I've set up a new iMac and it asks me for my password every time I turn it on. I've looked in all the places I can think of to bypass it and all I've succeeded in doing is that it now asks for both my name and my password. How to fix it?
View 4 RepliesI had to reinstall my software on the mini now I put the re install software that it came with and I filled all the forms out including my password which never changes in all my mac's then I went and upgraded by the disc to OSX 10.5 Leopard. All ok I used the time machine from the Power PC G5 which I am writing this on now by the way too put all my programs and itunes on.
All seamed ok but it said on the start up screen Power Pc G5. And when I went to put in my password it went and done the side too side wobble no I know my password and it never changes and I tried caps lock on and off but no go I never use caps lock anyway but I thought perhaps that was the problem. So I cannot get in to the computer now. Is there a way to reset the password.
Hi! Im new to the forums but i really need help with something and i was hoping someone here could help me out. So I just installed Tech Tool Deluxe onto my macbook and then shut it down later. I went back to use it again and when i turned it on a login screen appeared asking me to put in my password. I did that and the screen turned blue (looking like it was loading) and then went back to the login screen. Every time i put in my password it just takes me back to the login screen. I have had my mac for a while and i dont want my hardrive to get wiped out so what do i do? Thank you for looking

I am able to login to everything and set my username as the administrator, but I can not set a password for it, if i try to input a password or change the password I get an error message saying I have input an incorrect password. When I purchased the computer everything was blank except for the user name was set as mac user, as I said I was able to change the username but not the password.

It comes up and asks me for the password which is then rejected.Beyond reloading the OS not sure what options are. Did a permissions repair but no other luck.

Unable to remove login items (Revert after reboot) iOX10.5 iMac
I am having issues and permanent encounter in having my removed login items reappearing after reboot. I have very MANY of the same programs in 'open at Login accounts' eg: Messenger,Safari,Skype,Evernote,Dropbox,antivirus, but they are listed dozens of times. in this 'open at login' area.
Here's the steps I have taken:
1) Open Applications, Account Preferences, cluck my administrator acc, select program to delete, click on - and wait.
2) Remove some login items (with or without unlocking the lock, doesn't seem make a difference, tried both)
3) Login items are now fewer
4) Reboot
5) voila, the removed login items are still loaded and displayed in login item tab.

I have a duplicate item, namely Expander Daemon, in Sys Prefs > Accounts > Login Items. The first one heads a list of 7 items in total. It says its Kind is Unknown. The second ED is at the end of the list and its Kind states Application. Is it safe to remove the first ED?

So after a lot of mess I finally put in the install DVD and changed the password. Problem is that now every time I start up the computer I have to log in. When I powered it up, it would go to the grey apple screen, then it would go to a blue screen, then it would switch to a light blue screen, then back to the darker blue screen, etc and never fully boot into OSX. I finally found my install discs for OSX and reinstalled my operating system from scratch, formatted my hard drive, and started new. Once I reinstalled, I realized how outdated and different everything looked... and I realized I was running OSX 10.4. So from there, I found my Leopard disc (10.5), put that in, and "Upgraded" my system to 10.5.
And basically here's where I'm at now:........................

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the login prompt every time I close and open my MacBook Pro screen? I do not mind the initial login screen, when I just turn on my laptop but having to do this every time my computer goes into screensaver mode or I close the screen is annoying, especially in class. View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my macbook, I've been trying to get everything in sync between it and my imac using mobile me. I had a lot of trouble with saved passwords and other things not syncing so I deleted both keychains and started over fresh. Now everytime I log on to either my imac or mac book I'mn asked for a password to access my keychain.
How can I disable this? Have a made a mistake somewhere in all this configuring? I've never really messed with keychain so I really didn't know what I was doing.
