View 2 RepliesI have a Mac Pro which I just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I have an HP Multi-Function 2840 hooked up to the router via ethernet. This printer previously worked through Leopard.
Now, my understanding is that for SL, the drivers for this printer are in the operating system and can not be downloaded from HP.
How do I set this up as a network printer? I would like to be able to print from my other computers in the house as well.
Please Note: Snow Leopard only provides drivers for the printing function of this machine. I am going to have to revert to other means to use this device to scan.
I need help setting up network printing. I have a new router N600. I can not see the printer.

I'm in the market for another wireless router. Does anyone know i would be able to set up the "quality of service" for both the Extreme or Express base stations?
View 1 Replies View Relatedthis may be sort of a noob question but I was hoping someone could help me out. I have an HP photosmart 8050 printer hooked up to my iMac via USB. The thing is my girlfriend uses my other 2 dell laptops mainly for school while I use my iMac for school. All of these computers are on the same network and are scattered around my house.
So being in school we need to print out a lot of documentation and wanted to just have the printer setup wirelessly. I have a modem w/ the wired/wireless router, and all my computers have internal wireless cards.
I purchased an Epson CX8300 recently to work with my iMac and MacBook. It works fine with both via USB connection. However, when set to print wirelessly via an Airport Extreme Base Station, the print jobs don't ever appear in the print queues on either systems. I tried switching to the Gutenprint driver but this just spits out one blank page after another.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBrand new HP Photosmart C4480 from Apple Store (connected via USB to AEBS)...
Prints fine from both MBP (unibody) and Vista lappy...but only in COLOR!
Why on earth would this be...could it be something simple as the black ink cartridge straight out of the box has ink problems? I've re-seated the black just to make sure, but seriously prints nothing in black...only color!
I have a Canon MX310 hooked up via a USB hub (shared with a HD) to an gigabit AEBS. Everything works fine under Leopard but no Windows boxes (either bootcamp or otherwise) can see the printer as being online. I have the latest Bonjour and even tried manually installing the printer. I checked the port/IP and everything is as it should be. Airport Utility says that printer is being shared over Bonjour and the Bonjour Print Wizard has no problem finding the printer for me to set up but the printer appears offline and won't print. I have rebooted the AEBS. All boxes are running Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got the new AEBS and I set up a new network connecting my Macbook 2.4 running os 10.5.6. I am trying to share the printer with my pc. All the instructions say its real easy and all I have to do is install Bonjour for Windows located on the Airport Utility CD. I can't find that software anywhere. I installed airport utility on the pc but I can't figure out how to share this printer. Also, there now seems to be a clock counting time next to the airport symbol on the top of my screen. What is that all about?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe're looking to install 3 WAP in our new office. The alternative to a AEBS set up would be Cisco's WAP4410N WAP. It's a smaller office (about 35 people), but we'll be divided amongst three floors, so 3 separate devices. It's a PC server with mostly PC devices connecting to the wireless network. I'd like to have an integrated wireless network, which I know the AEBS can do. I also like the dual-band function of the AEBS, since there are plenty of older machines that are used in the office. But what I really like about it is the Guest feature.
Our clients are usually just allocated to one area (like conference rooms) in the past, but now they are somewhat dispersed through out. Having the Guest network extend everywhere that the Company network is would be great, and we wouldn't have to buy secondary WAPs to do this. However, the router/firewall function would have to be turned off on the AEBS so that our main DC was still handing out IPs, and I don't know if this or bridging the three AEBS together would remove the functionality of the Guest feature.
I would like to add a wireless device that uses WEP to my WPA Airport Extreme Base Station network. Is there any way to use an Airport Express and WDS to allow mixed password protocols? Or will the AE only accept WPA like the base station?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to be able to do is plug into the Ethernet ports on this AEBS, and I want that to use wireless to the other wireless router to give me network access. Here is the deal, I have a computer that doesn't have wireless network on it, so it's only Ethernet. I have the AEBS at my desk, and I want to connect the hardwired computer into the AEBS. I want the AEBS to then wirelessly connect that computer that is hard-wired to the network...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been given an iMac g3 with osx 10.4.11 installed and airport card. My son will have this as his first computer. It is up and running and surfing the net using the airport connected to our home network. I have searched the forums and tried all the results I could find but am still unable to print from the iMac to my network printer.
iMac G3 10.4.11 osx slot loaded, airport wireless. Officejet all in one 6310 usb to pc running Vista. I have tried all the usual SAMBA and LPD methods listed going for generic printer, but get error 256 using printer utility, and NT_status_no_memory when using samba with all the settings, when trying LPD the printer service just stops.
I use LPD://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename and same for smb. I have set up a seperate account for the mac on the vista pc with password and started lpd service I've also edited the registry for lmcompatibility, printer sharing is enabled and both machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).
I'm sure there is a few people on here that have made the swap - is it worth it? Is the difference in speed noticible to warrant an upgrade.
My current setup:
2.4 MBPu
Mac Mini (coming soon)
Dell Inspiron
Canon Printer
Touch
Slingbox (hardwired to AEBS)
AE (old school version)
WD 1TB external (connected to AEBS via usb)
All currently connected to a AEBS wireless.

