can i make the actual box transparent so the buttons and the user profiles are sill there but floating, like everything will be there but that white/grayish box that surrounds everything wont be?
View 2 RepliesSometimes (very rarely, but it does occur) I need to press the F1 button or F8 or another "f" button. However, as we all know, apple has placed really nice (I really like them) shortcuts for widgets, expose, volume, play/pause etc. So when I press that button (say F8) the music starts playing. So how do I "press it right". Do I need to press another button with it. Or is it preferences.

I was trying to replace an icon on a classic app, so that it wouldn't look so ugly in the dock. I made a picture that had some transparency in it. I tried copy and pasting from both a .psd and a TIFF into the info window. It almost worked. The app now has a 128x128 icon, but the trasparency was replaced by white. Is there any way to get the icon to retain the transparency? Alternately, does anyone have an OSX icon for Dreamweaver and/or Flash?

We have a Mac with separate user profiles for each family member. Each family member also has their own iTunes with their own Apple ID. When we tried to download iTunes content from the cloud to one of the profiles from their own iTunes account, we received a message that the computer was associated with a different Apple ID and if we changed the authorization, the other AppleID would be blocked for 90 days. How can we deal with this issue and have each user download iTunes content onto their own profiles on the same Mac?

I'm stuck on a rather buggy problem. I'm trying to produce animated gifs with transparent backgrounds for incorporation into a Keynote (v. 3) presentation. [The individual frames of the substantial animations I am creating are being produced in Matlab using the "print -dpng" command with white backgrounds, which I then want to make transparent.] I seem to be able to download silly animated gifs with transparent backgrounds from the web that display correctly in Keynote. But when I produce such animations myself using convert [from the imagemagick suite, both the version distributed with fink and the more recent version available at [URL] all frames after the first display with white backgrounds in Keynote (but look ok elsewhere). Optimizing the animated transparent gifs in adobe ImageReady CS (v. 1) Does anyone know a good mac program to make animated gifs (with transparent backgrounds) that display correctly in the latest version of Keynote?

Post-Lion, if I click on Dashboard, my widgets appear on a separate screen with a blank background. Is there any way to get the widgets back to "floating" on the desktop. (I'm sure floating is not the technical term.) I don't have a ton of widgets -- just the basics. I need the calculator widget to appear on the desktop so I can use it when looking at a spreadsheet. Cursor to the right, page moves left, cursor up, page down. Everything was normal (except for the screen which is screwed up in the bottom half. But suddenly now as soon as it boots up, it doesn't show the apple logo, but shows a blue screen with a yellow satellite kinda looking graphic, floating around. we have a macbook pro running Leopard. My wife and I have separate user accounts on the single laptop and keep the music in one central Public folder (both or our iTunes are pointed to this public folder). For some reason, my wife is unable to make any changes to song info (album art, change genre, etc.). However, she can play the music, update her Nano, import music, etc. The only thing she can't do is make changes to the song info. This isn't an issue with my account because I am the primary user account on the computer. We are both set up as Admin and I have assigned Read/Write privileges to all files. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Tech support/program specialist has no idea.

There are light vertical wavy floating lines visible on the screen when running Windows XP. They are more clearly seen when you look the screen at an angle, from down below you look upwards to the screen. The floating lines can be precisely seen on grey backgrounds. These lines are not noticable much, but when you closely look with grey backgrounds, they are visible.
The problem is very strange because I've tried updating the drivers to my HD2600XT, and no luck at all.
I'm not able to determine wether the problem is hardware of software related, due to the problem not existing in Mac OS X.
I am in search for a lightweight, TextEdit-like app that has the handy floating text insert feature. Freeware would be the greatest, but i dont mind paying a modest shareware fee. I have and use Appleworks still, which has the handy feature by Option-Clicking anywhere you want the floating text, but am looking for something a little more future proof.
I downloaded Bean and iText Express, but I could not find that sweet feature in those apps.
I am thinking about buying a macbook pro and since my boyfriend is spanish and I'm danish, I would like to know if it`s possible to have danish as the language in the admin account, and then english or spanish in another account for him?
