I would like to use a perfectly good Canon Pixma ip4200 printer with OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Yosemite 10.10.1 on my 2013 model iMac but Canon say they do not do a driver for these more recent versions of OSX later than 10.7. Is there any way to get this to work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

We recently installed a mac pro running serverX 10.5.6.(2x3.2 Quad Core Intel Xeon, 16GB 800 MHZ.) I was able to connect to the server from my imac (leopard) and use ARD (V3.2.2) with no problems. Now, since I had shutdown the server for about a week I started it up the other day I am now unable to access it thru our network. On my IMac I try to access using ARD the server lists: "Access Denied". Using GO-Connect to Server I get the message "Connection Failed The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP and your network connection and try again."
I can ping the IP address from my imac. The server is able to access the internet, so I know it's not my network. I have used Disk Utility (on the server) and reset the permissions. After hours on Apple's site and googling I am at a loss. I'm thinking it has something to do with access permissions or something got tweaked at startup (no startup progs in Accts login window) after I turned the unit off for over a week.
I am on a ship using a proxy server from our ISP to connect to the internet via a V-SAT satalite dome. We all have individual accounts and the guys using PC's have no problems connecting to the internet. My account also works on a P.C. However whenever i try to connect to the internet I get an Error message 403 "the following URL could not be found" "access denied". However if I disable my proxy settings reconnect to the internet then re-enable my proxy settings I am able to get on line but only for a minute or two then I get the message again. Switching off my proxies then on again always gets me on line but only for a very short period (30 secs to a minute ish).
There has been an occasional time when I have been able to access the internet for longer but only when there has been 3 or 4 people on line and browsing at the same time. I have spoken to my ISP and he thinks I may have been piggy backing onto someone elses account but was unable to offer any other advice and referred my case to someone else and I am still waiting for their response. I am running a mac book pro on snow leopard 10.6.4, using firefox (have the same problem with Safari) with proxy set to "use system settings" and my network preferences set with the given proxy server settings (192.168.10.132, port 3128). I have the same problems using WiFi or cable also.
Other info: my IP address stays the same. Although my cable IP is different from my wifi address. IPv6 is set to automatic. I think the problem lies with my mac as my given user account works on PC computers ( which I am using now!). Also there are 3 other guys with mac books who have also had the same problems although they are now at home. I have also tried changing to a guest account with similar problems although I cannot change proxy settings.
The Mac app store on my computers indicates that i have one update avalible, but when i try to ener the update section to start it. I get this message. Access Denied

I have 2 new I-Mac computers set up on a home network. I have my new Canon D480 Multifunction printer connected to one of the Macs ("Mac #1) by USB and it prints perfectly with the driver recommended in the printer manual downloaded from the Canon site. I have Printer sharing turned on. The printer's name on Mac #1 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) which is the name that was automatically given to the printer when I downloaded the drivers and installed them.
However I am unable to print to the printer from the second new Mac ("Mac #2") although I have downloaded the same printer driver and have added the printer on Mac #2. The printer's name on Mac #2 is Canon D460-490 (UFRII LT) @ Mac #1.I go through the motions of File, Print, but nothing happens.
Trying to install Dreamweaver MX2004 on the only computer I own that I can still run the program on - 10.4.11 MacBook with plenty of space - and I get this error message.
Of course there is no way, other than spending countless hours of reading thousands of posts and millions of worthless nonsense, to find any help on Adobe (Price per share, $36.37 as of 12.07, "Have I resolved all your issues?").
Any idea as to what's going on? It was on another computer...I may be able to do a Firewire move of the software...if I can relaunch, but I think I removed it from the other computer already. I ran disk utility, as suggested on another forum where I trolled for about an hour.
I have 2 Imacs, both running OS 10.9.3. The run on a simple office ethernet wired network. We have had no problems until yesterday when suddenly one of the Imacs (Imac A) disappeared from the network. Imac A could see Imac B but not the other way round. Imac A connected to Imac B but was denied access to all the folders under the user directory on Imac B. The folders all have the no entry icon on them and if I try to open them I get the message "can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents" . I have checked that the sharing set up on both machines allows access read and write on items and we have been successfully sharing files for months.
I have hooked up an old Mac Pro running 10.8.6. to the network. It can see both the Imacs but when I transferred files from that machine to Imac B I got the message "can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents". I've checked and the permissions on this folder are set for all to read and write.
So far I have checked and repaired privileges using disk first aid.
The Imacs are both 3.1ghz Quad core i5 running 10.9.3.
I'm trying to get Prey anti theft working on my macbook. It runs manual and the site says it checks out but a test run didn't seem to work. So I checked console and found: com.apple.launchd[1] (0x10a740.cron[2330]) Could not setup Mach task special port 9: (os/kern) no access Then as I go poking thru console for further clues I notice that I'm denied access to certain logs. Even normal stuff like Itunes crash and such. I'm logged in as admin and I don't recall ever noticing this on my old imac running Panther. This one is running Leopard 10.5.8 and I'm still pretty new to it. Am I missing something here? Why am I denied access? I know it protects certain core systems but console logs?

