I'm using a late 2012 iMac and a Retina MacBook Pro, both with very latest OS - same problem on both. I've restarted my TimeCapsule and BT HomeHub

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 8000 hooked up with a USB cable. I've tried disconnecting everything, restarting, trying different ports, nothing is working. I also tried resetting the print system in system prefs, reinstalling the drivers as well. When I try to print the printer just sits there. Its always stuck on sending print data. I don't use this printer often but it used to work and I would get this problem once or twice every few months. I solved it just by restarting but now it wont go away.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever my Mac (it happens on two different ones) is awaken from sleep, it seems the machine was attempting to log out. If there was an unsaved file and I wake the machine it says it timed out to log out waiting for me to have saved it. At that point I just cancel the logout.
This happens on an iMac 2013 and a new Mac Pro as well. Is there a setting I am missing?
I am going to buy the new 5K 27" IMAC. I have an older version of Lightroom 2 with the upgrade to 4.4 on my old computer. Can I install lightroom 2 on the new machine and also upgrade it to 4.4 or do I have to go and buy Lightroom 5? Is there a way of getting Lightroom from my older IMAC to the new one.

My imac disappears from the network (it stops showing on the "devices/shared" area on Finder and then I am unable to put it back in. I suspect this happens when it goes to sleep, not sure.
This started with multiple names of the imac appearing in the "shared" window. I did the recommended temporary fix and then had to restart all of my network to get it to work. it did, but later in the day the imac disappeared from it. I am running 10.10.1

I have a late-2009 27" iMac i7 with 8gb Ram and a 1TB HD. I updated my OS to Yosemite soon after it came out. Now, I admit I don't use the computer that often, so it took a while to notice the issues but, we first realized there was a problem in early November when my husband could not download a game (presumably because of the wi-if connectivity issues supposedly fixed in the latest update). It was around a week after he finally was able to download tthe game, that he was playing it and the computer would just shut down out of nowhere. No warning, just shut down and restart with the "your computer shut down unexpectedly" screen.
Now, because it happened so many times, I started to get worried about all of my photos and music that is stored on thIs computer, so I went to do a back-up on my time capsule. This was when I noticed my computer had at some point been renamed (not by any human) to "my Computer (3)" when prior to yosemite (as far as I can tell) it was named "my computer". Also at this point I could not for the life of me get the time capsule to back up the computer as it was looking for "my computer" and all that was available was "my computer (3)". This is when it had been working flawlessly for years. I ultimately had to wipe the TC completely, reformat it and start a back up from scratch. It was for the short period of time that the time capsule was not connected to the computer that we noticed it was no longer shutting down unexpectedly. however, one the TC was reconnected and doing a back up, anything extra that you would be doing (with the exception of web surfing) caused the computer to crash.
So, simple fix, right? Turn off the auto back ups while and try to remember to turn them on every so often. fine , dandy, whatever. However, I have done the latest yosemite update and the wi-if still does not seem to be staying connected, disconnecting every few minutes. Now I'm seemingly having more issues with a game that is well within the limits for my computer and the game will not start.

I try to upload music from commercially produced cds but my iMac (intel) running Yosemite has stopped working.
It uploaded several discs then had trouble uploading one. When I put the next cd in to upload it made a few strange whirling sounds then ejected the disc. It didn't get mounted the the desktop either.
I tried it first thing in the morning when the machine was freshly started and not hot but nothings working.

All the links I've tried so far take me around in circle
I yesterday installed Yosemite and the previous version of Final Cut Pro does not work with it. When I try to install the latest version of Final Cut Pro from the purchased tab in the app store, I get the message: "Final Cut can't be installed on this computer because it requires at least 4 GB of memory". When I go to the storage tab in "About This Mac", it shows that I have 154.49 GB free of 319.21 GB.

I've only got 21 GB left on my iMac out of 639 GB or something (I save a LOT of videos and audios). My computer is running soooooo slow so I'm thinking that it's just got too much in there and too close to the max capacity to run faster. Am I right? Do I need to delete things or purge or what to free up storage?
I've already deleted a ton of files but I think they are saved in more than one place which means duplicate files all over the place I think? Not sure.
But I can't always save something to the folder I want to save it in, it goes in my downloads folder where then I have to move it to the appropriate folder to save in an organized manner. I've deleted most of my downloads folder and many videos but I'd rather save them somewhere instead and not just rely on YouTube to host and save them.
I have an online data backup system too, Carbonite, but I'm not sure I can save other things there that then are not still on my computer?
I could save things on a hard drive but will that really solve my sloooow computer running issues?
Not sure what to do?

Recently brought iMac in for software upgrade. now 10.10.1
After i got home, i realized that the iMac now always asks me to login with my password (which i do). But i would prefer not to have to login/put in password every time. just want my iMac to open as it always had.
I assume i go to system preferences/users & groups. i see i am the current user/administrator. When i click "change password" it says: "*** is using an iCloud password to log in and unlock the screen.
do you want to change your iCloud password or stop using your iCloud password to unlock this mac AND CREATE A SEPARATE PASSWORD?"
Don't want separate or any passwords. Do i just want to click the "change iCloud password" button? Ijust want to log in without a password. How do i do that?

My iMac ( late 2012, 27", 3.4 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM, 3TB Fusion Drive, OS X 10.10.1 ) has taken to randomly restarting for no reason that I can find. It seems to be mostly when I am not actually doing anything, but, as I say, it's random. It did it five times in about half an hour the other day, then it didn't do it for a day or so, but it just did it again, which prompted me to ask. I have run Tech Tool Pro 7, and everything has passed. I have repaired permissions ( there were lots ). What next?

My 2011 21.5 inch iMac keeps freezing. Strangely, the trackpad works but nothing on the screen reacts to moving the cursor around or clicking anywhere. requiring a restart (using the power button on the back).
When I then restart, I get an immediate error message saying "A graphics problem has been detected" and enables me to report the problem, which I do.
However, this happens several times a day and only since an upgrade to Yosemite and I have tried a software update.
