After downloading Yosemite 10.10.1 to my Macbook Air, I can't import photos from camera to iPhoto. Had no problem before. It recognizes camera and says loading, but it never does load photos.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've new to MAC (1 month or so). I bought a 24" iMac. Coming from PC, which has been great for me for a long time, I decided to try out MAC. I'm a hobby photographer with a DSLR camera. I want to load my photos (RAW + jpgs) to my computer hard drive. Automatically, iPhoto pops up and it's like I can't do anything with photos without having to go through iPhoto. I want to avoid iPhoto all together and create my own folder structure system on the hard drive, but my camera doesn't show up in 'Devices' in Finder. How do other photographers load their photos? I find it hard to image they have to go through iPhoto every single time. I have the camera hooked to the computer via USB. Is there something else I should be doing?
Another question about iPhoto.. . Can you organize your photos in folders within folders? Or can you just have one level of organization? It seems like your photo library would eventually just turn into a humungous sea of albums. Any advice on how to be better organized with iPhoto.
After installing Snow Leopard on both of my computers, I have found that while the computers recognize my digital camera it will not allow me to import photos into i-photo and eventually you have to just force quit i-photo to get out of it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat happens is that i attend a school, where we are 700 people using the same internet. Actually it's divided into 4 sections, so there are probably 250 in my group. This network is protected by a WPA2 password, and has additional login forms, which gives the school the ability to check all in- and outgoing transfer. However, I have lately been getting some problems connecting. What happens is that I connect, and it works for about 2 minutes. Then, it just won't load any sites and just keeps trying to load until it finally admits that it can't retrieve the server. It's my third year. and I have never experienced this before, so I thought: Well, gotta be the school's internet, but i haven't heard of any other ones having this problem. This makes me worried that my macbook's airport extreme card is broken.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced a similar problem, or maybe could give a hint towards a solution? I am running a 13 inch macbook unibody (the silver one), with the newest system and all upgrades installed. Problem is: The airport extreme card is located in the display. I don't get why, but it makes me not want to change it myself, should it be destroyed.
When I log into iPhoto I now get this message:
"There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto library. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions for this library for you?" and it gives me the following options "quite" or repair"
I have no SD card drive, I just have a Canon Powershot camera that uses an SD card for storage and connects to the computer via USB, so I was wondering, is there any technique or program out there that would allow me to load files from the computer onto the SD card through the camera's USB? Or are those typically locked as a one way street?
View 14 Replies View Relatedi have returned all my photos into the new iphoto 9.1.However they aren't displayed the way they used to be. The computer is ignoring all the dates i entered on the individual film rolls and displaying them with date that's embedded on the digital images. An example is i have a film roll which contains photos of my cat Salem which range from 2004 to 2012. This 'folder' used to be displayed at the bottom of all the film rolls as i had it dated 12/25/2020 so i knew where it was and could add to it easily. Now though it's near the top lumped together with 2004 photos dated 2004-2012.How do i get iPhoto to display my photo film rolls the way they were on iphoto 6?I would go back to running TIiger and the apps that came with it including iPhoto 06 but i need snow leopard as i have bought two new Lacie 2 TB drives for storage and they need a newer operating system.

Just says error downloading image. If I go into bootcamp it imports fine on windows. How can i fix this? I would much like to have a way to take pictures directly from the camera rather than through iPhoto like in the finder. Is this possible as when i plug in my camera nothing comes up.

Is there a function in iphoto to delete photos already on a camera? I know it asks if you would like to delete after import but what if you decline and later change your mind? My camera, that I know of, can only erase one by one If iphoto can mass delete, that would be great
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently imported some photos from my camera, some in portrait some in landscape. When I preview the photos, the portraits automatically rotate in order to be on the upside. But when I use it as wallpaper, it doesn't rotate. Is there anyway to make all the portraits rotate for wallpaper?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am not able to get 20 pictures off my digital Kodak EasyShare DX4530 to my computer using a USB cable and ImageCapture or iPhoto. The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?

Had the same issue with previous system 10.9. Question was answered and it solved the problem, only until I reboot the computer. Then problem appeared again.
Installed 10.10.1 Yosemite and again my camera is no longer operating. I tried the previous method and used Disk Utilities to repair the permissions but it still does not work.

Since my last update in September or October (either to 10.9.5 or 10.10), I lost all built-in camera functioning. This past weekend, I updated to 10.10.1 (what a complete nightmare - that's another discussion) and still have no camera functioning.

I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
So I'm getting ready to buy a new digital camera (am upgrading from an older HP 5.1MP camera) and I can't seem to find a list which states which cameras are compatible with iPhoto. I'm running iPhoto '08 on a iMac G4 10.5.6 / MacBook Pro IntelCore.
So far I'm looking at Canon's PowerShot SD790 IS, and their PowerShot A590 IS. Does anyone know if these two cameras are compatible with iPhoto?
