Apple in their wisdom feels that their emails are so important they should be highlighted in mail. i dont agree and do not need a highlight on their latest sale email.
i followed the support web instructions of removing the 'hidden' rule from mails preferences (funny it was not visible but did remove the 'apple news rule')
however, even after restarting mail - emails from apple are still highlighted (highlit?) ...
how do i turn off this annoying big brother 'feature'

I have recently tried out the new Yosemite feature "dark menu bar and Dock" using a side add-on called Lights Out and thought it was cool, but was not of any better use so I removed the add-on and went back into "general settings" and unchecked the "dark menu bar and Dock" box. The problem lies in that it won't stay unchecked leaving my system in the dark. So my search the light has begun. I have only tried restarting my system as that is the only thing that I can think of to resolve the issue, but it did not work since the "use dark menu bar and Dock" is still checked and won't stay uncheck after closing the "system preferences" window.
to why it is staying checked and how to force it to go back to light menu bar mode? It's only an inconvenience, but one that should not be.

my Mac Pro is scheduled to arrive in a week and I'm looking for a piece of software that allows me to keep the bookmarks of my MacBook Pro synchronized with God I mean, uh, the Mac Pro. Preferably automatically or by the click of a button. I'm sure there's an application that does exactly this, but Google didn't seem to know of any.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a Palm Tungsten E2 PDA and have just installed the synchronization application on my MacBook Pro. However, I've attempted the first synchronization which seemed to go OK but I can't find on my Mac Pro any of the calender/address and other information that is on my Palm and should have been transferred. I've looked in iCal,Address Book and iMail but there's nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I sent an email from my Gmail account in Mail.app on my MacBook, it shows up in the Sent folder. When I send it from [URL] on a public computer or from my iPhone or iPad, it shows up in the Gmail mailbox in Mail.app (which is its own mailbox and not part of the Inbox section of Mail.app).
This makes it difficult when I'm trying to find a recently sent email because I don't use any one machine more than the other. I divide my emailing time between all my devices and I love how simply it works. Is there a way to get all sent Gmail emails to show up in the Sent folder under the Mailboxes section in the top-left corner of the Mail.app window?
I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I use the built in Mail, Calendar and Contact applications. What I would like to understand is if there is a way to disable the function that automatically adds email address into my contact.app without me specifically doing this function myself?

I added someone the other day, and now every time I log in it says "XXX@hotmail.com on the local list is inside the group "Friends" but not on the server list. Do you want this buddy to be added?" It doesn't say this on IM+ on my iPod Touch, and the contact doesn't show up until I click add. Is there any reason for this? Is there any way I can permanently add them or something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just switched over from a PC a couple of days ago and I am getting used to my new Macbook Pro, and MAC OS X. However I have run into a problem I have no idea how to fix, or what's wrong.
I have the "Switching to the Mac" book from the Missing Manuals series, and throughout the book it mentions wonderful keyboard shortcuts that can be used for a variety of things. The problem is that most of them do not seem to work. For example, Control-F4 is apparently meant to cycle through all open windows, only it does nothing on my computer. This is true of many of the shortcuts I have tried. I tried to search the forums here but haven't found an answer, nor has googling turned up anything useful.
Also, I was using a program called Syncback to sync my flash drive with a folder on my hard drive before, and that program is not available for macs, so I have been looking for a replacement. I tried Rsync, but it didn't seem to work - only syncing some of the files in the specified folder. Does anyone know of a freeware program for synchronization of files that is good?
I am a mac user and I have a problem with my gmail account, some friends are unable to email me.According to them it shows a message "undeliverable." I contacted the google support team and they say that the problem lies with that fact that my mac is not synchronized with the internet time?

Had (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.
I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.
Back to 1)
What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.
I was playing around with my mac g4 logic board... ( yes, i know... ) anyways, i press the power, the light turns on, and the fan spinns up then everything just turns off... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95035

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy MBP won't turn on properly. Every time I press the power button the computer turns on but instantly goes into sleep mode. I have tried restarting a lot of times and I have let it stay on in sleep mode for a while, nothing seems to work. I have had the problem occassionally where my MBP won't wake from sleep but it usually works after I restart it. Is there anything I can do to get my MBP working properly?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI appear to be unable to turn off my bluetooth. The option has totally disappeared. Have not a clue why. I'm running 10.6.4 on a Late 2008 Macbook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while i'll go to wake my imac 27 i7 up from sleep and nothing happens. It's like the machine has just turned off.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have read over and over how many users have sleeping issue problems. The way I look at it is just leave your computer on. Mine runs 24 hrs. a day 365 days a year. I never put it to sleep. Yes you well save a little hydro but your problems will go away. When I am not sitting at the computer I turn off the monitor. I have done this for the last 10 years on the PC and since Feb.14 on my new MacPro without any issues. So in my opinion, leave your Macs on and turn off your monitors when not in use.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new 24" HP LP2475w display that I'll use as my primary monitor.
I'll keep my old 17" ACD as a second monitor, but I won't need to use it that much and would prefer to power it off when it's not in use.
Is there a way to do that? (I touched the power button for almost 15 seconds and it didn't turn off.)
have a new 24" imac, about a year old and the fan came on after it got very hot, only browsing the web) and now it wont turn off!, switched off mac last night, turned it on again this morning and fan is spinning like a goodun.
