OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Paste Option Is Not Working In Word?
Apr 28, 2012
Few days back, when i was doing some normal work on MS word, i found that i my paste option is not working. Then i tried to use it for normal work like Moving Pics from here and there, but still found the same result. When i try to select anything and then copy/cut anything, it got the intial action, but when i got to paste it anywhere, it won't do the action, and after checking in status bar, (above), It shows Paste option Faded, like i can't use it. If some one from Users or any one From Apple Support can help me please do the need full done. I have lotss of data in my Macbook, and i need to move it to somewhere else.Â
I understand that in order to view your clipboard (iMac) that you click "Edit" on the Finder, and "show clipboard". I created a public link (Alias) and it has gone into my clipboard but, when I click on it, to copy and then paste into, for example, an email, I don't have an option to do that. Therefore, I have to write the link down and then re-type it into the email.
I am switching from blogger to Word Press and am frustrated in Word Press because I can not copy and paste. I can't do it with my command c and v or my mouse. I can highlight with the mouse but then can't paste it anywhere.
Occasionally I can copy a full paragraph and then try and paste it and only the first sentence will paste not the entire thing.
My designer is also on a mac and is not having any problems in my wordpress.
I'm trying to paste a URL in Word 2008 on the Citations List by hitting the "plus" sign at the bottom. Seems like a very simple task but I'm having no luck.
I'm creating a Service in Automator, and would like incorporate an Apple script that will "cut" the first word in any Numbers cell that I select, and "paste" it into the cell directly to the left of the the cell I've selected. Let's assume the column I'm selecting from is Column C. As a very rough start, here is what I have (with some of things I'm trying to accomplish in brackets): on run {input, parameters} try set MyText to input as string set FirstWord to first word of MyText set [remove the first word and a single space from what I've selected]tell application "Numbers"tell table 1 of sheet 1 of document 1 set theRow to [the row of the cell I've selected] set value of cell 3 of theRow to FirstWord end tellend tell end try return inputend run.
I am working on a Mac Powerbook with OS 10.5.8. I thought I was confused, but when I use MS Word I could not locate certain functions. I discovered that when I open a new document the TOOL functions (between FONT and TABLE) located on the top of the screen disappears. As soon as I hit the button to open the new document it leaves the screen. It is there before I open the new document. I am not talking about the TOOLBOX. I have no problems with that. TOOLS includes things such as spelling check, creating envelopes etc.
So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted. Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity. We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions". Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems. We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor. Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves. Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???
I cannot save a document in Word or Word-compatible form. The only options I am given in File is "Save a Version," which does not provide for saving in Word. How do I do this?
I have a client working on an 11" MacBook Air purchased early this year reporting that she cannot access copy and paste across applications: "At the moment I can’t COPY anything in Word or indeed any other documents, including emails etc. Driving me mad. Only the CUT option comes up - and as I’m working against a deadline… "Â
And she also reports this issue with Apple Mail which seems to have lost its preference file settings: "Also bloody Mail programme has now changed its layout and everything is bloody FIXED - so I can’t move it about the screen while I dig up another document I need to refer to. It wasn’t like this before… again very labour intensive and irritating. I have to use my online Google mail to get around this resistance… "Â
I have suggested that she uses Disk Utility to repair permissions on her Hard Disk and then restart in Safe Mode to see whether Copy and Paste is restored and also that Mail is back in order, through a corrupted Preference file may require resetting.Â
I thought that she may have been hit by a Trojan. I'm reminded of the strange symptoms experienced by clients using MS Office when the Flashback Trojan struck in 2012.Â
All of a sudden the copy and paste function just stopped working. I'm running a 2007 imac intel with Snow Leopard on it. Tried rebooting several times. I'm not even sure it's the paste, it will not copy. Not with key command, not with right click, not with drop menu. Tried different keyboard.
Everthing's been fine since I first setup my Mac Mini over a year ago....2 or 3 days ago I noticed when I tried to do a cut/paste from a mail message to a field (using Cmd-C Cmd-V) in a web page, it didn't work. It's alsways worked before but I chalked it up to the web form not taking "pasted" input. But then I tried from a text document to an email...same story. I highlight text with the mouse, do Cmd-C and get a "bong" sound, then go to where I want to paste, do a Cmd-V and nothing gets pasted. I take it the "bong" means some sort of error or invalid input occured?
I restarted the Mini and it worked for a while (at least when I tried it right after logging in). Then yesterday I had to restart my Mini again and the shortcuts aren't working again. If I highlight text and then right-click the mouse and select copy, then move to where I want to paste and right-click and select paste it works fine....just the keyboard shortcuts don't work. I checked the sytem prefs, keyboard pane and saw nothing out of the ordinary.....any ideas out there?
