Id like to know if there is a web page that i can print off a list of keyboard shortcuts and commands.
My macbook 2006 recently would not boot properly. By that i mean it takes about a good 5 minutes to boot to a messed up looking desktop.
Before i restore the system i need to get some files off of the machine. (The gui side freezes when i try to drag and drop).
I can boot into single use mode and use terminal but i do not know how to do the command mv /documents...etc but i don't know what drive my usb stick is or that it is mounted.
The guy said its a Powerbook but I haven't been able to find anything on Powerbooks having black keyboards...any ideas?

I tried IPCONFIG in Terminal, but it just gives me "IPCONFIG <command> where command is " a whole bunch of commands.
After installing 10.6.1 I am facing a problem with part of the keyboard shortcuts(the part I have checked).
In the application part I found the shortcuts I have configured in 10.5. But, now they are not functional.
I have tried to assigned this commands other shortcuts but they won't work.
I suppose there is something to configure to make these shorts cut to work.
For ergonomic reasons, I have begun to use two keyboards at once. However, even with Sticky Keys enabled, modifier keys, such as shift and command, pressed on one keyboard, do not affect the other. Before I delve into Apple's IOKit library in an attempt to write my own driver, I was wondering if anyone was aware of an existing Preference or Utility which fixes this problem.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI know that the base 2.0GHz MacBooks do not feature the backlit keyboards of the higher-end models, but I was wondering if the actual backlight is physically in these lower-end models and just disabled in firmware or software? Or is it missing entirely?

I have experience with Chiclet keyboards with the first generation MacBook I used from 2006 to 2007 and the HP DM3z I am currently using since I bought it in October 2009, and am really satisfied with it, but also was really satsifed with my MacBook Pro "classic" keyboard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two keyboards, one is a regular Mac keyboard, and the other is a Microsoft wireless one. The problem is I'm used to the command key being where the alt key is on the wireless one and the option key being where the windows flag key is, which is acting as the command key... Is it possible to remap the keys of each individual keyboard instead of on the system? Or would I have to change it every time I switch keyboards? I'm using DoubleCommand as my keyboard remapping software.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you have to buy your new iMac from one of the retail stores rather than online you will no doubt have had worries about the keyboard.
With the small keyboard bundled many stores will not allow the option of a larger keyboards. Some people have posted here however that some stores where swapping out keyboards for them, others even managed to get a free full size keyboard sent to them after calling apple and complaining.
I'm hoping people will post their keyboard experiences here along with the apple store they visited to help build up a reference list for others in this situation.
I'll start by saying the apple store in Liverpool ONE , will not, under any circumstances swap out keyboards.
Logic Keyboards. I just wanted to hear thoughts and opinions on these for Final Cut Pro. I had a look around and most threads about these were quite old and I wanted to get an up to date perspective. Also, I'm a total noob with video editing and am *just* getting into it but I'd really like to know the usefulness of those little mouse-like wheels. Also, which one should I buy if you recommend it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf a MacBook Pro 15 is your only computer, can it use a remote keyboard? I find that I would rather use the ergonomic keyboards as opposed to the keyboard that is found on the laptop itself. I can type considerably faster with more accuracy and getting to the mouse rather than using the touch pad is also quicker and less time consuming.

I currently use a Logictech keyboard with my MB Pro, and it is fine. The only issues are that it is big. I do like the somewhat ergonomic key layout. I am, however, interested in finding a keyboard that has both a numeric keypad (disqualifies the Apple wireless) and that can turn on my MB Pro without my having to open the computer and hit the button. I know, a stupid thing, but I like it. Does the Apple Wired keyboard have the on/off ability? Anyone use the RocketFish keyboard? Has a keypad.

Anyway, because of the symbols on the keys it is hard to see the letters. I have the aluminum keyboard that came with my mac pro sitting around and I was wondering if it was possible to use both the aluminum keyboard and my editing keyboard at the same time Or will it create conflicts?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnybody know if the Apple wireless keyboard works with the XBOX 360? Been searching the web (google+mroogle) and haven't found anything except for "if it needs a driver it probably doesn't work". And if you have a wireless keyboard working with the 360 would you mind to post it here? Not much material on the interweb.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo if the new iMacs don't come out soon, I'll be getting a refurb. Now my question is about the keyboard. Is it possible to get a bigger keyboard with number pad instead of the smaller ones? I know you can edit it in the cart on a new mac, but you can't on refurb. Any chance that you can take it to the Apple Store and get the small keyboard exchanged with the larger one?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi've been using the aluminum wired keyboard for the last 2 years or so. i just upgraded to the new BT version.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new keyboard for my iMac after a beer spill damaged my old keyboard. I went to Best Buy and noticed that all that was available was the new, very thin model of the keyboard with no numeric keypad. I am finding myself making lots of typing errors on this keyboard. Apparently, key sizes are different and the arrangement of even the shift key is not identical to what it was before. Is there any way to buy the old-style keyboards? Or are they out of production now?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIm in the market for a used Apple wireless keyboard. On eBay I noticed two different models, the A1255 and the A1314. Whats the difference? Are they the same size? I am planning to get the BulletTrain Express keyboard and trackpad tray.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work at our university support desk, and the other day we had a girl bring her macbook pro in. The twist is that she did not shut her mbp off and carried it over open in a downpour. Needless to say it was absolutely drenched. Fortunately the computer suffered no side affects. I personally have spilled a drink on mine (I proceeded to turn it off and remove the battery) but I suffered no side affects. So out of curiosity, do MBs/MBPs have sealed keyboards to prevent against liquid damage?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a quick question about bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse. For some reason I need to pair 2 of each to my iMac. I know I can not pair 2 IR remotes, I learned it the hard way now I have an extra remote laying around.
I guess the keyboard and mouse would work since they are bluetooth but if anyone did it before it would be great to know.
What is the print screen command on the Apple keyboards?

Yesterday I updated my iMac's software using the Software Update and ever since then a message appears on the desktop that says...
"Searching for movie file "filename"...
It gives me the option to press "Stop" but I cannot stop it. Shortly after this message a second message appears that says...
"The movie file "filename" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot be played properly."
It gives me the option to click "Cancel" or "Search" but I cannot click on it at all.
I searched the problem online, and it says that it has something to do with iTunes, but the file isn't even in iTunes.
I am going to the software update and when it loads the app store does not show up. I've tried looking at the different updates for over 6 months and still havn't found the mac app store.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a three-four year old iBook which runs fine (I mainly use my iBook for email, Internet, and Microsoft Office) but I'm thinking of upgrading my OS and am wondering what would be the best OS to upgrade to. In case you're wondering, I'm considering the upgrade because there are a couple of applications I would like to demo (and maybe buy) that require a minimum OS of 10.4.
