View 15 RepliesGames are more GPU hungry, so can we expect to play Starcraft 2 nicely on the new MBA 13' ?
I saw some videos on youtube showing a MBP 13' playing SC2 nicely. But keep in mind the screen is 1440x900 and the processor is 1.86Ghz, so how worse would that be?
Yes, and as you can see in my signature, I have the previous model which I have bought less than 25 days ago. I will go to Apple store this friday (Japan, and these people should be nice) and try to convince them that they shouldn't have given me the inferior ones.
Back to the point, will Starcraft 2 work well with nVidia 320m? Apple's website says there will be a 80% boost, but what about Starcraft 2?
Anyone knows where to buy a keyboard skin for the new 11" MacBook Air?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI just (finally) ordered Starcraft II and was wondering what the latest word was on its playability under 10.6.5 on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.66 i7 with the 330M. I would like to play it on the built-in hi-res 1680 x 1050 screen or on an external 1920 x 1200 monitor. Is there a big difference between gaming on OSX 10.6.5 vs. Windows 7 x64 bootcamp? I read that 10.6.4 was horrible performance wise, but I haven't heard much regarding 10.6.5 and Starcraft II.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes the new macbook pro perform much better with Starcraft 2? Right now I'm using the old macbook (unibody still) that has the 9400M. How much of an improvement is it to get the new macbook pros with the 320M?
View 6 Replies View Relatednefew wants something lite for college, that can play starcraft II......
can it be played on a 11" mba?
if so, what model config do you use?...and what setting can be set in game...also does mba run hot and would fan run non stop...
anyone has any idea how StarCraft 2, released in a few days, will run on a MacBook Pro with a 9600M GT. I understand this game is largely CPU intensive so I am hoping that for once it will run as well as you'd expect on a less-than-2 year old laptop.
I have seen some footage of the beta running on a MBP 9600M GT, and very nicely at that, so that leaves 2 questions (they may be very difficult to answer):
1) Are we expecting the game to run a lot slower on OS X than XP as games usually do (including WoW)
2) Are we expecting performance to be significantly better in the final over the beta
I have Macbook with GMA 950. I have Starcraft 2 beta (don't ask me to give you the beta ID and Password), and I have been playing around with it on Windows Bootcamp. It fairly works well in lowest settings besides some lagging with 6 fps when there is a big battle. I am planning to get new Macbook Pro today, and do you think Medium settings will work on the nVidia 9400?
View 14 Replies View Relatedi have a question the new macbook pro can handle starcraft 2 in high settings? with the new video card 1gb?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLuckily, I have a lowest end MBP 13" with upgraded HDD, which most of us have. If you have a better MBP (15" and 17"), you won't have to worry about it.I'll post some pictures with built in FPS.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthese are the games i plan on playing when i purchase my new macbook i5 15inch. i know the processor difference between the i5 and i7 is barely noticeable especially for someone like me who doesnt do all that high-end rendering stuff. the only thing thats freaking me out is the difference in quality between these games with the nvidia 330m 256 mb vs 512 mb. some have said it'll make no difference as most games these days just use the speed of the card and not the space, and that the 330m is not even fast enough to take advantage of the 512mb....what would the quality difference be between the two for these games? i plan on getting the high-res screen, does that change anything?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm going to be picking up a Mac Mini in a couple days and wanted to know if starcraft 2 would run on it. i did a lot of searching it seems that all the posts were from 2011 and 2010 and a lot of them were running SC2 in Windows on the mac mini. i want to run the Mac Mini in OSX and i heard it doesn't run quite as well as it does in Windows and blizzard aren't great with fixing bugs in the Mac version. i'll be buying the current low end mac mini, i can get more RAM on it and i believe the CPU is more than enough, but the graphics card does worry me. i don't want to play on high settings, i just want to get great performance even if it runs on the lowest detail settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow does StarCraft 2 perform on the current lineup of the iMac? I'm most interested in the 21.5" model, as I cannot afford the 27" version. Specifically, I'd like to know what resolution and settings the 4670 and 5670 models can handle...
View 10 Replies View Relatedhowever, installation doesn't work because i dont have the actual "disk" in my mbp when i try to install (i'm simply running the application install off the mounted image). is there any way i can take the cdr and turn it into a mountable volume that shows up as a CD and not just any old volume?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found a ibook g4 I am considering buying. It is a 1.07 mhz 768mb 80gb superdrive. I am getting it for a good deal and it has all the software I will need for school Microsoft office photoshop. I was just wondering what are the capabilities of this machine. Could I play warcraft 3 and starcraft on this and do normal everyday tasks with ease. Or are the stats not good enough to do much of anything

My laptop is about 3 years old and I hardly use the disk drive. All of a sudden it will not play a CD of copied photo's and when I put in another burned CD it says that it is blank. I have thried two normal (non burned DVD's and it keeps popping up saying that I have to change the region...which I haven't seen before!

