I thought I was moving something else to the recycle bin & at the last second realized I was dragging the stacks icon.
Was successful in missing the bin but must have dropped it off the dock & now I can't figure out how to replace it.
I would actually prefer to just have a 'shortcut/icon' for 'my pictures' there instead, as 99% of the time I clicked stacks I would go there.
I have an IMAC with OS X Version 10.5.8
How do I get document and download stacks back on my dock?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI just accidentally removed my SD card from my USB reader when I was zeroing out data from it. I've inserted it in again and have now zeroed out the data about 4 times in the MS-DOS format, now whenever I try to insert it into a camera or printer it will say it's not useable despite being able to use it on my Mac. Any ideas? I'd rather not have to go buy another SD card.

Is it at all possible to right click documents from the documents stack? For instance, I'd love to be able to quickly right click and open certain .pdf files in preview directly from stacks. Instead, I'm forced to go specifically into the finder and right click there and select open with.

What does this icon look like ?
My stacks have disappeared from my dock. I used to automatically get my downloads on the dock and they fanned out when I clicked on it. That is gone now... not sure if I did something to get rid of it, but I want it back.

I downloaded a folder icon so I can use it on my dock. I used one that looks different from the usual blue folder. When I shut down the computer or restart it goes back to the bland blue folder. My questions is how can I keep the folder that I downloaded?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.5.2 just about an hour ago, and I've noticed that my Dock is having serious Stacks problems now. If I have the Stacks set to List, there's no problem, but if I try to use fan or grid, the whole Dock freezes and I have to force-quit it from Activity Monitor.Anyone else having this problem? I'm experiencing it on both my Power Mac G5 and on my MBP.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my white MacBook (OS X 10.5) with a new MacBook.
In the old dock:
I had created a folder within the HD called "launcher"--so it would appear at the top of the list. I created a custom icon for the folder, created an alias on the desktop. I then put the alias in the dock. When I would click on the folder it would open like stacks.
New dock:
If I do the above process, the folder opens as a finder window--no more stacks. If I pull the folder directly to the dock, without creating the alias, the folder opens as a stack, but the icon is gone and replaced with the generic folder icon.
Is there a way to have a custom icon and have the stack/folder open as stacks? I don't like the option of putting a image file as the first item in the folder because then the "icon" that appears is smaller and in front of the folder I hate.
I have just installed Mavericks, and by mistake I removed the downloads stack from my dock. I want to get it back but how.

Whenever I go into iTunes I get a message that there is a download that still needs to download. this is from an album I purchased over a year ago. For some reason the album downloaded but it is still sitting in the download que. So everytime I open iTunes it ask for my password in order to complete the download. How can I just delete the thing? When I right click and select delete from the drop down menu it goes away until I close iTunes and open it back up again. When I actual try to download the purchase I get the following message:

i am wondering if there is a way to organize my dock icons in a better way and am familiar with the obligatory use of "stacks" for my Applications and Downloads etc. is there one way or various ways to handle this if I want to group icons in my dock? i found a url that describes how to do this by dragging apps from the applications folder but since i have already spent so much time doing this in the dock itself it it going to be a major pain to have to pick these out from around the ones that i am not keeping in my dock.
