I'm considering a wireless bluetooth keyboard to use with my iPad, but I see what appear to be older and newer ones on eBay. What are the primary differences between the versions?

I also love a clean workspace and a wireless keyboard could remove yet another wire from my desk. Do you consider wireless and/or bluetooth keyboards safe?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new keyboard for my iMac after a beer spill damaged my old keyboard. I went to Best Buy and noticed that all that was available was the new, very thin model of the keyboard with no numeric keypad. I am finding myself making lots of typing errors on this keyboard. Apparently, key sizes are different and the arrangement of even the shift key is not identical to what it was before. Is there any way to buy the old-style keyboards? Or are they out of production now?

for whatever reason i cannot get used to typing on this thing! it feels like the keys are smaller or something. hard to explain.
A customer asked for an upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.7 on his Mac Pro.I told him before i would do any install he needed to backup his stuff incase the HDD needed to be wiped (which it did).so my question is really can i use the time machine backup on the new OS even though it was done on the older OS?

I've heard that there have been some differences between the older and newer Macbook screens - I'm thinking about buying a reburb unibody macbook and want to know how significant the difference is. If it's big enough I'll use my student discount to get a new mac with an iPod and then sell the iPod for the price difference, but that is a lot more work and initial money spent vs just getting a refurb. Does anyone have any experience with both?

It's not the most recent MBP - I bought it just before they refreshed the line a week or two later. If the display will work, which adapter do I need? Micro DVI? Mini DisplayPort?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new MBP (running Snow Leopard). I used Migration Assistant to migrate the data and setting from my old MBP (running Leopard) from my Time Capsule backup onto the new MBP. All went smoothly, and I used the new computer for a day to check all was well. This included testing Time Machine on the existing Time Capsule - all the old backups were there and it worked perfectly. the new computer also successfully added to these backups. So I wanted to refresh the old mac, so I booted from the old Leopard install disk, wiped the drive with Disk Utility, and did a clean install of Leopard. All was fine. Now I connected to the Time Capsule and attempted to use Migration Assistant to put a my stuff back onto the old computer. It wouldn't do this (couldn't see any backups). Does Migration Assistant only allow transfers from old systems onto new, not the other way round? This is a major bummer, if so. How can I get my stuff from my new computer back onto my old? Do I have to upgrade the old one to Snow Leopard in order to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a quick question about bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse. For some reason I need to pair 2 of each to my iMac. I know I can not pair 2 IR remotes, I learned it the hard way now I have an extra remote laying around.
I guess the keyboard and mouse would work since they are bluetooth but if anyone did it before it would be great to know.
Have a new (for me) iMac and need to transfer all 10.4 files including mail, etc.from an older iMac to my newer one whioch is running 10.6.

All I want to know is, apart from the obvious 1 or 2TB of space available in the new versions is there any other differences? Both are 802.11n and are dual band. What I have noticed thought is that there are refinements which allow it to be backed up 75% faster than the previous generation and it says there is a 50% better performance over Wifi with 25% greater range?
How is this possible if they are both 802.11n? Also Is this true even when connecting via Ethernet? In terms of when I backup over Ethernet will it be 75% more faster? It'll be on my desk so I don't really care about the wireless capabilities. Lastly, will it work with my network, please click on this link as it explains my setup.

So just to reiterate, will I notice a difference in back up speeds when connected via Ethernet between the two versions. I'm getting it quite cheap, for about $50 Brand New sealed.
I recently replaced the RAM on my aluminum iMac from 1gb to 4gb. Can I put the 1gb RAM in my older white iMac which has only 512mb RAM? These are the exact 2 iMac's I have.(not my pic)

In the application part I found the shortcuts I have configured in 10.5. But, now they are not functional.
I have tried to assigned this commands other shortcuts but they won't work.
I suppose there is something to configure to make these shorts cut to work.
For ergonomic reasons, I have begun to use two keyboards at once. However, even with Sticky Keys enabled, modifier keys, such as shift and command, pressed on one keyboard, do not affect the other. Before I delve into Apple's IOKit library in an attempt to write my own driver, I was wondering if anyone was aware of an existing Preference or Utility which fixes this problem.

I have experience with Chiclet keyboards with the first generation MacBook I used from 2006 to 2007 and the HP DM3z I am currently using since I bought it in October 2009, and am really satisfied with it, but also was really satsifed with my MacBook Pro "classic" keyboard.

The problem is I'm used to the command key being where the alt key is on the wireless one and the option key being where the windows flag key is, which is acting as the command key... Is it possible to remap the keys of each individual keyboard instead of on the system? Or would I have to change it every time I switch keyboards? I'm using DoubleCommand as my keyboard remapping software.

With the small keyboard bundled many stores will not allow the option of a larger keyboards. Some people have posted here however that some stores where swapping out keyboards for them, others even managed to get a free full size keyboard sent to them after calling apple and complaining.
I'm hoping people will post their keyboard experiences here along with the apple store they visited to help build up a reference list for others in this situation.
I'll start by saying the apple store in Liverpool ONE , will not, under any circumstances swap out keyboards.
Logic Keyboards. I just wanted to hear thoughts and opinions on these for Final Cut Pro. I had a look around and most threads about these were quite old and I wanted to get an up to date perspective. I find that I would rather use the ergonomic keyboards as opposed to the keyboard that is found on the laptop itself. I can type considerably faster with more accuracy and getting to the mouse rather than using the touch pad is also quicker and less time consuming.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.
I've got a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011 and I see unknown bluetooth devices under Bluetooth in System Preferences.
I never used Bluetooth on my MacBook but these devices appear.

I currently use a Logictech keyboard with my MB Pro, and it is fine. The only issues are that it is big. I do like the somewhat ergonomic key layout. I am, however, interested in finding a keyboard that has both a numeric keypad (disqualifies the Apple wireless) and that can turn on my MB Pro without my having to open the computer and hit the button. I know, a stupid thing, but I like it. Does the Apple Wired keyboard have the on/off ability? Anyone use the RocketFish keyboard? Has a keypad.

Anyway, because of the symbols on the keys it is hard to see the letters. I have the aluminum keyboard that came with my mac pro sitting around and I was wondering if it was possible to use both the aluminum keyboard and my editing keyboard at the same time Or will it create conflicts?

Is it possible to get a bigger keyboard with number pad instead of the smaller ones? I know you can edit it in the cart on a new mac, but you can't on refurb. Any chance that you can take it to the Apple Store and get the small keyboard exchanged with the larger one?