This morning, On my Macbook Pro, I was able to use the option-tab shortcut to cycle through windows within an application. This afternoon, when I do the same keystroke, I just get a tab character. Or I cycle through the links on a website. The option key is working, as I can use other keyboard shortcuts. I even plugged in an external keyboard and it is responding to the option key. But the shortcut option-tab appears to no longer be working.
I have the fear that I accidentally pressed some weird key combination without realizing it that remaps the key for accessibility purposes. I've looked around the system preferences and I can't see anything that would reassign the combo. Does anyone have an idea of what happened?
Have just bought a new aluminium wired keyboard for my 17" iMac Core 2, running Leopard. This is a real sweet keyboard and I love it. One problem though, I cannot boot into windows. Seems the Option key does not work during the boot process.
I used a cool app called filecutter to cut and paste files (move them). Snow leopard broke the app. I can no longer right click on file and see the filecutter option. I guess path finder has the ability, but I do not need all the extra stuff it comes with.
I am running 10.5.8 OS. Have discovered that in some programs, Photoshop for one, the option key no longer does what is required in that program. I purchased a new keyboard and had the same problem.Â
If I search files in my local server using "File->Find" in Finder, zero item are showing. Search option is not working for local servers. Here, I didn't use Spotlight option for searching. Since, In Spotlight option, there is no option to search files in "Servers".
It is as simmple as the title. I can not drag and drop icons or text or folders. Nothing. As for cut, copy, and paste they do not work either. I am trying to back up my files so I can do a clean install of snow leopard. I have leopard currently.
I can't copy and paste, drag and drop, or use spotlight on my macbook purchased in 2007 running mac os x 10.5.8.Â
I noticed the problem when using serato scratch live initially because it wouldn't let me drag and drop the songs in to cue. I was able to use the key board short cuts and moved on. I then tried to clear some items from my desk top to the trash can and was unable to drag them. I was able to open the desk top in the finder and use the file, move to trash option. The problem became unbearable when I was reorganizing a word document and could not cut and paste within the document. The commands did not work from edit either. I have found that I am able to cut but not paste in the mean time.Â
A user kindly pointed me to a link using the terminal to see if I had a tmp folder. I did but the date was from October of 2007 which is around when I bought the machine. I have run repair permissions from disk utitilty as suggested in yet another forum to no avail...hence reposting with my specific symptoms? Short of reinstalling mac os x, what are my options DOC?
I had this issue a while ago but it never came to this. I have bootcamp and want to change OS, so I restart while holding option key and here are 2 outcomes
1. The screen stays grey and mac is just standing like this, I waited for 5 minutes but no options came out.
2. If I hold option immediately while Mac is restarting screen stays black and sleep button is lid up all the time, nothing happens.
I cannot "see" my Windows partition from the preferences pane in bootcamp (osx) (where I would go to set Windows as a boot partition). The only way I can make Windows to start is by using the Option key at boot.
Strange this is, the partition is visible on my Osx desktop (mounted), I can browse the files etc... but Bootcamp somehow thinks it's gone.
I have Vista/OSX installed on my 8-core Mac Pro (early 2008). When I'm attempting to switch OS by holding alt/option during the loadup, it's no longer detecting the keypress. I have the USB wired Apple keyboard fed through my 24in dell monitor and then connected to a USB spot on the back of my mac. I've noticed that when I plug the keyboard directly into the USB on the front of the Mac, the keypress is detected just fine. The weird part is that the way I have it set up now (with the keyboard connecting through the monitor) used to work without a problem to get to the OS load screen. I recently had to reinstall OSX because of a hard drive failure and ever since, it's not detecting. It's annoying to have to unplug/replug my keyboard, just to boot in windows.
I installed windows on my early 2010 MBP, and it's been working perfectly so far, but today when I woke up and had to use windows, nothing seems to happen when I hold down (either) ALT when booting I filmed this with my phone [URL] to help you see what my problem is. I press the power button, it makes that boot sound while I hold ALT down. Then it just shows the mouse without the two harddiscs. I'm completely new to mac, so I don't know if I can fix this easily, or I have to re-install windows (7). Or if it can be fixed with the OS X dvd that came with the MacBook Pro. If specs is needed, this is what I'm running:
Early 2010 MacBook Pro 15" i7 2.66 4 gb ram 7200 rpm harddrive HR Glossy screen Fixed: My USB hub apparently stopped windows from showing up.
