I used to use Command-shift-4 or Preview/Grab/Selection to capture screenshots, which worked great - capturing as png and saving to the desktop. However, now I just get a black coloured square captured with both methods. Capturing a window is fine, this just happens when it is a selection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen on a Mac in one form or another but never saw this. It's not even mentioned on the apple.com site under startup problems. Started up on my eMac and got this blinking blue dot that looked a bit like earth in a gray square. Whole think was about an 1" square in the middle of the screen. The startup tone was normal.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy two previous older macs have been perfect to me, but this new MBP I5 model is giving so many issues lately. Every once in a while, my computer's graphics (I am assuming) goes crazy, and I get this pixelated distortion that's right in the middle of my screen that's about 2"x5" on my 17" screen. This happened just earlier, while I was using Safari. However, even after closing all of the Safari windows down, the distortion will still be there, and will stay there regardless of what I have or don't have open. Logging in and out will fixes the problem, and everything goes back to normal for the mean time. Any one ever experience similar problems or know what I could do to see what's going or fix it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased my new Macbook Pro 15" 2.4 i5 with the glossy hi-res screen and low and behold I have a pixel that stays red in the middle of my screen!!! So disappointed with Apple So now I have the task of trying to get it replaced, I heard they don't replace them with only 1 dead pixel, but it is in the middle of my screen! I paid over $2000 and I believe that this is truly unacceptable.

In the last week or so, my computer has been randomly acting up:It has restarted over a dozen times when I pressed the "esc" button to exit from full-screen viewing while I watch video. It has gone to the sign in [initial purpley wave] screen when I was in the middle of simply typing a document. It has rebooted on it's own when I tried to use any application I use regularly- such as Photobooth, etc.And just now, I had to manually press the on-off button to get the computer started because my mouse was frozen. Sounds like there is a ghost in the ol' machine.

Is there a way to enable a middle click on a trackpad?
ie, similar to using middle click on a mouse to open new tabs while browsing.
After my great experience the last day with my two days old MBA 1.8Ghz/SSD I stopped smiling after I discover a stucked RED pixel in the middle of the screen. Normally I'm not such a whiner, but $3000 is a lot of money for a laptop, and I think you should expect a 100% flawless product for this huge amount of money. What to do? I tried the online video fixer for more then 10 minutes... didn't work. Should I give it a try at Apple? Or is it a no go? The problem is, I bought it at an Apple reseller who had this MBA as showroom demo for a month. So even though for me the product is only 2 days old, i think for Apple it is one month old and that would imply that I lost all my warranty and refund rights already. What to do?

I have a mac mini intel and I was in the middle of working with my blogs, then there was an annoying spinning wheel of death, so normally, I would hold the power button for few button to restart and I did. then when the desktop was loading, everything was back to the "new" desktop with alot of stuffs missing, so I restarted it again using the apple menu, then the startup screen took so long and out of nowhere, it shutted down by itself. I tried to power it on again and again, unplugged the cords, still didn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI left Time Machine on to run last night while I was sleeping. I woke up to 12 new "2009-10-31" backup folders. It seems to be backing up a small 105kb file every hour. Obviously there is nothing else to backup because the system is idle, I'm not making any changes to files. I'm not sure I noticed this happen in Leopard. Any idea on what that small file is that it keeps backing up?
