I have a download folder on my dock and also on my desktop. When I click it open there is nothing there. However, when I go over to the left hand sidebar of Finder and I click on the Downloads (down arrow) label it brings up all my downloads. I used to have a spring loaded icon on my dock ... now its just empty unless I press the Downloads (down arrow) label in Finder. How can I restore the original download folder that was spring loaded on my dock?

I have a new 21.5" iMac and have been playing around with everything. When I started two weeks ago I had an Apps folder with the Apps logo on the dock to the right of the dotted separation. All the applications are there lined up with the first application showing but for my consternation I cannot put the Applications in there folder like it was when I started out two weeks ago. This is the Snow Leopard OS.

This is crazy but an entire folder is missing from my tool bar menu. I looked in every folder as well as organized and unorganized folders but can't find it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to click on my iPhoto application and it wouldn't load, it had a gray question mark on it. I clicked it again and it got dragged onto finder, and when I released my mouse it made a poof sound. I remember doing this in the beginning when I got my laptop if you wanted to get rid of an application from the dock. I went to the Mac HD and went to applications and where iPhoto used to be, is now blank. I searched in Spotlight, and went to Applications<utilities.
Is there somewhere where I can re-download it from the Apple site? Or do I have to totally reformat my computer to bring it back to me.
LOL may sound funny, but accidentally deleted my downloads folder. Trying to locate it and put it back on the dock, where is it? Am running Leopard os....l feel stupid, been trying to find it via spotlight but get the itunes download folder which isn't the one l deleted..

If I want to find my downloads folder i have to search the finder for it. How do I get it back into the dock as a stack?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my white MacBook (OS X 10.5) with a new MacBook.
In the old dock:
I had created a folder within the HD called "launcher"--so it would appear at the top of the list. I created a custom icon for the folder, created an alias on the desktop. I then put the alias in the dock. When I would click on the folder it would open like stacks.
New dock:
If I do the above process, the folder opens as a finder window--no more stacks. If I pull the folder directly to the dock, without creating the alias, the folder opens as a stack, but the icon is gone and replaced with the generic folder icon.
Is there a way to have a custom icon and have the stack/folder open as stacks? I don't like the option of putting a image file as the first item in the folder because then the "icon" that appears is smaller and in front of the folder I hate.
For some reason, my applications folder disappeared from the dock. I've tried to drag it back, next to the trash, but it won't settle there.
