but displays the wrong icon. After focusing a text field, the cursor is a reggular arrow in the text editor and turns to the text staff outside of it when it should be an arrow. When I print multiple checks they print in the wrong sequence. If I have checks 401, 402 and 403 in the printer in that order, they print 403, 402 and 401. How can I change this to print not collated?

Jpg files were produced on PowerBookG4 with Tiger and saved on a Freecom 1TB disk, connected over FireWire. (This disk probably is not the issue (90% sure)).Updated to Leopard 10.5.8 by an Apple support center (since no disks available to buy). PowerBookG4 will not any longer read the jpg files correctly.They get corrupted and may have horizontal stripes, or fields.These fields may be black.The same files read ok on an old iBook with Tiger, as well as a newer machine with Snow Lion, when Freecom is connected to these machinesImporting new jpg files to the PowerBookG4/Leopard also display corrupted Have tried to (but did not help)rescale a picture with Graphic Converter on a friend's Snow Lion machine, and saved to this disk (new image)connect the Freecom disk to the old iBook/Tiger and shared it out, then moved files across home network into the PowerBook. Have not tried to (should I?)remove the resource fork.

I was trying to delete one file , so i dragged to trash, then all of a sudden I realize my entire Drobo (3TB Huge) was highlighted and deleting to my trash! So now I have a trash folder full all my Drobo's content and I can't figure out how to get it all back to "put back"! I'm afraid that I am going to inadvertently empty trash and lose my entire Drobo's contents! I need to figure out how to undo or put back ... come on Apple. Why'd you make this so difficult?

I have MacJournal (from the recent MacHeist bundle), and whenever I type "MacJou..." into the Spotlight search box, MacJournal turns up with it's icon and three (asian looking) letters/signs next to it. Sure enough, the application's name in Finder is "MacJournal", and it's english when I launch it. I have English as main language in System Preferences.
Not really preventing me from doing anything with it, but it's strange. And who likes strange things on her/his computer? So: what can I do?

I have my Mac Pro set up to boot at a certain time every morning using the energy saver schedule feature. I have also set a disk I've named "Lion HD" as my startup disk. I also have a disk named "Lion HD back up" which is an exact bootable clone created with "super duper". Every now & then the computer boots into the Lion backup rather than the Lion HD. Any ideas why this happens & what I can do to fix it?

I wonder though, is it possible to watch .vob files on Front Row. Some of my early experiments allowed me to create these files, and I played them on Intervideo. Since I am switching or should I say have switched, I wonder do I have to rerip the DVDs to Video_TS folders or could I play my .vob files?
I simply cannot find the answer and if I find something related, the information uses the older Mac operating systems like Tiger and not leopard.
I am trying to view some ebooks @ netlibrary, but the files are .dll. I did a little research but couldn't find much. Everything I did find stated that that file type was Windows specific. The threads I Googled were pretty old though. Is there anyway I can open these files in Leopard?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to force quit an application on my first gen MacBook running Mac OS X 10.6.3, so I looked up the short cut key command from the Apple menu. I saw that it was option-command-power-button. I pressed these keys, and my Mac instantly displayed a black screen. After about five seconds, my Mac made the usual sounds of starting up. I booted up, and nothing seemed to have been affected, so I double checked Console, which didn't help much. I looked up the short cut key command for force quit online. The Internet says its option-command-esc. I tried the command, and up popped the force quit prompt. So why is the short cut key command WRONG on my Apple menu?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 1 Gb pen drive, and I've just noticed that I can't even change a file's name because the system says something like "the operation cannot be completed because the disk "x" is full. Delete some files and try again" (please note that my system is in Spanish and the translation might differ).
The point is that I can see "85 MB available" in the status bar... Some files I can change them, some others I can't... I can copy some files and some others I cannot... What's going on here?
So my teacher's iMac is behaving weirdly. She turns it on and she is asked to type in the password to log in. It's not set as automatic login. But it says the password is incorrect. She is positive the password is typed in correctly. She reboots it and types in the same password. This time, it lets her in. I tried repairing permissions but to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever turning on my computer, my webclip shifts to an area it's not supposed to be. It doesn't do this as long as it's on, even when I go out and into Dashboard. What I do:
1) Safari > Preferences > Advanced > "Check Never use font sizes smaller than (28)"
2) File > Open in Dashboard
3) Edit to smallest size
4) Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Uncheck "Never use font sizes smaller than (28)"

According to the screenshot, both Users (green) and System (red) uses 0,19% CPU each. Which means that idle (black) should be around 99%, which it clearly isn't. If I check each process individually, none is using more than 1% of CPU. The screenshot is taken after a reboot and I don't use and third-party background services like VMWare. It's Mac Pro 2.66 Quad (2009).

So I tried to set up bootcamp on my 10.5.6 17" iMac. the windows installation failed because of a bad disc so I restored my computer using my OS X disc and time machine. Now my display in OS X is being forced to 1024x768 and I cannot change it to anything else. It looks terrible and there are some artifacts... Any idea what the heck happened?
