Jan 2, 2009I would like to know which renders text better. In other words, where does text look better, on Safari or on Firefox 3.xx?
I am now using Firefox as my main browser and the things that bother me are the lack of Mac OS X integration (drop down menus, text boxes, no bouncing download icons, etc) but I can live without them because for me Firefox is technically superior...
I still have the impression though that the text renders best on Safari. Am I wrong? It seems to me that the character spacing works better on Safari than Firefox, not that the latter isn't any good. This thing could make me return to Safari again, so now I am trying Firefox out for the next couple of days.

Aug 2, 2010How do I get Safari to present auto-fill options in text fields like Firefox can.
Seems like a cookies thing but I think not because it presents me with all previous names I've used on other website's text fields before.
For example in Firefox if I go to sites I haven't visited before and I'm asked to type in my new username, as soon as I type the first letter, Firefox gives me options from previous text fields I've filled in before all over the net and unrelated to the site I'm on.

Dec 4, 2010I just got the new 15" mbp and noticed that safari top sites would scramble itself at times. I've looked around the net and seems like a normal occurrence for people with the new MBP's. My question is, what is causing it? And how do you get rid of it? Is it just a matter of turning off "automatic graphic switching" so it's running on the discrete nvidia card? Is it a software issue with flash or safari?

Feb 21, 2012Safari keeps changing the text field on input, do you know how to correct this issue?Â
Here is an example:
Let's say I load www.google.com, it appears in the safari window as usual.
Suppose I begin to type a search in the google search field at the top right of the safari window (not the one on the google page)
if when doing this the sentence is long for the search, at some point randomly, the rest of the text will be entered this time in the google search text field on the google page! (which is the very next text field) So when I hit enter it makes google search half of my request...
Safari changed the text field I was into with no warning. I want to say I do not press tab at any moment. This is annoying really, and this does not appear anywhere else than in Safari. It seems the issue is not systematic, but appears quite often.
I have no universal access setting except "enable access for assistive device" I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.Â
OS X :: Way To Incress The Text Size In Firefox?
Sep 12, 2009In my old age it is getting hard for me to read text on the screen. Is there a way to incress the text size in firefox (and in snow leopard in general) and have it be a forever change? Forever, I have been pushing cmd+ to make it bigger...but it is getting to be a pain to do that every time.

Nov 10, 2009New to Imac and love it so far. My only issue is that when I open firefox, the text is tiny and I can't seem to modify it. I've played around with fonts under preferences>content but that doesn't help. So far I have to manually hit commant and the + sign to get the text bigger.

Basically all characters turn to square boxes. Doesn't happen on Safari, seems to be Mac only too.

OS X :: Diablo To LOD Scrambled Graphics
Dec 26, 2007I have been trying to load Diablo II on a new 20" iMac with OS X v 10.5.1. I have attempted to load it a number of times, downloaded the patches and tried the "native" installer. The game appears to load properly; however, when we try to start the game it runs through the initial graphics (ads) and then shows a scrambled diablo page (looks like large square puzzle pieces placed in the wrong positions on the screen) and you can only escape to end the game form that point.

Mar 28, 2012I transferred korean music from my windows pc to my macbook pro. Not all but most of the korean fonts are all broken up and unreadable. I went to the apple store and they couldn't figure it out. I tried the id3 tags and reverse unicode and the whole 9 yards. I am able to type in korean and all and able to read all korean websites. its just some files in korean fonts that are unreadable.

MacBook Pro :: 2012 Retina Screen Getting Scrambled?
Sep 4, 2014I've been using my MacBook Pro 2012 Retina with an external monitor lately with the lid closed. Today I tried open the lid without having the external monitor connected and that worked fine for a few minutes. But then the screen got "scrambled".... It's hard to explain but it seems that some pixels are dragged vertically. See attached image. Doesn't seem to stop doing this. If I restart the computer it might look OK for a few seconds, but then it will start looking like this again. If I shut down the computer and wait a while until I turn it back on, it will stay OK longer, but will eventually start getting "scrambled" again.Â
Just as I was writing this question, using my external monitor, the scramble effect stopped and my MacBook screen returned to normal. Not sure how long it's going to last and I would still like to know more about this.Â
My MacBook is also really hot right above the F3-F7 keys.Â

Sep 7, 2007I have searched the threads for an answer, but found none for my issue. I downloaded the new Google Earth app to our new iMac (20", 2.4Gz, 2Gb). It started up fine and looked OK at first. As I zoomed in, the images began to fragment and scramble. The closer I go, the worse it gets. I tried adjusting settings and preferences in both the app and on the iMac. Nothing seemed to work. Any ideas? Oh, it was the latest version, 4.2 something, with the sky images.

Jun 25, 2014Since i updated to maverick last week i got an issue with the Mac Preview app, it opens the documents ok, but when opening several files at the time, the thumbnails are all scrambled and not showing the miniature of the selected file.Â
if i click on the thmbnails area and navigate with the keyboard's arrows it allows me to go through the open files, all files open ok but the thumbnails is the only part that is having this issue.Â
I have deleted the com.apple.Preview from ~LibraryContainers but still having the issue.Â

Sep 27, 2009I just got a new uMBP, previous revision, and when I am using Safari (text zoomed in) and scrolling down the text is left in a "mess". Lines are cut in half horizontally, one line is on top of another etc. I saw it now and again with my classic MBP, but not nearly as bad.

There is no sound when a video is playing in a browser, for example Utube, GoogleVideo, etc. That is so with all the browsers - Safari, Firefox, Navigator, Wyzo, etc. However the sound does play when playing a video under a normal video player - QuickTime Player, VLC, RealPlayer, etc.

Safari :: This (and Firefox) Keep Crashing
May 9, 2012My Safari has been crashing for MONTHS now but recently it would do so more when opening up Youtube on another tab, so I resorted to using firefox for that. But now Safari will crash for NO reason, I'd simply check my email then open another tab and BAM it crashes and lately it wont even let me send the report to apple! And on top of that Firefox wont even open for a second before that crashes too!
Also, I downloaded the new version of Flash, but it wouldn't work on safari and from reading on here I found out the new version wasn't compatible with my mac os x version so I uninstalled and reinstalled the old version like someone said to do and it worked for firefox but it still wasn't working for safari.
Anyways, I tried the "remove flackback" thing and it said "No flashback malware found"... so I have no clue what's going on.

Don't know if its an issue with cookies or what, but it's really frustrating.
1st noticed it about a week ago when trying to load my local newspaper website....booted up FireFox for the 1st time in a long time and it loaded the news stories flawlessly.
