View 2 RepliesSafari keeps changing the text field on input, do you know how to correct this issue?Â
Here is an example:
Let's say I load www.google.com, it appears in the safari window as usual.
Suppose I begin to type a search in the google search field at the top right of the safari window (not the one on the google page)
if when doing this the sentence is long for the search, at some point randomly, the rest of the text will be entered this time in the google search text field on the google page! (which is the very next text field) So when I hit enter it makes google search half of my request...
Safari changed the text field I was into with no warning. I want to say I do not press tab at any moment. This is annoying really, and this does not appear anywhere else than in Safari. It seems the issue is not systematic, but appears quite often.
I have no universal access setting except "enable access for assistive device" I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.Â
I was riding my motorcycle on new year's eve with my brand new 15" 2.8GHz i7/hi-res matte display/8GB RAM/500GB Momentus XT MacBook Pro in my backpack and crashed into a car at 45mph. My MacBook's unibody was bent badly in the corner where the hard drive resides and crushed the hard drive and superdrive and bent the aluminum LCD panel, but left the LCD screen, battery, RAM, and motherboard untouched. The top and bottom aluminum unibody case/panel are destroyed. So I'm thinking of replacing my hi-res matte LCD assembly (LCD plus aluminum cover) with the standard-res glossy version simply because it's cheaper. Is it possible to swap out the displays like this or will it cause a conflict with other components?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm internal-HD-shopping for a friend, and want to make sure I know: What terminology will identify drives I can put in this iBook? I know it's 2.5"--what else should I make sure of? Also--any kinds that would be better than others? It's a 14" G3 with Firewire and DVD-ROM. "New" as G3s go.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a WD 320 Gig 5400 RPM hard drive for my new White NVIDIA MacBook. I stuck it in an external casing, copied everything to it with the "restore" feature, and swapped out the hard drives. I rebooted the computer with the new hard drive, and it didn't work. I did some hard drive swapping last year on my old MacBook and everything was a breeze. I don't know what I did wrong this time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot make the text substitution feature to work. Specifically, the only substitution that is being done, is the one for "On my way!" which was there by default. Anything else I add is simply ignored. This happens in all applications (TextEdit, Mail, etc). Yes, I have made sure that all the right boxes have been ticked, etc.

Before I could just type "$ bbedit file" Now I tried reading and installing instruktions from google but it don't work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got a new uMBP, previous revision, and when I am using Safari (text zoomed in) and scrolling down the text is left in a "mess". Lines are cut in half horizontally, one line is on top of another etc. I saw it now and again with my classic MBP, but not nearly as bad.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my mac mini (10.6, safari 4), random websites (the same ones every time) always shows random letters in place of normal text. I went to the same websites on my other mac (10.6, safari 4) and same thing happened. I tried on my mac running (10.3 safari 3) and it showed normal text.

For some reason Safari is only loading the title of some website articles and not the text.
Don't know if its an issue with cookies or what, but it's really frustrating.
1st noticed it about a week ago when trying to load my local newspaper website....booted up FireFox for the 1st time in a long time and it loaded the news stories flawlessly.
The text on some websites comes up scrambled - as attached. What have I done to deserve this!? I don't know where to begin looking.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot find a way to select non-contiguous text in Safari. Select>Command>select does not work (as it does in Text Edit.
I am very surprised that I can't locate any information on this via google, yahoo, etc.
The only item I did find is something called "Safari Magic" but it looks pretty old and costs $19.
So here I am hoping to get "truth" from the source (or any kind person). I'm in Snow Leopard; Safari 5.1.5.

I know how to zoom in with the a/A option on Safari, but the zoomed in effect is only temporary. When I leave Safari and return I have to go through this each time.I know that Firefox can be set permanently to a certain text size (let's call it a permanently zoomed in size), but is that possible with Safari? If so,how?
View 6 Replies View Related"Resize at will.
Maybe the text field you're typing in is a bit too small to read. Or maybe you just have a lot to say. Either way, Safari lets you resize text fields on any website, just by grabbing the corner of the field. Resize a field and the web page reflows to make room."

Can anyone actually get this to work? I've never seen a website, Apple's included, that let's you do this feature. Yet it's listed on Apple's webpage.
Ever since the last security update, I have been having trouble with the text in part of a web page becoming garbled. It happens when I am scrolling through a page. I can fix it by highlighting the text and it will go away. It remains legible after I take the highlighting away. It does not happen every time I scroll, but it does happen randomly throughout the day. I have owned my Macbook for almost a year and this problem has only come up since the last security update.
View 7 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this happened because of the OS X 10.5.6 update, but I can't highlight text in a PDF in Safari and scroll (as in highlight and drag downwards like you would on any other webpage).
View 13 Replies View RelatedI often find myself searching for a piece of text that I wrote myself within a webpage. For example, when writing a long email in gmail, I want to look for a certain word I wrote somewhere in the middle. Firefox dynamically includes all the text that is present on the page (as opposed to just what's in the source of the page) and I'm wondering if there is a way to do that with Safari.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to safari. How does one scale text and images concurrently? I only seem to be able to scale text for the moment. I know this can be done in Mozilla. Can it not be done on Safari? I could of sworn it was possible on the display models in the Apple Store.
View 7 Replies View Relatedhaving my eyes get used to the 1900x1200 resolution in my 17" unibody macbook pro's screen is probably not good with the macbook air's 1280x800 resolution i use at home, so i need to press "cmd -" every time i browse some pages.
is there any way to make safari load pages with smaller text size? 1 press of "cmd -" is probably good enough.
Every once in awhile I'll go to a webpage (usually not the same one every time), and some of the text will be Scratchy looking (for lack of a better term). Kind of like those website verification systems where you have to type in the letters and numbers they give you, but there are lines scratched all over them so that bots can't read the picture and fill in the letters and text automatically. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about: The only thing that I can think of that might be causing this is that I have like 1,500++ fonts loaded on my computer and it might just be getting confused with all those fonts running simultaneously.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are a few websites that come up with unreadable text. I changed something the other day but it is now back to garble. Can you tell me what to do again, and how to keep it ungarbled?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my old PC I was able to search all the text on a given webpage by using control F. I am searching for a mac equivalent but have yet to find one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn safari for macbook pro, I can't seem to highlight text while scrolling down through to the end of a page. (Start at the top, click, hold, drag down). The highlighting stops at the bottom of what I see on the screen and can't go past to the bottom of the page. However, it works going upwards (start at the bottom, click, hold, drag up. I don't think it's a problem with the computer because, the highlighting works with all my other programs. It's just safari that's not doing it. I'm aware of the hold shift and click method, but I'm just used to the other way.

When i log on to safari, the font gets bigger like the text zooms in, how do i zoom out of text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Safari (4.0.4), if you are in the middle of a website that covers several pages and you enlarge the font, the text you are reading can shift off-screen.
If you do this in Firefox (3.5.7), the text that you are reading remains where it is.
The Firefox behaviour makes sense.