After waiting a while, it changed into a folder with an iterrogation in the middle of it and it starts to twinkle. I really don't know whats going on. I have a iMAC running 10.5.5 and have connected a HP Photosmart C6280 Printer to it via the USB cable. Using Bonjour to connect a XP and a Vista box I get a error saying "ERROR You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". I am logged in as the administrator when I do it on the XP or Vista computer and have completed this function on other printer installation before so I know the permissions are there. The software for the printer is loaded on both windows computers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a Canon MP620 all in one with my MacPowerbook running Leopard 10.5.8. My Canon software is MP Navigator 1.05. The printer is agonizely slow. Sometimes after I press the print button it can take over a minute to even start. This not only occurs when I first start up but after the printer has been in use. This occurs when printing black and white text or pictures. I have been going through a hub and have not yet tried a direct connect which I will shortly. Anyone got any ideas or is this just a slow printer?

It is recognized, I can print a sample page from the printer utility, but InDesign CS5, Acrobat Pro, Word 2011, text edit, Firefox, etc won't print to it. After hours on the phone with Canon support, they told me it was a MAC problem. I have a new Canon Pixma MX860 printer..
First , Downloaded drivers from the Canon website with their support phone person helping set it up. Printer worked wirelessly with the MAC for 2 days. Then gone. Printer no longer on printer list and won't print either by USB or wirelessly. Called Canon support.
He guided me thru reinstalling in different ways, repaired permissions, set up additional acct name, but still the printer in not listed on Printer Browser screen when wireless used (it is listed when USB connected, but cannot print)and not listed at all on Print & Fax screen. My MAC doesn't recognize the printer now. What happened?

Did a disk utility 1st aid days before...nothing needed repair...Did the 1st aid, due to slowness starting, downloading from cameras very slow, and message "start up disk is almost full", which it is NOT ...46GB available.
I can print wireless but I can not scan wireless. Why? I am connected by wire from the canon 490 direct to my airport so why is it the scanner will not work? Can anyone explain ?

It can find the printer as an IJ device via LAN, and it will tell me that the print job is being sent and that it has printed but nothing comes out. Same result when i connected it via USB cable. Have tried installing/reinstalling drivers from Canon and even once got it to print a test page.

I recently obtained a 2013 Macbook air 13" and upgraded the os to Yosemite. I plugged in my travel printer, Canon BJC-85 and there is no driver compatible. The mac recognized it as plugged in but under the list of available installed drivers there is nothing that will work with it.
I tried to do a software update but it says my system is already up to date. I went to the canon website and it said mac OS X already has the drivers.
I used this printer on another mac OS X laptop and it had the drivers already like it should.

I have my Canon iP4200 printer hooked up to my iMac and have been using it for years with out any problems until today. When i try to print something nothing happens. In the Printer queue application thing in the dock, it shows the document in queue and its status is "printing". On top of the window it shows this message: 'GenericClass: waiting for device' whatever that means i assume thats the issue but have no clue what it means. I have so many things to print for uni and need to get this working again, how do i get it back to working order again??
View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I tried to print something, I got a message that the printer was not responding. The amber screen on the printer was telling me to "Insert Cartridge". I have tried several things, up to and including changing all the print cartridges. No change. I tried to print and the printer driver returned the error message "Install Print Head". I did not remove anything. I suspect that what is generating the errors is a malfunction on the part of the printer and is not user serviceable. A quick search of the web turns up nothing specific to my printer (Pixma MP780), but some web posts do talk about replacing the print head. How easy is this? Is the printer worth taking in for service?
View 6 Replies View Related I just received my first mac today, a macbook. I am having troubles already trying to get my printer that is connected to my other computer to work. My other computer has Linux/Windows and I am trying to get it to work while it is running windows, first. The printer is a Canon Pixma MP470. It works fine in windows, and when I try to print in OS X, I went to "add printer" -> "Windows" button -> "Canon MP470". That's no good though. Oh, first before that, I did put the CD that came with the printer and went through the setup and installed everything on it. What happens now is the printer recognizes there is a job because it moves the nozzles and pulls a piece a paper through whenever I send a job, but with no printing on it.
So I plugged the printer directly into my MB, and it also worked. It recognized my printer and under the "driver" tab, it displayed "Canon MP470 series", but was grayed out. When I try to select the driver for it when it is through my network, I don't have a driver called "Canon MP470 series", the closest I have is "Canon PIXMA MP500 - Gutenprint v5.1.3", which is what I have been using.
Also, is there anything else I need to know about getting it to work when my computer is running linux? I will be using CUPS in linux.
Without knowing any particular models, which brand would you say is better for an all-in-one color laser printer in your experience...HP or Canon? I have always had HP, but I have grown tired of their driver issues, etc. I have never had any Canon computer products before, but they have 2 new models that look appealing to me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Canon printer and I was going through the manual through the canon application (not the book manual) and it seems like somehow the manual is tied into my final cut express app. Shouldn't my canon manual have some sort of canon icon. The icon that is showing is a lego block with the final cut express picture. How can I get the correct icon on there? When I click on quick look it says "Final Cut Express Plugin File." Should the final cut express icon be showing up for this?
