So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good quality one, perhaps one that simply clips on to the screen, or plugs into a USB slot on the screen, so I can talk to my Mac?

Then they stop working perfectly;Â they get erratic or they selectively stop working at all.Â
However, the same commands, when spoken in Dictation mode, are recorded flawlessly.Â
Am I violating some rule, or does Speech Recognition just get tired from command repetitions ?

It is doing the same thing - if I inadvertantly hit a key on the number keypad it freezes and I have to reboot the computer for anythink to work.What's happening and what can I do?

I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8 and Safari has started running really slowly, all of a sudden. I've tried Firefox and Google Chrome, which run faster, but not much. Wi-Fi has been checked and is not the problem. I've emptied my cache and reset Safari. My disc usage is 15%, my system memory says that I have 2.35 GB of free space, and there are no "page outs". All of the programs, on my computer, that do not require internet access run fine. My firewall is off.

When I open Safari 5.1.5 it opens the last page I was in previously, not my designated homepage, which I would prefer. I looked in Preferences to change it, but to no avail. Upgraded to Lion yesterday.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to this website and I'm by all means not a computer genius so please bear with me and I've been having some issues that I'm curious about and am hoping that I can get some answers hear. I bought a white Macbook about 9 months ago (switched from a PC) and I make great use of the two finger scrolling feature. I tend to put one finger on the bottom of the trackpad (just above the button) and scroll with another. Sometimes while I'm scrolling through a website, the page "jumps" as if I did a quick motion or hit the space bar to move the page down and I then have to search back through the page I was on to where I was reading, etc. I'm curious if my trackpad has issues (everything else is fine and it only "jumps" occasionally) and needs repair or replacement. If not, is there any way to prevent this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith Lion, my Safari pages suddenly double in size with a slight movement of my mouse. Also, with Lion, when I leave my iMac for some period of time, the pages freezes and the cursor point pixilates when I move the mouse. I have to turn off the computer and put in my password to restore functions.

I’ll try to be as specific as I can. I’m running Safari 5.1.7Â
From time to time, Safari seems to encounter a problem with opening https (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure). Either the page won’t open or the page will take deveral minutes to load (like four minutes to load Twitter home page).Â
When it happens, it seems to cause Safari the misbehave with any other page: Safari becomes in effect broken. Meanwhile, pages load normally in Chrome or Firefox. Â
Sometimes, restarting the computer will fix the problem (for a while), but sometime it doesn’t. I’ve also tried to empty Safari’s cache and flush its DNS. It doesn’t always work. I coming here because I restarted by computer half an hour ago and pages are still loading in Safari.Â
Other valuable information:Â
1) The problem with https existed prior to me upgrading to 5.1.7
2) I can be using Safari for days before I encounter the problem
3) I usually work with thre or four windows open, each loaded with about ten tabs.Â

I have a page "Welcome" next to other pages ("About Me"...).
Since yesterday when I open iWeb and click on the "Welcome" name to select the page (to modify or just look at it), iWeb immediatelly quits. The same happens when I follow a link to "Welcome" from another page.
I can access all other pages with no problems.
I tried deleting iWeb's preferences file, restoring an older copy of my domain.site2 file, overwriting iWeb with another copy of iWeb (same version), nothing changed.
This concerns iWeb 3.0 (build 301) on Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Darwin 10.2).
I have set a keyboard shortcut cmd opt ctrl + S to start speaking highlighted text which works fine, however I have set numerous keyboard shortcuts but nothing I do can stop the text speaking, even quitting the application or relaunching the finder. In the end I have to log out to stop it speaking.

And equally sadly, just as I've rid myself my the last of my utterly crud Airs I find that I'm going to have to lug the MBP around much more often that I thought - which means that if at all possible, I will need something considerably more portable. So it was with a sense of resignation that I found myself hovering over the 'buy' button on a 1.8/SSD Gen 2. But then I thought "**** it, I've got far better machines than anything Apple can crank out, why can't I hackintosh these instead?" - namely my Sony Z's, forthcoming TT's, existing TZ's and SZ's as well as the Voodoo Envy133 that I finally caved on and ordered. And I'd love to hear of anyone installing a rock solid Hackintosh install with no functional issues on any of those machines - because from what I've read, there seem to be problems.

I have several text files that I would like to have Text to Speech read for me. However the software does not pause at natural breaks like normal speech. For instance after commas, periods, end of paragraphs, etc. Are there control codes that I can put in my text files to cause the software to pause? I can edit my files accordingly but I can't seem to locate control codes.
