Dec 24, 2010

Im in the market for a used Apple wireless keyboard. On eBay I noticed two different models, the A1255 and the A1314. Whats the difference? Are they the same size? I am planning to get the BulletTrain Express keyboard and trackpad tray.

Hardware :: Wireless Keyboards - Ergonomic Key Layouts

Mar 29, 2009

I currently use a Logictech keyboard with my MB Pro, and it is fine. The only issues are that it is big. I do like the somewhat ergonomic key layout. I am, however, interested in finding a keyboard that has both a numeric keypad (disqualifies the Apple wireless) and that can turn on my MB Pro without my having to open the computer and hit the button. I know, a stupid thing, but I like it. Does the Apple Wired keyboard have the on/off ability? Anyone use the RocketFish keyboard? Has a keypad.

Hardware :: Wireless Keyboards Work With XBOX 360?

Jun 19, 2009

Anybody know if the Apple wireless keyboard works with the XBOX 360? Been searching the web (google+mroogle) and haven't found anything except for "if it needs a driver it probably doesn't work". And if you have a wireless keyboard working with the 360 would you mind to post it here? Not much material on the interweb.

MacBook Pro :: Thinkpad Vs Apple Keyboards

Aug 28, 2010

I just want your opinions on which keyboard is better... the Traditional, Thinkpad-reputable Lenovo X201 keyboard or the Chiclet keyboard of the MacBook Pro. I have experience with Chiclet keyboards with the first generation MacBook I used from 2006 to 2007 and the HP DM3z I am currently using since I bought it in October 2009, and am really satisfied with it, but also was really satsifed with my MacBook Pro "classic" keyboard.

IMac :: Keyboards And Apple Stores

Mar 17, 2009

If you have to buy your new iMac from one of the retail stores rather than online you will no doubt have had worries about the keyboard.

With the small keyboard bundled many stores will not allow the option of a larger keyboards. Some people have posted here however that some stores where swapping out keyboards for them, others even managed to get a free full size keyboard sent to them after calling apple and complaining.

I'm hoping people will post their keyboard experiences here along with the apple store they visited to help build up a reference list for others in this situation.

I'll start by saying the apple store in Liverpool ONE , will not, under any circumstances swap out keyboards.

MacBook Pro :: Apple Wired Keyboard - Differences Between One With And Without Number Pad

Sep 1, 2009

I want to get the apple wired keyboard (not the wireless), but I'm undecided on which version. Is the shorter wired version a lot more cramped than the longer one, in respect to the majorily used keys, or is the spacing the same between the characters for both keyboards. I never use a num pad normally and would like to free up a little space on my desk, but I'm worried that the rest of the keys will be more cramped and uncomfortable to type on.

Hardware :: Aluminum Apple Remote Does Not Have An Apple Logo?

Jan 8, 2010

I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.

Hardware :: Aluminum Wireless Keyboard Won't Turn On

Nov 9, 2009

I got a message that my batteries were low in the wireless keyboard. I let it go until the connection dropped because I did not have any batteries handy. I have since replaced the batteries with brand new ones and I cannot get the keyboard to turn on. I have pressed and held the power button on the side but the green light never comes on. Is there some sort of special reset sequence I can do on it?

Hardware :: Methods For Cleaning The Apple Aluminum Keyboard?

Dec 24, 2007

After having purchased a wired Apple Aluminum keyboard, I noticed there were no screws or rivets. So I did a quick search and discovered that glue was the main binding agent, and that disassembly of the keyboard is nearly impossible, well, you could disassemble it, but it most likely would never see the light of a caps lock key again.

So, to all of you that are the proud owners of either the wired or wireless versions, what is your preferred methods of keeping this baby clean?

OS X :: Function Keys On Bluetooth Apple Keyboard (aluminum)

Nov 6, 2009

I recently received a bluetooth ultra-thin keyboard to use with my laptop while I have it hooked up to it's external monitor, the only trouble is that I can't seem to get the function keys to work properly. I've managed to go in and reset the dashboard control / brightness using the keyboard pane in the system settings, but I can't seem to set the volume / media control buttons. Any ideas how to get my keyboard working properly? If it matters at all, I'm running this on a 2.4 unibody MBP.

MacBook Pro :: Get Liquid Between The Aluminum And Plastic Of Apple Logo On Lid?

May 8, 2010

I installed an invisible shield on my macbook pro, and was concerned about how suceptible it may be to get water, or another liquid in the top of the lid via the apple logo? You spray the solution on the shield and then squeegee it around with some force, is it possible to get liquid inside the case via this boundary? Even something like a spray lcd cleaner or a damp cloth? How well sealed is the transition between the aluminum and the plastic of the logo?

Hardware :: Apple Wireless Keyboard Vs. Apple Wireless Pro Keyboard?

Aug 19, 2010

I was just wondering what all of your thoughts were regarding these two keyboards. I know I can't get the Wireless Pro new anymore, however I can get it used for $20 from someone I know.

The new aluminum one however, I can get for about $40 used or just buy a new one for $70. I'm looking to buy a used one so it's pretty much the Wireless Pro for $20 vs the Wireless Aluminum for $40.

This will be going towards a set-up with my MBP which will be on an mstand, with an external monitor. I've already gotten the Magic Mouse so I'm trying to find a nice Bluetooth keyboard to compliment it.

Applications :: Control ITunes Volume (not System Volume) From Apple Aluminum Keyboard?

Oct 20, 2009

I have a Mac Pro and not too long ago I swapped from a fat, heavy and filthy white Apple Keyboard to a new skinny silver one. I like it, and also love that the F7-9 Skip Back-Pause/Play-Skip Forward keys work for iTunes, even when another app is active (what's the word I'm looking for - in focus or whatever). But I use Optical output, so the volume keys (F10-12) don't do anything. I know that, when iTunes is the active app, I can command-+/- to change the volume, but I'd love to be able to map the F10-12 keys to do that - without having to have iTunes active (playing, but not the active window).

Before I delve into Apple's IOKit library in an attempt to write my own driver, I was wondering if anyone was aware of an existing Preference or Utility which fixes this problem.

Hardware :: Apple And Usb Wireless Go Together?

Jul 26, 2009

I have a question. I just went to sell an extra, original apple wirelless keyboard. You know, the ones with the big keys, and that have the number pad on the end? So anyways, I get there and as soon as I show it to him, I open it and say, "See, it is mint. I have 2 and this one has never been used. It is bluetooth and" Then Bam! I get interrupted. He lets me know that he can't use it on his windows machine because of the lack of bluetooth. I told him, to my knowledge all apple's wireless keyboards are bluetooth. He said, "no thats' not right." So when did apple make a keyboard that featured a wireless dongle? I would like to know? I had to buy a dongle in the past to get it to work with my old powermac. Could someone enlighten me?
