I'm trying to set up my old iBook G4 as a print 'server' for other Macs on my network. I'm having a problem getting the other computers on the network to SEE the shared printer from the iBook. They can see the iBook as a network computer, but can't seem to connect or even 'see' the usb printer. I've clicked 'Share Printers on the iBook in both Sharing preferences and the Printer and Fax preferences, but no luck.

I'm new to Macs, but have used iPad & iPhone for years now.Recently I got a new Macbook Air for myself, and a Mac Mini for my kids.I have a great Canon Multifunction printer (MF4150 I think), but it is USB only (No Wireless / No Ethernet) and is wired directly to my WinPC's USB port. So, I'm in the market for a COMPLETELY wireless printer. It does NOT need to be a multifunction device.I've perfectly happy with laser only, or with a printer that is economical with the black ink.It must be easy to setup on the Mac, my Windows PC, and my iOS devices.I'm not a novice with techie stuff, but am still very new to Macs.I can take some complexity, but whatever I buy I want to have good instructions, or very easy setup.Needs are fairly basic: Primarily document printing in B&W.If I get a color printer, it would only be used for color occasionally.

I'm on Yosemite; on both my iMac and MB Pro, I can't put the computers to sleep when it's connected to the wi-fi; I have to turn the wi-fi off, and then it'll go to sleep. I'd like to be able to keep the internet connected when want to do this.

I have my Mac Pro connected to my hp c3100 printer. It is shared, all sharing options are enabled on the Mac Pro. 2 Macbooks and an iMac cannot find or see this printer. Networking, screensharing, file transfers, they all work fine. Just can't see the printer. Is AppleTalk required to do this? Here's some screenshots from the Mac Pro. I have never tried to network a printer in Leopard, I seem to remember it was easier in Tiger.

MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.
AIRPORT says the following in System Profiler.
Software Versions:
Menu Extra:6.2.1 (621.1)
configd plug-in:6.2.3 (623.2)
System Profiler:6.0 (600.9)
Network Preference:6.2.1 (621.1)
AirPort Utility:5.5.2 (552.11)

At first i thought it must've been a hardware related thing but now it's happening on my new unibody MBP 17'' again too even though I hoped this issue would be fixed with SL.

I'm sure this has been asked but I've looked through many of the pages on the news stories, and I've also looked on the OSX forums from today and didn't find anything, so . . .
I have three macs. An iMac for home, a personal MBP I use at work, and a mac mini connected to the TV. If I download an app from the Mac App store, will that work on all three of my computers? It appears to be setup similarly to the iTunes store, that each purchase is connected to your itunes account. If this is that case, then wouldn't one purchase work on all machines?
When I buy a movie from itunes I can play it on any computer (up to 5), along with any ipod, iphone, ipad.

I need fast, double sided printing over wifi (b/g) with good support in 10.6.
Doesn't have to be a great photo printer, but I do need colour. Scanner needs to be good enough for docs.
I'd prefer it to work well with built-in software and not come encumbered with ancient clunky software that needs Rosetta.
I've currently got separate Cannon scanner/HP printer, but neither work well with 10.6 (eg no duplex printing on the HP).
Would appreciate up-to-date advice as most info out there on the interweb is vague or for 10.5.

I have a Apple mac and currently my Epson deskjet printer is connected to it via usb cable. My wife and I both have Windows XP laptops and I would like to know if it is possible to send word documents to the printer over the home wifi network. This would save having to take the usb connector out of the imac and plug it into the laptop, also the imac drives the Epson so much better than the HP laptop my wife uses. Then just to be brave is it possible to print documents directly from my iphone for super braveness, my wife's blackberry.

I just bought an iMac. my husband bought a Dell XPS 2730. Of course, we discovered that we could not both connect to our old printer without some very technical stuff beyond our ken. So we bought a new wifi direct Brother printer,I can't even see the printer from my iMac. I have downloaded the latest drivers for it from Apple. The printer is all set up and can see my iMac.

I am looking for a wireless printer as it will be downstairs with my iMac upstairs. Another capability that I would like my printer to have is CD and DVD printing so I can print onto DVDs that I make and burn on my iMac.

I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW WIFI printer which my iMac says it can't find sometimes when I want to print. I think I have narrowed the problem down to when my MacBook Air is on at the same time and using WIFI on the same network If I turn off WIFI on the MacBook I can print from my IMac. I am not sure if it is a router problem or what but we use the iMac and MacBook Air at the same time quite often. Checked on the Brother website - nothing.

My MacBook Pro OS 10.9.4 regularly "loses" my home printer, set up through my WIFI. Even though I can see it in the Printer Menu, it claims I am not connected. So, I delete said printer. When I go to add a new printer, it cannot find said printer and I cannot figure out how to manually tell it that it is sitting right here on my desk.

Apple may be laying the foundation for TRIM support in future Macs, a technology that should allow their solid state flash drives to maintain optimal performance throughout the life span of the systems. The Mac maker's most recent 13-inch MacBook Pros display an option for TRIM support in their system profilers on SSD-equipped models, one which isn't present in either the second-generation unibody 15-inch MacBook Pros or the latest refresh sporting Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors.TRIM is essentially a command that lets operating systems like Mac OS X inform SSDs of which blocks of pre-written data are no longer in use, allowing them to be wiped clean internally.
