, did a simple drag copy of a few missing fonts from my back up disk to my main disk.
the copying of less than 1 meg files has hung... (been just rotating the progress bars for almost an hour)
the stop copying button does not work...
is there anyway I can force quit it otherwise.
how to stop Outlook from copying email received? Every email I receive is copied hundreds or thousands of times in my Inbox.

After leaving machine on all night as I usuaaly do in the middle of a project I came in this morning to find power button blinking no -stop. No images on displays.Have reseated RAM (original 2G from Apple and subsequent modules (4x2) from OWC) twice and no change. No peripherals connected and no change.

I think I have found a flaw in OSX 10.6.4 file copying..I normall back up my files, by dragging from a folder on my HD to an identical folder on my external HD.The folder I am copying has 86 files in it, but there are only about two dozen new files added since my last back up.I have been telling it by the dialogue box, not to replace identical files in the back up folder, and clicking the check box to apply to all."but when I press the dont copy button, in the copy progress box it says it is copying 86 files. WTF is going on...!@#$%^&*().
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I have some MP3 files on my computer that have not been imported into iTunes and I import them by selecting them and opening them (thereby opening iTunes, copying the files to the Music folder, and adding it to the library), I noticed that the pause button becomes a stop button when it automatically starts playing a track. If I click the stop button, it stops playing the track, and when I click play again, it is not a pause button.

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.
if i started to copy on order of 50,000 files to a directory. It starts processing about 25,000 files and then you decide to cancel the copy and you press the "Stop Copy" X button. Does that action rollback everything to just before you began the copy?

I know that I have to eject the ext. hard drive using proper commands, but what happens whenever I reinstall the ext. hard drive? Does Time Machine start over from the beginning or just update for changes since my last backup via Time Machine?
When I go on trips, I store ext hard drive in a safe and this is why I am asking.
I turn off Imac, using apple menu. Sometimes the power button will work to turn it on, other times it won't. Been to 2 authorized dealers, they can't find problem. Sometimes jiggling or shaking computer will allow me to start using power button. Sometimes I open up case, plug and unplug everything, and then power button will work. Never know when it will work or not. Power button has had continuity check. It checks fine. Power plug is fine, outlet is fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had issues with this before but now I can't seem to get the scroll button to work for any longer than 10 minutes or so. I have used clean cloth or mousepad to work button so that it works and used spray can air to clean out still...only works for a short time before it stops scrolling up or down. If anyone else has had this issue and solved it, can you let me know how to fix mine? I am feeling like this thing is a piece of junk right now.

When I am in Mac's "Pages" or messaging in "Mail", the keyboard "END" button doesn't do anything. When I isited the Apple store, theirs didn't seem to work either, except when using Microsoft Word for Mac. Ironic, huh? Does anyone know anything about this??

So now when i turn on my macbook it loads windows xp from the start and the right click button and the eject button on the keyboard dont work. So now i am trying to reinstall mac os x and i cant find my os x disc, so i have leopard on a flash drive and i cant install it, and i have mac os 8 so i was going to try and install that and then open my flash drive and install leopard, but it wont boot, I help every button on start up and nothing works.

I would like to install a game for windows on my recently new iMac. And I know how to boot windows and everything from experience with my macbook, but my problem is basically this; When I try to install multi-disc games on the windows OS, whenever I get to the point where I am supposed to "insert disc 2" the eject button on my keyboard will not work, is there any workaround for this, I am running XP... I have problem with USB ports on my new 13" MacBook Pro. Right USB connector now stop work.When I connect mouse to right USB connector - nothing happend, USB don't work. On the lest USB connector mouse work fine.When I connect not powered HD to left connector - LED od HD light but not visible on MAC. When I connect HD via power USB HUB to left USB connector it works. Right connector looks dead.In the System profiler I don't see IR Receiver which is connected to right USB HUB.Do you think that is HW or SW problem?
