however, installation doesn't work because i dont have the actual "disk" in my mbp when i try to install (i'm simply running the application install off the mounted image). is there any way i can take the cdr and turn it into a mountable volume that shows up as a CD and not just any old volume?
View 1 RepliesI do have a copy of the the Mac Mini SL Client software but I don't have another Mac to create the USB restore disc in order to load the client on the Mini Server via usb drive. I don't intend to use the Server Software and don't want to 'activate' the license so I can resell it instead. Can I just use the Server to create the bootable restore disc without 'activating' the Server License and locking it to my serial number? Or is there another way to create the restore disc if you don't have access to another Mac to run disc utility?
i'm going to be picking up a Mac Mini in a couple days and wanted to know if starcraft 2 would run on it. i did a lot of searching it seems that all the posts were from 2011 and 2010 and a lot of them were running SC2 in Windows on the mac mini. i want to run the Mac Mini in OSX and i heard it doesn't run quite as well as it does in Windows and blizzard aren't great with fixing bugs in the Mac version. i'll be buying the current low end mac mini, i can get more RAM on it and i believe the CPU is more than enough, but the graphics card does worry me. i don't want to play on high settings, i just want to get great performance even if it runs on the lowest detail settings.

anyone has any idea how StarCraft 2, released in a few days, will run on a MacBook Pro with a 9600M GT. I understand this game is largely CPU intensive so I am hoping that for once it will run as well as you'd expect on a less-than-2 year old laptop.
I have seen some footage of the beta running on a MBP 9600M GT, and very nicely at that, so that leaves 2 questions (they may be very difficult to answer):
1) Are we expecting the game to run a lot slower on OS X than XP as games usually do (including WoW)
2) Are we expecting performance to be significantly better in the final over the beta
I haven't been able to mount .dmg files for a few weeks now. Cleared my cache and tried again. No go. Followed some advice to move my com.apple.kernelcaches file and my Extensions.kextcache to my desktop...still no go. Warning reason reads "no mountable file systems".

I have Macbook with GMA 950. I have Starcraft 2 beta (don't ask me to give you the beta ID and Password), and I have been playing around with it on Windows Bootcamp. It fairly works well in lowest settings besides some lagging with 6 fps when there is a big battle. For a while now I've been really frustrated by the fact that my BootCamp drive seems to have disappeared from the desktop, and is not mountable from within Disk Utility. I am running a fresh install of OSX Snow Leopard, as well as a new BootCamp install with Windows 7.

Yesterday I inserted a movie DVD into the internal drive of my MacPro 3,1 and received the error message, "The disc you inserted is not readable by this computer". I tried several different movie discs, some old, some new releases I just purchased and I get the same message. Data discs work fine but not movie DVDs.
I also noticed that my Mac can no longer mount an ISO or DMG file. I get an error saying "No Mountable filesystems". I have repaired permissions, restarted, disconnected all external peripherals, etc. Pretty much all the basic stuff you try when your Mac isn't behaving as you'd expect. The odd thing is that it just started behaving this way within the last two days. DVDs played fine before and I could mount any ISO or DMG file. Only thing that is different is I ran the most recent security update from Apple when it popped up.

these are the games i plan on playing when i purchase my new macbook i5 15inch. i know the processor difference between the i5 and i7 is barely noticeable especially for someone like me who doesnt do all that high-end rendering stuff. the only thing thats freaking me out is the difference in quality between these games with the nvidia 330m 256 mb vs 512 mb. some have said it'll make no difference as most games these days just use the speed of the card and not the space, and that the 330m is not even fast enough to take advantage of the 512mb....what would the quality difference be between the two for these games? i plan on getting the high-res screen, does that change anything?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDid a fresh Bootcamp install of Windows 7 on my MBA running 10.9.4, switched back and forth a few times and now the BOOTCAMP partition doesn't show up in the left pane in Finder. I hopped into Disk Utility to see what was going on and it was there, just not mounted, so I clicked mount, was told it couldn't be mounted, and it suggested I run first aid on it. I clicked Verify, nothing useful to me, then Repair, and got quite a lot of feedback that I do not understand, and then after that it was still unmountable.
I tried to copy everything it said into a pastebin because it was very long with lots of starting and stopping and counting percents inbetween, but it was over 500kb and that's the limit for free users on pastebin, so here's a trimmed version. [URL] .... I tried booting into Windows after that, and it jumped into System Repair. Apparently, according to Windows, my Boot Manager is missing or corrupt... and since I still can't access it from the Mac side of things, I thought I'd just wipe the partition in BootCamp Utility and start over.
Except instead, I get this error: "Your disk could not be restored to a single partition.An error occurred while restoring the disk to a single partition."
Disk Utility let me wipe it but I still can't mount it, either, again suggesting I run first aid on it (this does nothing). I can't boot into the Mac's Recovery mode either. It just jumps straight to Internet Recovery. When I hold option upon boot, all three partitions show up (Mac, Recovery, Windows), but when I click the recovery one it loads for a bit and then the laptop just instantly shuts off.... Have I corrupted my internal harddrive perchance?
