Mac :: Practically Speaking, How Much Less Of A Train Wreck Is The New MBA?

Nov 6, 2008

just after I thought I'd got rid of all of my Apple notebooks I had to get a new Macbook Pro. And equally sadly, just as I've rid myself my the last of my utterly crud Airs I find that I'm going to have to lug the MBP around much more often that I thought - which means that if at all possible, I will need something considerably more portable. So it was with a sense of resignation that I found myself hovering over the 'buy' button on a 1.8/SSD Gen 2. But then I thought "**** it, I've got far better machines than anything Apple can crank out, why can't I hackintosh these instead?" - namely my Sony Z's, forthcoming TT's, existing TZ's and SZ's as well as the Voodoo Envy133 that I finally caved on and ordered. And I'd love to hear of anyone installing a rock solid Hackintosh install with no functional issues on any of those machines - because from what I've read, there seem to be problems.

MacBook Air :: Can Practically Use The 11.6 Or Should Just Get The Larger

Oct 29, 2010

I recently sold my desktop PC so that I can be more mobile. I'm trying to decide between the 13" MBP refurbished from apple ($1019) or the Macbook Air 11.6 ($1000). I have an iPad and an iPhone and love the portability iOS has. I would like to have a laptop for typing longer emails, surfing the web, syncronizing itunes content, and converting movies in handbrake for my apple tv. I realize the airs 1.4 core 2 will take considerably longer for handbrake conversions than the 2.4Ghz MBP. I am considering using the macbook air as my only computer for a year or so when I will then get a desktop system.

Can I practically use the 11.6, or should I just get the larger, bulkier MBP?

PowerPC :: Screen Bleeding-will It Wreck Computer

Mar 15, 2010

I cracked my laptop screen and along some of the crack lines there is a blue, magic marker looking bleeding going on. It has been getting progressively worse. The menu bar on top is fully covered in blue. The blue coloring migrates. My question is, will this destroy the inners of the computer in any way? I am trying to wait for the updated MacBook Pros, but don't want to wait if I am risking frying all my info. I can still use the computer, I just have to move screens around so I can read around the blue blood.
