I tried image capture combined with newly downloaded snowleopard drivers for my epson perfection 4490 scanner. Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.
I use AdobeRGB & sRGB color profiles for my scans.
In Snow Leopard there is no longer a Preferences item on the Image Capture menu. I was looking for the option When a camera is connected, open:. I eventually found it in iPhoto preferences. Is this correct, or is my install (u/g from Leopard) broken? Also, what other Image Capture prefs were there, and where are they now?

Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
my system fonts are jacked up and fill in lines in Safari are not readable as the text is bigger than the fil in window. Also my laptop is running harder, hotter and the battery life is less than half of what it should be. I also get text overlap line to line sometimes in Safari.
I have restored my OS with a clean install and then recovered my profile from Time Machine, this is how I discovered its my profile. I added a clean profile the first time I rebuilt the mac and it ran much faster, with less hardware usage and longer battery life. Once I began to recover my profile the system was same as always slow with Safari issues mentionee earlier. I switched to the temp user account profile and the system is fast no Safari issues and less intensive activity going on, battery life good etc.
If I rebuild the mac again I am not able to recover the profile/account without issues, I would like to move just what I need to a new profile/account from Time Machine but it doesn't allow access to the original admin account for a selective restore. I would like to be much more granular about the restore and just move my documents and such. I don't want to recover the applications or application data at this point as I don't need it. I would rather re-install just the apps I need at this time. Other option would be to clean my account/profile so that it runs as it should or move everything I want (mostly documents) to a new profile for improved use.

I am trying to find an updated screen capture program (not video recording, just stills) that works well in Snow Leopard and will run OK in 64bit mode too. One of my favorite old programs from Windows was called "Hypersnap" and I would like to find something that good or better for the Mac. In that program you could do things like add highlights to the image, draw arrows or place clip art on the image too. After looking at Google, I just could not find anything like that, at least current for Snow Leopard use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just connected a Brother MFC-7860DW all in one printer scanner to my Mac wirelessly. Everything works perfectly except the scanning. Image capture will show the Brother in the device browser window, I click on Twain uni but can see no Connect click button. Just opening Image Capture "no device connected" If I go in to Print and Scan box there is no "scan" button at the top right corner as decribed in the manual. I have downloaded Twain in case my software was not up to date. Nothing happens from the printer buttons end. Seems the Mac can talk to the printer but not Twain Scanner. It seems tantalisingly close. Is there a magic completion?

Image Capture used to work, but now what happens is that I open it up, and my printer/scanner Might show up for a second, but then it disappears and image capture tells me that there's no camera or scanner connected.I think it's stopped working ever since I upgraded to 10.6. Any ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have deleted the photos off my camera manually and wanted to change it to shoot in RAW but then when i connected it back up to upload using 'Image Capture', the old image files show up as missing, and the new ones not at all so i changed back to jpeg format, but the problem wont go away
it seems like its saved the old image info in a cache or something can i wipe it clean and start over some way?

How do I go about fixing their profile/ resetting or deleting it to start over. None of their icons show up, someone has moved the My applications folder, Documents, and Downloads folders onto the dock and I am unable to change or remove them. How can I rename a .icc color profile in OS X
I used my Pantone Huey to calibrate bith my main display and my secondary (just switched primary display between the two machine)
Everything worked great but I have 2 profiles that have the exact same name.
I can open up the .icc and do a save as but that just changes the file name not the name displayed in sytem preferences
I installed XP through Boot Camp and the default color profile used just looks like crap. It's really washed out with dull colors and nothing like it is with Leopard loaded. What's the best way to fix that outside of using a monitor calibrator? I tried grabbing some pre-made color profiles off here to use since some of them had a Windows version with the Mac but I went into the color profiles tab in Windows to try and install the profile and when I selected to use it it didn't seem to change anything. I've never changed the LCD color profile in Windows before. Can anyone tell me how you did it?

Just finished the install and I am wowed by the color of my screen. I had been using a custom calibrated profile in Leopard. Snow Leopard defaulted it back and it is MUCH better than what I had. I tested my 'calibrated' profile and it is god awful now.
Anyone else experience a major improvement in color after the upgrade? What could the explanation be for this?
I just installed iWork '08 on my new Macbook pro (snow leopard and general '09 programs are on it) and for some reason, the text coloring and highlighting, generally anything to do with the text and whatever appears on the pages themselves have completely gone blank. The highlight appears as this light purplish color, I can not get the text to read as visible. It appears white no matter what. Even the text blinker isn't showing. Is there a problem with installing iWork '08 on an '09 based Mac? This is a legal copy of iWork I've had since buying my first Mac, so I know it can't really be the disc screwing up, is there anyone that might be able to help? This is an image of the problem. As you can see, the black is the default font color, but it does not show up as it. Also, the general coloration of it is off.

However, when I go into my display file and switch between profiles, nothing changes. Also, when I click on different profiles, I get that "bong" sound when I hit the mouse.
This might be a stupid/silly question, but I'm going to go ahead and ask anyways since it's been bugging me all day.Brand new MBP 13", used the stock 250GB HD for a couple days but decided to get a bigger 7200RPM drive. So I know what the screen looked like with the initial factory install of OS X. Fast forward to later this afternoon after I put in the new drive. I re-installed the OS using a retail copy of Leopard instead of the bundled discs for the 13", and after everything was booted up I noticed the color profile was really off. Colors weren't as vibrant as before, and everything just looked so washed out. I noticed it right away, but did all the system updates to 10.5.8 hoping it was just a glitch. After a restart the colors was still off, and I verified via System Profile to make sure the GPU is being recognized etc.
Convinced myself to re-install this time using the discs that came with the MBP.After everything is installed, the color tones are back; much more vibrant colors and no longer looked washed out.So I guess my question is, is the retail copy of Leopard not installing the correct color profiles? If I was to do a fresh install of SL tomorrow would something similar happen (guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow I guess).
My MacBook Pro is connected to the LED Cinema Display. Every time it wakes from sleep, or sometimes after screensaver, it forgets the colour profile. I have to go system preferences and click display and then it automatically uses the correct profile. This happens on both the LED display and the MacBook screen. I am running Snow Leopard, and I don't think I had this issue before upgrading. I googled and found one thread on a different forum about the exact same issue, but no answer. [URL:....] Interestingly it was posted before Snow Leopard.

I was messing around with mine trying to get rid of the purplish hue to all Blues and overwritten the default one. I'd rather not have to do a re-install and my Time Machine backup is of my old mbp (so different panel).
