I am having a play with this speech application it doesn't seem to recognise my commands despite them being in the speakable items list, it sometimes picks up random ones but it isn't very reliable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a good microphone to use the speech settings in Mac OSX, I'm not sure if the Mac Pro comes with one built in or not, but either way, it can't hear me. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good quality one, perhaps one that simply clips on to the screen, or plugs into a USB slot on the screen, so I can talk to my Mac?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a handful of Speech Commands, and they work perfectly for four or five times.
Then they stop working perfectly; they get erratic or they selectively stop working at all.
However, the same commands, when spoken in Dictation mode, are recorded flawlessly.
Am I violating some rule, or does Speech Recognition just get tired from command repetitions ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis proves much harder than I had anticipated. I spent the entire weekend and monday trying to get it to work on my own but now I have to surrender. I have about 20GB of music on my windows 7 box, which I would like to have shared to my new Mac Mini without having them being copied. I turned on File Sharing on my Windows Machine, and use SMB on the Mac to get to the mp3 files, then I can drag the files into Itunes on Mac.
This works okay but I don't know what the limitation is, Itunes freezes when either the library gets too big, or when a single mp3 file exceeds a certain size; I am suspecting it is the stability of the samba protocol. I also tried the Home Sharing feature within Itunes between the PC and Mac, but then I can't seem to be able to sync to Iphone/Ipod from the mac. It has been an extremely frustrating first time experience with a Mac. Please give me some tips on how I can share my music between a PC and a Mac.
I was wondering if anyone knew where to download (or if you can dl) more voices for the text to speech. I love them!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to convert a text file to an audio file by using 'text to speech'. Originally, the text was created in Pages but just in case I also saved it as an rtf file. I want to save it as an mp3. Also, once I've got the workflow, I would like to use this again with other text files. I know I can save the workflow and I can do the task by Automator, but I must be doing something wrong. Should I use the 'record' function? What am I doing wrong? I called AppleCare but of course, after 15 minutes they recommended their online discussions. They don't know anything about these basics. The guy asked me, what I tried. I told him that I tried Terminal, but I was confident that Automator and creating a workflow would be the solution for me. He didn't even know where Automator was. I suppose, this was the last time that I purchased an AppleCare.

Whenever I open up iTunes on Vista x86 it appears empty with all my playlist, videos etc. gone. The folder that iTunes gets my music from hasn't changed. When I open iTunes the iTunes Library Extras and iTunes Library Genius are always sent to the recycle bin and there is nothing I can do to stop that from happening. When I check my music folder new versions of those files are there. I am really scared that I won't be able to get my music back as I have a lot.

I've tried removing them and then opening up the finder window to applications and dragging them back onto the dock, however, it still does not work.
I can't import my photos from my iPhone using iPhoto. I used to plug in my iPhone and iPhoto would open up automatically and ask me if I wanted to import my photos, but now it won't do that anymore. So, I open it manually and sometimes my iPhone shows up in the program, but now it doesn't even show up anymore. It showed up yesterday but it said I had no photos on my iPhone, (which is wrong being I have over 300 ready to import).
I tried updating iPhoto but the only update is for iLife 09 and I don't have the money for it, (nor the want). I also looked in iPhoto's preferences and there wasn't anything relating to importing from devices.
My iPhone is recognized by iTunes, and I am able to Sync it, but iPhoto won't even acknowledge it currently.
Right now, I'm going to update my iPhone 3G to the current update and see if that helps iPhoto recognize it.
Does anyone use the Speech Recognition features built into OS X?
I have several text files that I would like to have Text to Speech read for me. However the software does not pause at natural breaks like normal speech. For instance after commas, periods, end of paragraphs, etc. Are there control codes that I can put in my text files to cause the software to pause? I can edit my files accordingly but I can't seem to locate control codes.

He showed that you could highlight text on a page, right-click on it and select to add the text to Mail as a note or send it to iTunes as speech. I don't see either of these options. There are hours and hours of talks and I'm looking for software that will help make my job easier. OS X comes with some very good text to speech capabilities. Is there any capability to do speech to text on OS X? It would be great if there were free/cheap shareware products that do this task.
