OS X :: Settings For The Download Popup From Dock?
Dec 2, 2009
I've recently been trying to figure out how to set up the downloads menu that pops up from the dock. After some downloads, it is just way too big and I can't find out how to set it so it only shows the last 14 downloads, for example.
I want to set my dock to default settings Basically, I want my dock to look exactly like it did when I first turned on my mac for the very first time. I want all the items I added to the dock gone, and all the default ones I removed back in the dock. I know I can do it manually, but I want to know if there's a way to do it via terminal or something like that.
I have no idea how this came to be, but my dock no longer has the system settings / control panel icon, and I have no way to access any of my system settings now. Using Snow Leopard. Has anyne seen this happen before and does anyone know how I can undo this?
the application dock at the bottom of the screen has disappeared on my MacBook Air. Even if I go into system preferences and click the dock setting to show the Dock bar on the screen it still doesn't appear.
I want to change the download settings of Firefox for certain types of files. For example right now I have any .docx files to just download. I rather change it to always just open since it saves it when it does that anyway. How can I do this?
ok so i accidentally drag the download folder into the finder window and then it's gone! it's not in the finder under user. i tried searching for it in finder and it's not there!! it's not in the trash. so i try searching for the contents that were in my download folder, and it's there but the folder is still gone.
does anybody know of software that will download a web site if given the path? For instance, I want to download the tutorials of an open source project. But it is online only. If I can download it to my laptop, I can read it while I telecommute on the train.
i beilieve it has to do with the port forwarding of my router (correct me if i am wrong). i can get into where to configure the setting of the router, but idk what exactly to do. i have a time warner cable supplied router, its an ambit DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant.
New to Safari. I originally moved the download file off of Dock, but now would like to put back. I found it in Finder and was able to place it on the desktop, but am unable to put it on the Dock.
I know this is probably an easy answer but when i first got my aluminum mac book there was a download folder on my dock and it showed a whole list of all my downloads but i must have removed it from the dock. How do i get it back ?
My download folder has somehow been removed from the dock and replaced with a big question mark ? Downloads no do not go directly to the dock which is useful although they can be found in Finder. Does anyone know how I can reinstall a blue download folder back to the dock which will receive all my downloaded items.
My download folder used to be in my dock. I have opened it in finder, dragged to desktop, but still can not drag it to my dock. Not sure why it disappeared from the dock and cant get it back.
Apple Mail keeps re-downloading all Gmail messages, even those that I've already deleted. If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.
I'm subscribed to about 10 differet podcasts, and I just realised that there hasn't been a new episode of any of them in a while. I right clicked them all in turn, and chose Update Podcast, and lo and behold, a whole slew of episodes started downloading. For some of them there are even more than 1 episode that hasn't downloaded. Can anyone tell me why iTunes doesn't automatically download new episodes of these subscribed podcasts? iTunes is set to check everyday for new episodes, but simply seems to have not bothered! This has happened a few times before too.
EDIT - From iTunes saying that there are no new episodes of any of my subscribed to podcasts, I've ended up with 20 downloads after manually checking.
i've been using liteicon and iconfinder.com to change my dock icons. for those who are familiar with using liteicon, im only able to change the finder, dashboard, trash empty/full, "url"??, and widget icons. these are easy to change with a simple dragging and dropping of the icon you want onto the icon you wish to change. but as for the other icons you may have put on your dock, im totally lost on. for an example, i've been trying to change my ichat icon, and ive read to click "get info" on the icon i chose to change it to, and click command + c, then go to the original ichat "get info" and click edit, then command + v (copy + paste obviously) and it's not working? i'm totally lost on how to change such icons that aren't listed in the liteicon application! the other question is how do i change the application/document/download icons on the dock? even through liteicon, i'm not able to change it. do i need a certain kind of file type?
Now I accidentally removed the downloads menu from the dock and then I put it back but now when I download files from the internet it doen't always start from the first it
Sometimes, after downloading an app from the Mac App Store, the progress bar keeps saying it's almost downloaded but not finished. The only workaround I know is restarting the computer.  The icon remains this way:
Mavericks 10.9.4 running on a early 2009 iMac.

I have a download folder on my dock and also on my desktop. When I click it open there is nothing there. However, when I go over to the left hand sidebar of Finder and I click on the Downloads (down arrow) label it brings up all my downloads. I used to have a spring loaded icon on my dock ... now its just empty unless I press the Downloads (down arrow) label in Finder. How can I restore the original download folder that was spring loaded on my dock?
Info: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)
When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw
I have a G5 Duel 2GHz Power PC, Recently I was losing the time, date and wireless settings so I assumed as my machine is now 4 years old the PRAM battery was up for renewal. This has now been replaced but I'm still losing my settings, not all the time but randomly, sometimes I lose my wireless key sometimes I lose time and date sometimes both, this can happen daily.
I have removed the (New) Battery and checked the voltage and it reads 3.6 Volts, I haven't checked this under load though, so presuming that the battery is OK, what else could cause this.. a failing System Board?
