I used to be able to copy and paste easily with pre-leopard. What happened and does anyone have a work-around?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI used a cool app called filecutter to cut and paste files (move them). Snow leopard broke the app. I can no longer right click on file and see the filecutter option. I guess path finder has the ability, but I do not need all the extra stuff it comes with.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIt is as simmple as the title. I can not drag and drop icons or text or folders. Nothing. As for cut, copy, and paste they do not work either. I am trying to back up my files so I can do a clean install of snow leopard. I have leopard currently.

Few days back, when i was doing some normal work on MS word, i found that i my paste option is not working. Then i tried to use it for normal work like Moving Pics from here and there, but still found the same result. When i try to select anything and then copy/cut anything, it got the intial action, but when i got to paste it anywhere, it won't do the action, and after checking in status bar, (above), It shows Paste option Faded, like i can't use it. If some one from Users or any one From Apple Support can help me please do the need full done. I have lotss of data in my Macbook, and i need to move it to somewhere else.

I can't copy and paste, drag and drop, or use spotlight on my macbook purchased in 2007 running mac os x 10.5.8.
I noticed the problem when using serato scratch live initially because it wouldn't let me drag and drop the songs in to cue. I was able to use the key board short cuts and moved on. I then tried to clear some items from my desk top to the trash can and was unable to drag them. I was able to open the desk top in the finder and use the file, move to trash option. The problem became unbearable when I was reorganizing a word document and could not cut and paste within the document. The commands did not work from edit either. I have found that I am able to cut but not paste in the mean time.
A user kindly pointed me to a link using the terminal to see if I had a tmp folder. I did but the date was from October of 2007 which is around when I bought the machine. I have run repair permissions from disk utitilty as suggested in yet another forum to no avail...hence reposting with my specific symptoms? Short of reinstalling mac os x, what are my options DOC?

In snow leopard when I copy something and then paste it, it pastes what I had copied previously, not the most recent copy.

how to embed an image with a link, or embed a Microsoft Word document with a hyperlink built within the document -- not as an attachment into my email -- but where it shows as the email content when opened! Does ANYONE know the secret? Can it be done, or not? My PC clients do it all the time easily. Then I want to be able to send the embedded image/document (not as an attachment, but visable within the email when opened) to many email contacts at once, BUT the individuals receiving them DO NOT SEE the other email contacts.

I want to unclutter my macbook and I have found that I have duplicated files in my All Document folder. I want to delete these files so it is not taking up unwanted space on my hard drive. I have saved what I wanted in folders that I created for that subject. Everything else I want to delete. My question is if I delete this stuff will it cause my computer to mess up, I wont be deleting important files for programs to need to run with, will I. I also found that I have two "All Document" folders and two "Download" folders can I delete one so I only have one of each.

I'm using OSX Snow Leopard. Spotlight was unable to find a document in a folder. It found several others that have almost the same name, but not the one I was looking for. By scrolling down in the finder window I found it without spotlight right away.
To better explain my problem:
I was looking for a document that was called "Paperless". Spotlight found several document in different folders like "Paperlessone", Paperless2" etc. But not able to find "Paperless"
I checked the Spotlight options and it says, that it is looking for everything.
just wondering if anyone knows how to stop attachments in the email i am sending from appearing in the body of my email as the full sized document.i am hoping to find an option that will allow me to only have a document icon with the name of the document.

Anyone noticed when making Combined pdf files (into single document) that Acrobat Pro only shows the first page, and not the full document. Meaning that one has to manually pull the sidebar down to scroll other pages? My install went perfectly, aside from a few minor glitches, Illustrator and Photoshop (CS4) quit now and again, but removed permissions, restarted and repaired permissions and is a lot more manageable now.
Safari and Mail are almost twice as fast now. Let's see how soon 10.6.1 appears.
Not too long ago I looked through the list of things I had put in the Trash. Some how I over looked a document I should have removed from the Trash and Empetyed Trash. There is some way to locate what has been empteyed from the Trash and get it onto the Desktop. How do I do that?
I have not Secured Empty Trash... so my document should still be able to be found and removed from the Emptey Trash.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some MP3 albums in a folder on my hard drive. When I select them to move them to another folder on the hard drive I cannot select "CUT" ... it is greyed out.
I know this is against Mac's philosophy but I really want a simple cut/paste or copy/paste with shortcuts for my finder. Is that anyhow possible? I have tried doing this via QuickSilver, but there has to be an easier way.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a OS X newbie after using Windows for almost 15 years. One thing I am having trouble figuring out is how to cut & paste files and folders similar to what can be done in a Windows environment (i.e. cut using Ctrl-X, paste using Ctrl-v).
An example is if I want to move files from my hard drive to a flashdrive...is there way to cut and paste (i.e. move) the files? My current method is to just drag the files the new destination (which copies them) and then drag the files from the old location to the trash bin....
When I look at the 'edit' menu in Finder, the 'cut' and 'paste' options are grayed out which makes me think they are unavailable.
How is the thermal paste in the 2008 Mac Pro?
Is it applied well?
Did any of you guys remove it and replace it with a more high-performance compound such as Arctic Silver 5 or Ceramique?
I have a feeling that Apple did a bad job correctly applying the thermal paste because some of the temperatures that I am seeing are a little on the high side.
