Word 2008 is driving me crazy. I'm writing a thesis, very basic, no strange graphics or whatever, but the damn thing crashes a lot of times. I have the latest updates and have done a few uninstall/install cycles + usual mac stuff (delete preferences, repair permissions) but to no avail. How does it work for you ? When I used the 2004 version it run much smoother. I could switch back, but while Office 2004 came from "unknown" sources I have a legal purchased copy of Office 2008 which I'd like to use.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI own an older version of Office for Mac. Clicking word, it says version X Clicking Office it says version X. It works fine with tiger. If I upgrade to leopard, will it still work? I'd rather not to have to buy the newest 2008 version.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason spell check does not work on my mac. I have Microsoft Word 2004 and as far as I can see I have the spell check on and it should be functioning correctly. No matter how many words I spell incorrectly, I'll hit Check Spelling, and it'll say that there aren't an errors. I click ok and that's it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to set up a template for a letter so that when I write letters the layout is the same and I just fill in the details. What I don't understand is how does this differ from just using a letter I have written before and then just changing the information. What is so special about using template? Am I missing something? I would like to know if I missing something that would make it easier

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite I cannot use headphones on my Macbook Air (2013 model).
The problem seems to only occur when I am on the same network as an Apple TV. If I unplug the Apple TV, or turn off Wi-Fi on my Mac then the headphones start working again. Obviously this isn't a great workaround, as I like to be able to stream music over the Internet and listen using headphones. The usefulness of an Apple TV is greatly reduced if I need to wait for it to cold-boot each time I want to use it!
I have an application that requires Java. I had upgraded to the Yosemite OS. I installed Java 6 as required for the app. However, it seems some functions in my app still don't work. So, my question is does Java 6 work with Yosemite? I had no problems with Maverick OS.

I recently upgraded my OS with the free installation for Yosemite. When trying installing Yosemite my Macbook Pro running Mavericks asked me for the user password, which I provided.Yosemite installed fine, no problems.
Now, however, I am needing to install some software on my Macbook Pro after installing Yosemite. Like before, it asked me for my password, but this time it came back as incorrect. I tried several more times and it's still registering as incorrect.
I followed the directions shown here: OS X Yosemite: Reset a login password
However, I can't follow the instructions past step 4:
4. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
5. Log in to your account....
When I click on Users & Groups, I don't see anything that allows me to log in to my account (I'm assuming it's because I'm already logged into it?). I only see options to Change the Password, open the Contacts Card, Login Options, and change Parental Controls. When I select "Change the Password", it asks me to enter the old password, which I can't do for obvious reasons.
So what can I do to recover my existing password?

The Reminders App does not work on Yosemite (10.10.1) with two iCloud accounts. It seems like when there are two iCloud accounts connected in Yosemite (10.10.1) the plist file for Reminders disappears.
I have tried restarting Reminders; restarting the mac; starting the mac in recovery mode to repair the disk and disk permissions; and starting the mac in recovery mode and reinstalling OSX.
