MacBook Pro :: Add A HP Color LaserJet 2600n Wireless?
Mar 4, 2012I'm trying to add my printer, a HP Color LaserJet 2600n, to my MacBook Pro running OS X Lion via local wifi. However, the MacBook can find the printer, but somehow not connect with it; it's shown as inactive or just does not print.
There might be a problem with the driver (as in the beginning there were some pop-up warnings shown concerning this issue); I already downloaded the latest drivers manually (because Apple could not find them directly).Â
Is there even a way to use such an "old" printer? Are the drivers compatible with Lion?

Sep 8, 2014I am using a mid 2011 iMac 21 inch running Mavericks 10.9.4. Processor is Intel Core i5. Memory is 4GB 1333MHz DDR3. I have had a HP Color LaserJet 2600n connected since I bought the iMac new in November 2011. The printer continued to work after I upgraded from Lion. Thinking that the printer was not working I recently deleted the drivers. It simply turned out that its USB cable had become disconnected. I have since tried to reinstal it through Printer and Scanner Preferences but the iMac does not recognize it. The HP driver download page offers drivers for Lion but not for Mavericks, even though a (different) HP summary page of available drivers claims that that 2600n is supported by Mavericks.

Sep 24, 2008I have been on the phone to HP for days they are blaming my computer but really it doesn't sound right... Brand new iMac, and a brand new CM1312... I have plugged it directly into the back of the computer via the USB the computer sees it and there is no problem with printing... BUT using the HP Scanner software it cannot see the printer via USB... I used the HP Set Up Wizard and when it comes to the screen asking to find the USB or Network printer it can't see it under USB, EVEN THOUGH IT PRINTS VIA USB... Has anyone had this issue before? Am I better off using an ethernet cord?

Nov 10, 2009I just bought a HP Color Laserjet CP 1215 to use with my Macbook. Amazon didn't have any information about compatibility and I just assumed it would work (a mistake, obviously). I was ready to return it but a friend of mine pointed out that it might work with Airport Express. I have Airport Express and it would be great if it would work. I don't know why it would though. Oct 4, 2009It seems since I switched to Snow Leopard some applications can't print B/W anymore. These are apps like InDesign. Apps that use Color Management. I have played around with the settings but I haven't yet found a way to just print solid black text on my Brother laser printer. Everything comes out dithered.
Example:
I create a music sheet in Finale. Prints fine. Black Characters. Make eps, pdf or tiff files, import into InDesign for a book and InDesign will print the black fonts dithered. It does that to everything, imported or not.
If I print the PDFs that were created by Finale (which doesn't use color management) they print fine.
This dithering also happens when I turn color management off in InDesign. Consequently, when InDesign makes pdf files the solid black comes out as somewhat off black.

I have Snow Leopard, latest version.I had messed things up and somehow accidentally changed the color of the desktop to a light blue, from the darker background I had previously.Someone at Apple said to right click my mouse on the desktop and it would give me options to change the color. But nothing happens at all when I right click the mouse on the desktop. I get no options, and no menu. Same with left clicking the mouse on the desktop.

The new calibrated display profile could not be created or set to be the current profile for this display."also, i noticed they spelled "occured" wrong. Sep 17, 2009I bought my first uMbp the day Snow Leopard came out. Unfortunately, it was not installed on the uMbp. So upon running the mbp for the first time, I proceeded to install SL.
Now occasionally, maybe a once every other day, whenever I open up a few applications like Word or maybe even a new tab in Firefox, everything would freeze and the spinning color wheel would spin for about 30 or so seconds and everything would resume to normal.
Now I ask, is this normal behavior? I have the 2.26ghz uMBP edition with 2gb of ram.
Should I go ahead and do a clean re-install?

Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.
I use AdobeRGB & sRGB color profiles for my scans.

Sep 21, 2009I've found out the hard way that Snow Leopard does not support the same printers as Leopard did and now I'm stuck. I spent the better part of the day researching how to get my HP LaserJet 4m Plus to work with the new OS and got nowhere. Can anyone tell me what I can do to get the printer to work with the new OS? The printer may be old but it functions flawlessly and only has about 50,000 impressions made, so it still has lots of life. I have it hooked up via ethernet and the cable is run under the floor to the other side of the office so adapting a serial/USB would not be doable or practical. I don't have the money to blow on a new printer so I would really like to make this work somehow. Any help would be much appreciated.
