Not sure if this has been talked about a bunch but I have noticed that the scrolling is very jerky in Chrome but in Safari its smooth. Btw both are updated to the current version. Could anyone else chime in if they have seen this problem or are currently experiencing this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried both of these browsers and I like Chrome more in almost every aspect except one. Because of this aspect, I continue to use Safari.
I don't know if this is the official name of the feature but it seems logical to me. Autocomplete or autofill.
Basically, when I am typing a URL in Safari, if the URL is in my bookmarks or history it will complete the rest of the address for me and all I have to do is hit enter.
For example, I have [URL] in my favorites. I type "fa" and safari fills in the rest, I just hit enter and I'm there.
I cannot seems to find a good browser, yes I know Safari 5 is decent but as my wife just noted me today.
It seems that it cannot "multi-task' with tabs, what I mean she opened 2 flash games from Facebook in two tabs, so while 1 tab is playing the game the second one stands still on loading screen. I have decided to test if that was the Facebook problem and loaded 2 games in separate tabs from other game website, to my surprise same result.
Im also experiencing some issues with youtube, while Im loading video sometimes it stops loading video half way through or may be 40%.
Chrome, well its ok but sometimes it slows on flash as well.
Now the real issue I'm having is from Firefox; I have the latest version installed I think 3.6. After a few minutes it starts to get slow, later on it stops responding to the point that my dock and apple bar just freezes. The only solution is to activate spaces, move to empty space and force quit it.
I currently own a late 2008 15 inch macbook pro. It's my first Mac, and I'm very satisfied with it.
I recently downloaded Safari 5 and have been less than impressed. I find the performance extremely sporadic: sometimes very fast, sometimes painfully slow. I have also lost Youtube and Justintv functionality, and since I take online courses the video sites are imperative for me.
I've re-loaded Firefox and also Chrome, and over the last three days seem to be leaning towards Chrome for its balance of speed and overall functionality.
I'm using chrome 5 and the scrolling seems a bit choppy for the hardware. I mean it's not fluid.

I'm running 10.5.2 ... and i've only seen the problem on macbook pros, but the apple support doc implies that it's an os x issue with ATI video cards.
While scrolling in Safari 4 the windows stutters or tears. I didn't have this problem with Safari 3, and I have reset Safari and cleared the Cache. I also get "Keychain Not Found" popping up when I load a new page. It IS out of beta right.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince installing Safari 5, I encounter the spinning beach ball when I try to scroll down a webpage or scroll between tabs. It appears that I cannot scroll/switch until the webpage is fully loaded.
This is extremely annoying because when my gestures are finally registered, Safari goes wacko trying to catch up with the previous gestures/commands. For example, if I use a swipe gesture to navigate between tabs, when Safari becomes responsive again, it will register all previous swipes and rotate between tabs until it 'catches up'. I hope that makes sense.
When I use Firefox, there is a slight lag, but I'm still able to scroll with only slight choppiness. By contrast, Safari 5 literally freezes for about 5 seconds. As a benchmark, I tried using both browsers while loading [URL]. Firefox worked fine, Safari 5 was crippled.
Before I installed the Logitech software, it was perfect. But without the Logitech software, the other buttons didn't work.
After installing the software, I noticed the scrolling to be very very slow in Safari. Even after maxing out scroll speed in system pref. and the logitech soft, it's still slow!
Every time I scroll down in Safari using the blue bar, the window moves. Is this a problem with the trackpad settings (I have 13" MBP '09) or what?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn safari for macbook pro, I can't seem to highlight text while scrolling down through to the end of a page. (Start at the top, click, hold, drag down). The highlighting stops at the bottom of what I see on the screen and can't go past to the bottom of the page. However, it works going upwards (start at the bottom, click, hold, drag up. I don't think it's a problem with the computer because, the highlighting works with all my other programs. It's just safari that's not doing it. I'm aware of the hold shift and click method, but I'm just used to the other way.

However, along with mouse gestures, the thing that is really holding me back is that there doesn't seem to be auto-scrolling. The little icon that pops up when you press the middle mouse button and scrolls the page automatically. Is there really no auto-scroll or am I missing something?

Closed all webpages with Flash on them and the problem's still there.
Also tried resetting Safari and emptying it's cache. It made it faster for a few minutes, but then the slowness was back.
Can it be related to my hard drive (got almost no page-outs)?
Scrolling pages is jerky. It can't even keep up with my typing speed. When I am done writing a sentence, I wait and watch it type back to me. This list of websites that don't work completely correctly also is growing. These do not happen in Firefox...I hate to abandon Safari and lose all my bookmarks. What can I try to do?

I'm sure there's a proper term for it, but what I mean is when you press down on the scroll wheel and a circle appears on screen with two arrows, when you move your mouse up or down it allows you to scroll through long documents quicker. I think Firefox and Internet Explorer have it.
I read that USB Overdrive might be of use, but it wont recognise my mouse (Logitech MX 620).
Ive updated safari to 8.01 this morning, and now when using safari, after a few minutes the multi gesture functions on my trackpad stop working. I can scroll down pages, flick across windows etc. even the accuracy of the cursor is limited (in editing this i tried to highlight some text to delete, but i had move about 10characters the left to get the ones i wanted).Â

I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro and I've been using Safari as my default browser. Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. I still wanna use it as my default browser but not sure if it's as good for the Macbook as it is for Windows. I know both are fast browsers but which is the best one for the Macbook? I have an Early 2011 13in MBP.For the last two days, I have had issues with web pages not loading on my MBP. Sometimes I can get a page to load and then after a few minutes of web browsing, the pages will no longer load. I was able to get the issue to "reset" by turning the wifi off and then back on, but now the pages will not load at all.
I tried using Google Chrome and Safari, but both browsers have the same issue. The last time that I used the computer was Friday. I did install a CAC reader on Friday and was able to use the computer that morning, but since yesterday the pages have stopped loading.
