View 2 RepliesI bought an album off iTunes a while ago but didn't download it immediately because of capping my internet data allowance and etc., - the net was slowed down to 64 kbps. Anyway, at the beginning of the month when I came back to download the album again it wasn't in the pending download section. I'm not sure where to find it or where to get the songs.

Just wondering if I'm missing the place where iPhoto is actually giving a status of a "pending" item as far as if it's processing it somehow or, uploading it or what...
I've got a few vids that I shot while on my honeymoon in a gallery of pics in iPhoto and they seem to be taking FOREVER to upload to my mobileme galleries.
did anyone else notice that if you boot the SL disc from the DVD and go into disk utility, there is an option to Erase and Zero out sectors?
I'm just wondering if this solves the performance degradation issue of SSD's over time. Has anyone tried it and benchmarked the results before/after?
In theory it seems like it would work (albeit at the penalty of losing all data on the SSD).
Is there a way to check my hard disk for bad sectors? I dropped my MacBook off a 2nd floor balcony onto grass and I don't want to get a nasty surprise sometime in the future when it tries to write to a bad sector.
Please don't say fsck because there's nothing wrong with the file system because I dropped it when it was off.
I use Paragon NTFS to access a firewire/USB2 1TB drive. I recently noticed that some files on it, videos', won't copy to another drive. Using ViSTA and Firewire(Boot Camped) the Vista OS says the disk is unreadable, but the Mac OSX(10.5) just hangs after so many seconds. I've identified 9 large video files I really want back, what do you guys suggest for file recovery? I have Vista Ultimate 64bit and OSX 10.5

does fsck or fsck_hfs scan a hard drive for physical errors also or is it only for the file system layer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to upgrade one of the two 500GB HDD I currently have in my MBP 5,3 with a 1TB one. Given that I had good experience with WD, I am looking at their offerings. While their standard WD10TEVT is hardly available around here and if it's much more expensive (for what ever reason), I am interested in the WD10TPVT. Now that HDD has the new Advanced Formatting with 4k sectors which seems to be only a problem for WinXP. But could any Mac user share its experience with that HDD? Is it gonna work the same with Time Machine, backups, file transfer between disks or can issues occur when files are exchanged/transferred between disks with different sector sizes? Only want to upgrade one of my HDDs for now, so is there any preferable setup (in terms of which HDD to have the OS and which the files)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my MBP internal hard drive to a Samsung 1TB and it crashed for the 2nd time (will never buy another Samsung). So this time, I purchased a WD and migrated my system to the new drive sucessfully. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if the migrate function simply copies files or if it copys sectors of the hard drive. Basically I just want to know if Mac Migrate will copy the crap from the Samsung drive that might cause my new WD to act up - or if that's possible?

I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....

for a while now I've had a problem that is driving me up the wall. I cannot remove an icon from my dock (as in dragging it off or right click, and hitting "Remove from Dock") without the Dock locking up for a second, crashing, and restarting.
On restart, the icon I wanted to remove is still there.

I tried going into ~/Library/Prefernces and deleting com.apple.plist and the other db plist file but besides resetting my dock preferences, the problem persists. Do you think it could be an issue with Dock.app itself (on my system)?

I have a CD in my iMac that won't come out. Evidently the drive is broken. I tried all of the tricks, I think. I no longer have a warranty on it. It seems that others have had the same problem concerning the Pioneer DVD RW, DVR - K06. Can I somehow pull the cd out? I don't want to hurt the computer but the drive is history. Other than taking it apart or getting it fixed, do I have any other option?

Is there a way to remove an app from the App store? I have one the company accepted my iTunes receipt to transfer it from the App store to their Web site because they offer more with their Website version the App store can't offer (enhancements and subscription).
