View 4 RepliesOn every restart, Firefox opens by itself and installs itself in the dock no matter what I do. I've made sure the settings in Lion are correct for re-opening apps. Also, I tried to delete a line from a Stickie and it reappears on startup. It's just in my user profile. I created another test user and it didn't happen.

This is my biggest software design pet peeves. I hate when applications make too many choices for the user. Don't get me wrong, I don't like when a program asks the same question over and over again either. So I'm using firefox and I had about four or five windows open. And it froze up for over five minutes so I force killed it. When I opened it again it automatically tried to open all those websites I had open before - all at the same time. This isn't even a bug, it's the designers bad choice. I don't even need them open. I was only still using one. And I don't know which one caused the freeze (probably a flash heavy website like abercrombie) but I certainly don't want to open that one again. I'm trying to get Firefox to not do this anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time. Understand I am a novice user compaired to most so, here is what I've done so far. Deleted FF in Apps. (trashed)Deleted FF profile (trashed)Attempted stoping any process in the activity monitor(nothing there)Force quit FF (nothing there) Searched every place I can think of for any file named Firefox or Mozilla with no results.cannot find anything in a "profile" that looks FF related Tried re-downloading FF and re-installing(same error prompt) Tried restarting the comp I made the switch to Apple this year because owners and users of Mac seem to very proud of their product, so does Mac according to the price.

when tabbing through forms, Firefox will skip buttons, checkboxes, dropdowns. Basically, anything that isn't text input. Is there any way to change this so it stops at every field?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a brother MFC-240 printer which I loathe. It has been one driver issue after another since the day I got it. Anyhow, everytime I boot the computer up, the install wizard starts and tries to recognize the printer with some MFL Pro-Suite software (which never works). I have deleted the printer from system preferences, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to stop this MFL pro-suite software from trying to install with each restart. Once I get this sorted out, I will toss the printer onto the road, and never look back.
any thoughts?
So, when I start up my Macbook mid-2010, I log in first, and after 30 seconds the stop sign comes up. I am able to log in as a guest user.
When I load up the install disc of Snow Leopard and choose for Disk Utility, I can see the disk, but it sais it is not mounted? When I click on 'mount', it doesn't respond. see the following screenshot for more info:

Safari keeps reloading pages and then eventually shows "can't view webpage" I tried installing firefox, but it just crashers when i try going to websites. I've removed all internet plug-ins and get the same results. The last major updated that i did was the java update for the flashback virus that was going around.

When I log in using Lion, Mail, Entourage, and ICal open on my desktop.I already tried unchecking the restore windows box under system preferences/general; sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. The only way to stop it seems to be to uncheck the similar box that appears when you shut down the computer, but you have to do it each time, and I think it doesn't always work either. The options features in the dock items don't seem to work--they're already unchecked, and the windows still open. I don't want everyone else in my family to see my mail as soon as the computer opens and it's really annoying besides.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI had an image from an older macbook (10.5.4) and I put it in a newer MacBook which I assume was could not boot as far back as 10.5.4, so I updated it by booting 10.5.6 on an external and running the combo 10.5.7 update on the MacBook's internal drive. I boot and after staying on a blue screen for a while, it goes black and shows me a command prompt and I can see all the processes starting up. then it goes back to blue and works normally. On shutdown, I see the prompt again. I cannot boot into safe mode or single user mode for some reason. When holding down the s and shift it still does the same thing. I can however still use option to boot from a different drive.
The computer runs perfectly normally once booted. I just don't want to see the command line stuff. So is there some way to stop it, or hide it?

I am fairly new to the OS, just switched from a PC. I would like to know if I can set up a workflow so that with a speech command to my Macbook I can open a specific URL in firefox. How would I set that up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDo you all experience this much? I'll get pop-ups that make themselves new tabs, or separate windows themselves. I have the option checked to block them in preferences. Is there any add-on you all use that may help? I know some things are going to get through no matter what. So I just thought I'd see what others experiences' were.

I am at present studying Dreamweaver at home on my Mac Pro OS10.6.8.
Part of the process of making a webpage, one has to open it through the internet. Firefox is my choice but unfortunately when pressing F12, Firefox opens but does not open my Dreamweaver based work.
I have searched online and it appears quite a few years back alot of people were experiencing the same with their (now older) versions of Firefox.