I purchased the original macbook air. The fan would kick on at full blast within minutes and it would get very hot. I sold it and got a MBP. Needless to say, the MBP handles videos without any issues.
How would the newer rev C MBA play videos? n I typically watch youtube vids and movies on the plane.
I'm looking to purchase the 1.86 GHz model. Just looking for something a little more travel friendly.
I'm getting a loud noise which sounds like it's coming from possibly the fan when I try to play a disc from my CSI season. The dvd does play with picture and sound and everything fine but the noise persists until i eject the dvd. It is a loud vibrating sound which starts shortly after i insert the disc. It simply sounds like the fan is hitting something inside the laptop but it stops the instant that i eject it.
my mac is playing up. The fan is constantly going even if the mac is not being used. Also my battery signal on the desktop has a cross through it, and does not indicate if it is charging when I plug the charger in. How do I fix this?

I set the preferences to where the CD would automatically play when inserted but it still doesn't even show up on the desktop. Also I checked to see if it was a problem with the CD but it worked on other Macs. my version of iTunes is 12.0.1.
Info:
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
Does anyone know if there would be an issue if I play a DVD on an upside down MacBook? I plan to mount the MacBook upside down under the kitchen cabinet to watch videos while doing kitchen work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to play sound from by iBook (from iTunes) through my parents' TV (through the DVD player hooked up to it, which has the red, white and yellow RCA outlets).
I have read that you can use a 3.5mm jack to 3 RCA cable to watch video, but will the same work for just audio?
Or
Do I just plug a 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA cable (red and white) into the the red and white outlets?
So confused and grateful for any help.
I would prefer to avoid using Apple accessories if prrible just to avoid the cost.
I just got my new air and absolutely love it. I had seen pretty impressive graphics performance. What I didn't expect was the fan noise. I knew it was loud, but this thing sounds like the old G5's! It makes me kind of scared to play games to be honest. Are they going to substantially decrease the life of my machine? Do you think a laptop cooler would really help with this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not a big gamer, just a couple hours a week, perhaps. This particular problem occurs while playing Left 4 Dead 2 and Half Life 2. Basically, the computer just goes to sleep while playing the game. It doesn't seem to hurt anything. Hitting they keys a few times brings the computer back and the game back into play without a hitch. Except the audio sometimes needs to catch up. But it sure is annoying. I haven't actually timed it. But it doesn't seem entirely random. It seems to be at somewhat predictable intervals. Maybe 15-25 minutes. I looked all through my settings (especially Energy Saver), and keyboard shortcuts and it doesn't seem that any of them would cause the computer to sleep. The computer is plugged into the wall.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRuns well under bootcamp in my 1.8/SSD. I would even say it runs at 60fps But you need to download the beta X3100 drivers from intel that solve the crashing problem when you play the game with the normal drivers. And download the game from direct2drive or EA so you wont need the DVD Why does Mac OS suck so much ass when you play games? Under bootcamp I can run anything and the games wont run slow.
View 4 Replies View Relatedthis rev B i got is much better than the rev A i used to owned. the youtube and movie lagging is gone. but it's still not powerful enough for a game. i played eschalon book:1 which is not quite heavy and demanding like the new games out there. let alone playing half life 2. it's overheating and locking down the cpu to 800mhz just like my old air. see the screenshot. after playing for 20 minutes, it's becoming very laggy and unplayable. i guess this thin mba is not ok unless playing simple games like gamehouse's card and board games.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought my computer 3 weeks ago. I installed windows in bootcamp and a few games on it.
When I play a game on it.within about 15mins.. my macbook pro (2.8GHz model) gets extremely hot. It's about 65 deg C (145 F).. I can hardly touch it just above the keyboard region. I'm guessing this is where the processor is.. The fans also kick in at full speed.
I do understand that the computer will get hot under heavy load.I'm just wondering if it is normal for the computer to get SO hot? Will it damage my computer in the long run? Should I go get it checked out at the apple store?
My top-of-the-line Macbook Pro 15" locks up after about an hour (or less) of use when playing what is usually a Source Engine based game running in Windows on Bootcamp (booting into Windows). The screen goes black and the audio gets stuck in a loop and the game crashes. My only option is to hold down the power button. It seems of course to be caused by the GPU overheating.I can play a little longer when I have the laptop sitting on a packet of frozen spinach, sometimes peas or even chicken fillets.. but I don't need to say that this is unacceptable, especially when you're 3/4 a way through a L4D2 campaign.
