View 24 RepliesI have a lot of things showing up which i deleted the folders for, yet they are still in the update list. I don't want to just hide them, I want them gone from the list.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't get any of the apps off the dock. I've tried clicking and dragging them outside the dock and a little cloud of smoke appears near the mouse cursor. But then, When I release the app, it just pops back to the dock. I have tried dragging it to the trash too.
I'm trying to remove some apps from launchpad. I can't find them in the applications folder or anywhere with finder. Tried dragging them to Trash but they just 'fly' back to the Launchpad.

View 5 Replies View Relatedas an extension to my question regarding RAM utilization, I've decided to upgrade my RAM. I went through the process of removing the underside of my MBP. After taking the screws out and mentally marking which slot they came out of (some are of different size), I pulled the lid up at the black trim area (the "neck" of the display mount) as this was the easiest way to get a non-damaging grip on the metal underside -- read: I avoided using a screw driver on the lid. As I started to lift, I was surprised at the amount of force I needed to use in order to remove the lid; something near the center of the cover was still holding the lid to the underside of the body. In fact, the amount of force I needed to use made me pause to question if I missed an important step other than simply removing the screws. I decided to "go for it" and applied more pressure while pulling the lid up and away from the body and heard a "pop" noise.

Under purchases I'm getting "you have not purchased any apps." Under Itunes in the Cloud all my apps are listed as hidden but when I click "view hidden purchases" it says I do not have any hidden purchases. I have three Macs and all are experiencing the same issue so this is an account problem and not a computer software problem. The funny thing is that it's still recognizing updates.Yes, I've tried signing out and back in to view my account with no luck. The only thing I did weird last night was I disabled the Itunes store and automatic downloading on one computer. This morning when I had the above problem I put all the settings back.

I have no idea what happened. it was working fine last week, and then the other day I tried to open up iMovie and i get "The operation could not be completed / An unexpected error occurred (error code -10810)" This happens every time i try to open anything in my applications folder. the programs on my dock open up fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a way to keep distraction to a minimum when working. I'd like to have an app (or a setting) that enables me to automatically hide any apps that I switch out of. Are there any apps or hidden settings within OS X out there that would solve this issue for me? I know about Spirited Away, but it doesn't work for me and hasn't been updated in a while.
I'm running OS X v10.6.1.
I have a new 21.5" iMac and have been playing around with everything. When I started two weeks ago I had an Apps folder with the Apps logo on the dock to the right of the dotted separation. All the applications are there lined up with the first application showing but for my consternation I cannot put the Applications in there folder like it was when I started out two weeks ago. This is the Snow Leopard OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I have to install some applications via MacPort, such like ImageMagick, however, I saw other applications(e.g. vi, vim, etc) also available via macport, there are already built-in programs like vi, if I install something via macport which are already built-in, will there be any problem or the newer ones just overwrite old ones?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:
Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.
There are two reasons for this:
1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.
So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

Besides using mac os to install & uninstall apps, what are the best apps out there that can; dwonload from the internet & off a thumb drive all types of files like dmgs, zip files & other odd files types, & install them properly on my mac
And a app that properly & completely uninstalls apps, without leaving thngs in the registry
On my MacBook Pro (Late 2007, Discrete, Snow Leopard), Adobe Photoshop CS5 keeps removing itself from my dock for no reason. I'll drag the app to my dock and within about 5 seconds, the app simply disappears from the dock. I have tried dragging it back multiple times, restarting my computer, etc, but it always disappears within about 5 seconds.

I'm trying to remove the front fan assembly on the 2006 Mac Pro and it's giving me a hard time. The top part near the screw popped out easy but the bottom is stuck. I'm not sure how much force to use or in which direction to pull, straight out of the case (2) or upwards toward the hard drive bays (1)?

I separated the whole reason for what I want to do in that quote, or if you would like to help me you can go directly to my question below.I have a Mac mini, and connected in it I have a 500GB firewire drive from Iomega, from which I run OSX Leopard. The internal 80GB drive is used for some backups. I've been on this configuration for about 4 months. But now the firewire drive is really driving me nuts because of its noise. It's just so incredibly noisy when the computer is doing ANYTHING at all. Opening any application makes me feel the computer is slow because it looks like it's going to explode of so much disk reading/writing. When I used the Mac mini it was all smooth and silent.

I want to completely remove final cut studio from my machine before I install Logic Studio. I used App Cleaner and then emptied the trash.
But still, when i put in the Logic install disc, it says it detects an install of Final Cut Studio 2 or older.......
And in software update it still has updates for final cut. But with the application being removed it shouldn't try to upgrade it right?
What else do I need to do to get everything off my machine?
