Dec 7, 2014How to turn off secured guest?
View 1 RepliesHow to turn off secured guest?
View 1 RepliesAfter creating a guest account I noticed that anyone uses that account can use my(remembered) secured network connection.
Normally, in my network settings, remembering used networks option is checked. When I look into the keychain, I see two entries for my network name. One is in my logins section and the other is in the system section. I suppose, the guest uses the entry which is in the system section. If I delete the entry which is in system section, it is been created again on next connection.
If I do not want any guest to use my network connection, I am having to cancel the remembering used network option and select disconnect on logging out option in airport advanced settings. But; if do this, I am having to select my network and type its password every time I login.
I simply want if a guest uses the Guest Account, he wouldn't able to use my network connection without entering the correct password. Is it possible?

Apple in their wisdom feels that their emails are so important they should be highlighted in mail. i dont agree and do not need a highlight on their latest sale email. Â
i followed the support web instructions of removing the 'hidden' rule from mails preferences (funny it was not visible but did remove the 'apple news rule') Â
however, even after restarting mail - emails from apple are still highlighted (highlit?) ...Â
how do i turn off this annoying big brother 'feature'Â

I have recently tried out the new Yosemite feature "dark menu bar and Dock" using a side add-on called Lights Out and thought it was cool, but was not of any better use so I removed the add-on and went back into "general settings" and unchecked the "dark menu bar and Dock" box. The problem lies in that it won't stay unchecked leaving my system in the dark. So my search the light has begun. I have only tried restarting my system as that is the only thing that I can think of to resolve the issue, but it did not work since the "use dark menu bar and Dock" is still checked and won't stay uncheck after closing the "system preferences" window.Â
to why it is staying checked and how to force it to go back to light menu bar mode? It's only an inconvenience, but one that should not be.

I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I use the built in Mail, Calendar and Contact applications. What I would like to understand is if there is a way to disable the function that automatically adds email address into my contact.app without me specifically doing this function myself?

View 13 Replies View RelatedHas anyone succesfully installed and used rsa secured on their macbook air? I was able to get it working on my iMAC with no issues. However when I try to import the token using my MacBook Air, I get a message saying, Please select a device where the token will be stored. However there are no devices to choose in the menu/screen. If I try to click on the token storage device link, I get the message "no token storage device was detected" and I cannot proceed further. As I said earlier I used the same token on my iMAC without any issues and I do know that the token is 128 bit for sure. Is it something to do with the fact that the MB Air has a SSD and not a regular hard disk drive?

After trying again and again and failing to connect to my home wireless network which has a password, I tried again after disabling the password, and it worked fine, I'm playing music via iTunes through it right now.
Problem is, I'd obviously prefer a secured network, why can't I connect to a secured network? I'm using a Linkseys WRT160N Router as a base.
PDF file i am trying to print is proteced against edits only. Printing is allowed. "Preview" is opening the file, and i can view it on screen, but when trying to print it, i am asked to enter a password.Other programs (Adobe reader, Foxit PDF, etc) are opening and printing it without any password prompts. Is there anything that can be done with it? Or just stick to other software?

Trying to get Mac to connect to the internet video D-Link router. When I click on my wireless the box that comes up shows a place to enter a password and I do so but the connect button is not active only the cancel button is active? Did find another box that gives about 6 choices of connection types this is geek to me. In the list of wireless connections there is one unsecured and it does connect to it.

Had (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.
I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.
Back to 1)
What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.
I've MRoogled my heart out and each "solution" is left open ended (gee thanks) so I want to ask for help in my specific case.
I have 3 computers on my network, a MacBook, a MacBook Pro and my Power Mac G4.
When I connect to either the Power Mac G4 or MacBook it auto-connects as a guest with limited access. However I CANNOT connect to the MacBook Pro as a guest no matter what I do. I have to be a Registered User to access ANY files on my MacBook Pro.
The MacBook and MacBook Pro both run 10.6 and the Power Mac is running 10.4.
I've recently activated the default guest account in leopard. However even though when I check in the accounts.prefpane it says that it is on and its 'login only' and when I click on the account it says 'allow guests to login into this computer' and its on. However when I boot up my machine and click on the guest icon, it wont let me in as it shakes the menu (login failed).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy current setup is a first gen TC running at 802.11n 5GHz with a Linksys WRT54GS in bridge mode broadcasting 802.11b/g. Both are WPA2 networks, and the setup has been great so far.
When the new AEBS/TC came out, I was looking at the guest network capability and that's got me wondering if there's any way I can create such a network with my setup. I would love to have a network for my DS and PSP to be able to join and would preferably like to have it unsecured to avoid connection issues.
I'm well aware that my TC doesn't have the proper hardware to do that by itself, but is there any way I can create a guest network to allow access to the Internet but not any networked computers on the main network? Would I need a seperate router to do this, or would my current setup be sufficient? What settings would I need, or can this even be done?
Come to think of it, would it just be easier for me to setup an additional gateway using a third router, hide the SSID and have it unsecured? (Although I'd be afraid of compromising my network's security with this method.)
My question for the day: how to keep the setting for guest account, without download anything, & simple? I found this link, it's confusing, for woman [URL]
