I need to slurp off the 40+ gig music directory from the old machine as MA didn't get it ... and I figure direct eth-eth would be fastest.
if it does, do I just use network to find the other mac?
I'm sure this has been asked but I've looked through many of the pages on the news stories, and I've also looked on the OSX forums from today and didn't find anything, so . . .
I have three macs. An iMac for home, a personal MBP I use at work, and a mac mini connected to the TV. If I download an app from the Mac App store, will that work on all three of my computers? It appears to be setup similarly to the iTunes store, that each purchase is connected to your itunes account. If this is that case, then wouldn't one purchase work on all machines?
When I buy a movie from itunes I can play it on any computer (up to 5), along with any ipod, iphone, ipad.
I am using DVD decryptor to get some of my DVDs on my hard drive, (windows.) I am getting an iBook soon and wanted to know, do .VOB files work on Macs and if not, is there a way to convert them?

Apple may be laying the foundation for TRIM support in future Macs, a technology that should allow their solid state flash drives to maintain optimal performance throughout the life span of the systems. The Mac maker's most recent 13-inch MacBook Pros display an option for TRIM support in their system profilers on SSD-equipped models, one which isn't present in either the second-generation unibody 15-inch MacBook Pros or the latest refresh sporting Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors.TRIM is essentially a command that lets operating systems like Mac OS X inform SSDs of which blocks of pre-written data are no longer in use, allowing them to be wiped clean internally.

All works well in QT7Pro but if movie is played in QTplayer 10 it plays back in 720 x 576 again. How can i make the movie retain the correct aspect ratio for any QT player?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSafari plays .mp4's from the web just fine, but refuses to play or open them from my Mac file system. Same files!
Why? Do I have to embed the mp4's in an HTML5 wrapper just to play them from my disk? Or is there a workaround or Debug or Developer Tools to do this?
( I know I can play them in QuickTime Player, but I want to see them in Safari)

I have a DVD with a video on it that plays fine on a PC but on my Macbook Pro it says that it's a blank DVD and will not play the video that is on the disc. The video plays on Windows Media Player when I open it on a PC, so I installed the newest version of Flip4Mac thinking this would work, but the disc still shows up as a blank disc and cannot be played. I work in the legal field, so I got the DVD from an attorney, and I frequently tend to have problems opening videos on my macbook pro that come from the legal field.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recorded a single track on GarageBand, and I can only get the audio to come out of the left speaker. There is no sound of any kind coming out of the right speaker. If I pan the track all the way to the right, no sound comes out at all. I've tried duplicating the track and panning one all the way to the left, and then panning another all the way to the right, but I've had no luck with this either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis just happened today- I have a imac 21.5- and when I put in a DVD the movie worked but the color wheel would NOT go away. I tried everything from pressing ESC to trying to fast forward/rewind- nothing worked. I had to restart the computer by pressing the button on the back. I tried playing the DVD again and the color wheel came up. The DVD plays fine in other players.

My iMac sometimes will just randomly start playing music. This just recently started and I haven't made any hardware/software changes at all, last thing I did was update it for printer drivers and that was it. It usually plays at night when I'm sleeping and it starts with the song that's on the top of the list. I've restarted it and everything and can't figure it out. I always leave iTunes running because I have my iPad and iPhones set up for wireless syncing. So I usually just keep the sound off to prevent any random music playing. Oh and there is no remotes connected to it either....

I have a Mac Pro 5,1, 16 GB, 2T Startup Drive & three other drives for additional storage and Time Machine.
My finder & Dashboard quits and re-starts every time iTunes plays a new song. The screen goes completely gray & blank under whatever I may have open. It lasts only momentarily, but is quite annoying. As part of the troubleshooting, I ran Disk Utility. Checked permissions which were OK. Checked verify disk & got result that the disk is corrupt & should be repaired. When I tried to start my computer from the Recovery disk (using the Option key), it would not start (going instead to a gray patterened screen). I tried this several times & one time it did go to the screen showing the Recovery disk and my startup disk. But when I selected the Recovery disk, it went to the gray patterned screen again. I then connected my Mac Pro to my MacBook Pro & booted the Mac Pro to Target Disk mode. When I ran Disk Utility Repair Disk on the Mac Pro's startup disk, the result showed no problem with the disk. I'm not sure where to go from here, so I can use some help.

I have a Macbook about 2 years old. I was running 10.7.3. Today it started to play random music I've never heard quietly in the background even if I turned it off and upplugged everything. A buddy said to update to 10.7.4 to fix the "bug". I did and the music stopped about a 1/2 hour. Then started up again.

I just bought an external LG blu ray player and am trying to get it to work on my iMac. It only came with windows software, and having installed it on my windows partition, th best it will do is only play audio. I have snow leopard installed and there doesn't seem anything on it to play blu Ray discs. Is it a software or hardware problem? I have a radeon 1600 graphics card, is it too outdated now?

I don't know what else to do since i'm new with mac I also reseted the PRAM and it stopped for a while but now it started again. View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving an odd problem with Front Row. I have a G5 w/ dual 2GHz processors running the latest of Leopard. I've seen a lot of complaints about FR with laptops, but not much with towers. The menu system and interface works fine, but when I select a trailer to view, it comes up, but no video, only audio is playing. On other boards, some have said that it gets flaky with dual-monitor set ups, which I have. Does anyone know if Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to work a solution? Is there something I can do on my end to coax it into working?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.
2/3/12 8:48:09.366 AM [0x0-0x1f11f1].com.apple.iTunes: Returning 0x0. Advertising wake service for libraryIdentifier "EA6D19640E6DBDE0".
2/3/12 8:48:20.346 AM [0x0-0x1f11f1].com.apple.iTunes: Version from driver for Certificates 1
So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

This has happened for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8 I believe, and now that I'm using iTunes more often it's starting to get annoying. I will play an album in iTunes. Once the album finishes, instead of stopping playback, iTunes will play an apparently random song from my library (though each album seems to be linked to a different song, which changes every now and then. I've been unable to find any pattern). Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas? I don't think this is just a problem for me - it happens to some friends who have iTunes as well. I've searched on Google and on this forum and couldn't find any solutions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a bit of an old one I know. When I turn my Mac on it goes through the boot up process and as it about to come to the desktop image it selects the HD Mac as if I had pressed it with the mouse and then starts the cancel sound bonging away until I press the escape button on the keyboard. This normally keeps it at bay. Although on occasion it suddenly selects it again and starts playing the cancel sound again. When I unplug the keyboard it doesn't make that sound at all. I hate the wireless keyboard but wonder if I buy another wired one will it start making the same noise again?