I'm a bit new to the whole Mac scene. I'm trying to figure out how to set up a network for my office, and I have a few questions.
1. Can I have my modem plug into a Time Capsule and use that as a router, or do I need an airport? This relates to question 2.
2. I want to have a server to store all of my data. 1TB will be plenty. Do I need to buy an XServe, or can I just buy a 1TB Time Capsule?
Basically, I want to know if I can use a Time Capsule as both a router and a server. I will have 6 computers in my office using this wireless internet. Would I be better off buying an Airport Extreme and an Xserve? What does an Xserve offer that a Time Capsule does not?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I got a new Macbook about 3 months, and I've been sitting on a couch in the same room with the wireless router. However I'm getting a bit sick of having to use a couch as my desk and I want to get internet in my room.
Our house, is reasonbly new, and I know that all the phone wires are cat5 (I'm 100% sure), so I was thinking of setting up a wired network.
Since our house is made up of concrete and steel beams, the wireless signal isn't that great in our house. We have a D-Link G604T which is a piece of junk so I will get a new router in the near future.
So currently, we have some sort of filter in the room where the router is, so we can plug in the router without having to worry about putting filters on all of our telephone lines.
However, if I were to put internet in through the same line, I'm guessing I would have to get some filters.
Hopefully what I want to do is get a phone jack to Ethernet converter and put internet directly into the wall and hopefully I will get internet in all of the phone jacks. I could probably take the cable out and put a Ethernet end straight on the cable.
I was also thinking If I get a airport extreme of some other gigabit router, I would technically get less latency and would retain my internet speeds even though I would getting internet through a long line of cables.
How do I set up an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus Wi-fi printer on my macbook air? I went to settings, then print and scan, and found my printer. Clicked on it to set it up and it's been configuring for over 20 minutes with no end in sight.

We just upgraded from 10.4.11 and noticed that Printer Specific setting (like line screen, scaling, wrong reading, etc) are not getting passed to our image setter. The image setter is AGFA Avantra running on a Tiapan RIP running on an NT4 server. The PPDs are generated using the RIP's EDF software. The most up to date PPD code is Laserwriter 8.7.
We had no problem in OS 10.4.11
I've come home from college for the summer and set up my PC and iMac in my bedroom. However, the wireless signal from the router in the basement (a cisco m10 wireless n router) is very weak and cuts out frequently. I have an Airport Express and was hoping to use it as a wireless repeater/range extender, but can't seem to figure it out. I know there is no "official support" for use as a repeater with non-Apple routers, but is there a way around this? If so, how can I set up my network?
