i had parallel on my macmini 80gb 10.54.4 and i have now uninstalled it as i want to go to bootcamp, how do i uninstall or trash the windows xp as i cannot seem to see it under finder?
I used bootcamp, but the windows disk did not work. So now I have this windows partition that I have been trying for 30mins to delete and I cant do it. I been playing with it but I think I just made it worse.
I no longer need Windows and want to reclaim the space and restore my HD back to a single partition, but Boot Camp Assistant won't let me. It says "This disk appears to have been partitioned by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows." and the "Restore disk to a single Mac OS partition option is greyed out? I know I used Boot Camp to created the partition, so why won't it let me remove it?
1) Will it matter if I have a Windows XP Home disc or Professional? 2) How would I go about COMPLETELY removing windows and its whole partition?
I am currently considering installing windows on my MacBook Pro, however I would like to know how to remove it completely, just in case I change my mind.
This is gonna sound silly, but i don't really remember what I did for this to happen..all my windows turn translucent, when another window overlaps it...It suddenly started coming..its annoying me like crazy now
When I use the internet, if i click on anything to type, like the search or a login bar to my uni student account, or to my online banking account, it without fail, redirects me to another window. The other window most commonly is a mac keeper add telling me that I need to clean up my Mac as they are trying to get me to download something. I can exit off this window, and I go back to the other window. The other common one which is extremely frustrating is one saying that something has been detected blah blah blah, but it won't let me exit it from it. This gets annoying especially when I am writing papers for uni, and I have to shut down all my sources just because of one stupid pop up. I have also noticed that Netflix now had a bunch of pop up adds as well. I am very careful with what I put on my computer as I know you can get viruses from internet downloads. It all started when I let my lovely sister use my computer for a bit, but apparently solitare is not a cool enough game for her, so she downloaded that imvu game. After that, that's when I noticed all the pop ups and what not. I deleted it hoping that the ads would go away, but it didn't work. They are still there. How do I fix this because it is SO annoying. (it's a MacBook Air, has the mavericks operating system thing, processor 1.4 Ghz Intel Core i5, OS X version 10.9.6.
so now that i have my dl stack in leopard i dont need the download window to pop up in safari since i can just access the stack. is there a way i can get rid of the downloads window?

If I wanted to reinstall Windows (currently using 32bit, want to upgrade to 64), I assume I would remove the partition, make a new one, and reinstall Windows from there. Now, will the same Product Key work if I did it like this? As far as I know, because the Product Key has already been used it won't let me.
I have to supply a generated set of files a couple of dozen logos as .eps files in a folder containing some other nested folders to a small enterprise that uses PCs for their day to day work.
The people I'm dealing with are not very IT-savvy and if I could, I'd provide a set of these folders and files without the corresponding invisible files that usually have a dot at the beginning of their file-names.
I'll probably zip the whole lot up and email, rapidshare or yousendit it over to them so they can unpack it and get to business without me having to explain what all those files with the dots are, and how to get rid of them.
Since using vlc player i have found no need for wmp so i dropped it into appcleaner and now i can't empty my trash bin i keep getting errors when i click on empty trash.I keep getting messages (see below) how can i get around this can any one help i have tried using the option key when deleting but it hasn't worked tho.
So I'm using bootcamp to load up windows, but now I have run out of room on my Mac partition. I still have 30GB on my windows partition, and I haven't even used it ONCE! Honestly at this point I don't think I will ever need it....
But so my questions is, would there be any way to remove the windows partition completely without damaging my Mac side to allow for more storage? Or maybe just shrink the windows partition so that I can free up an extra 20GB or so?
I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 on my hard drive using Bootcamp. I'd like to know if in the future I decide to remove windows, am I able to remove the partition and revert back to the full hard drive space or not?
I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
I've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....
Is it better for me to buy the upgrade for windows 7, from vista to windows 7 or to buy the full copy? If i buy the fully version, should i get rid of my pardon, and re-do it with bootcamp, or should i just do it over my current pardon? (Vista) I just want the best way, less pain, less anger. Im willing to pay more for full IF IT IS THE BEST way to do it.
so i have a windows XP professional disk, SP2 and all. i am trying to install windows, i get as far as partitioning the disk, but once it says "please insert XP disk" i do that, and it will think for a few minutes, and make a loud noise [coming from the mac] then a message pops up and says 'please insert installation disk.' the disk is brand new, what am i doing wrong? should i be partitioning the windows side larger?
i have my aluminum 2.4GHz 4gb RAM aluminum macbook with the geforce 9400m. and i was wondering. is DirectX 9 better then DirectX 10?. even if the difference is only 8 FPS it still counts.(really the only game im going to play is elder scrolls 4 oblivion)
for a while now I've had a problem that is driving me up the wall. I cannot remove an icon from my dock (as in dragging it off or right click, and hitting "Remove from Dock") without the Dock locking up for a second, crashing, and restarting.
On restart, the icon I wanted to remove is still there.
Here's a video: [URL]
I tried going into ~/Library/Prefernces and deleting com.apple.plist and the other db plist file but besides resetting my dock preferences, the problem persists. Do you think it could be an issue with Dock.app itself (on my system)?
so i downloaded little snitch for the mac and didn't like it so i removed it from the application folder. it is still existent in my tool bar up top and i can't go to preferences in it but it still has pop ups saying what application is trying to do what and it tells me that i need to upgrade it. point being i just want to completely get rid of it. how do i do that?
I am using iBook and iTunes and when a new version of a PDF comes along I import it and remove the old version from both my iPad and computer. I would like to remove the old versions from iTunes but cannot figure out how to do so. All the normal ways do not work - Delete key, Command Delete, etc. Can this be done?
