I am trying to delete an application icon in my menu bar (the top right with the little icons for battery, sound, airport, finder, date and time). For apple applications the command and drag (and move works) is good, but the others don't respond (installed a canon printer/scanner). So, how do I delete (which is what I want now) or move them around (for future) the icons?

I just want to know where the menu bar icon .png files are so that I can customize them a little with photoshop.
Today I restore from a Backup, and the icons despair from the right side of the menu bar, I go to system and I check the network to appear in the menu bar but the apply tab is not hightligted I try with other with the same result

Now for some reason the Eject icon is on the far right where Spotlight should be. Also the keyboard shortcut is not working. To do a search I have to now go to the finder and hit Command-F. I really miss not having Spotlight

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was in bootcamp using windows xp when I got the bluescreen of death and when my MacBook Pro booted up and back into OS X I found my menu bar no longer contained anything but the bootcamp and spotlight icons. Airport, date and time etc. are all turned on in system prefs but don't appear: You can also see the Skith icon present here as that's what I'm using to take the photo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy menu bar icons have disappeared after installing Snow Leopard. How to get them back. WiFi, Spaces, Volume, Battery and Spotlight blinks on and off. Black Macbook running Leopard with the standard upgrade to Snow Leopard was done. Have an iMac and seems to have everything working on it and did the same upgrade. Both are having small glitches in Safari, but can deal with. It's the no battery and WiFi that's really bugging me. Turning iStat Menus off solves the problem with missing Bar Menu icons.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLately the menu bar will randomly throw in a huge gap between icons. Initially I thought it was a specific app, but now it's happening with all sorts of random icons there...definitely not the same icon each time.
The icons you see on the left are the ones I launched after the gap appeared.
Restarting my machine seems to be the only solution to removing the gap.

I've also tried trashing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist pref but that didn't do the trick.
Does anyone know a way to hide/get rid of third-party menu bar icons? It seems like every developer out there wants to create a menu bar icon for things that are completely unnecessary, and only half of the time do they have an option for turning it off. Does anyone know of a way to just hide the icon completely? Or hack the application's resources to not display it?

If I force a shutdown and restart, everything comes up normally. This doesn't happen every time I restart, but it has started only recently. I've repaired permissions already.

I upgraded to OSX Lion and my only issue so far has been after a restart the airport icon and battery/power (time remaining icon) do not load in the menu bar for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute after the desktop has loaded. I will be get an IP address and establish a connection but I am unable to use the airport menu bar prefrences until the after I wait for the icon to load. It's rather annoying when I need to select a particular wi-fi SSID after startup.
Completed PRAM reset, disk repair, and disk utility verification.

Is it ok to organize the applications folder by making sub folders and dragging the apps into them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved from Tiger to Snow Leopard when I bought my new computer. Tiger all I had to do was click arrange by date once and it always did it. And if i moved a file from the folder all the other files moved up so there wasn't a blank space where the original file had been. In Snow Leopard I have to manually tell it to arrange by date each time and in every window. I want all the finder windows this way and I do not want an annoying empty space left when i move a folder. I know there has got to be something extremely simple I am over looking. Anyone know how to fix my problems?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to find out some of your opinions on a basic approach to organizing images I am considering doing with my images in iPhoto '08...any pros and/or cons you can respond back. I am looking at my events in iPhoto and I see about 7 different one's for each of 7 different weddings I've attended; I see about 30 total events for each of the major family holidays over the last several years (X-Mas, etc.); and so on and so on. I was thinking about perhaps keywording each of the images in each of the wedding events using the names of the people who got married, then simply merging all 7 wedding events into a single event (perhaps creating an album out of each before doing so)...I'd then do the same thing for each of the family holidays (merging 30 events into a single event, after keywording appropriately and creating albums out of each event as necessary). Anyone have any thoughts on this approach? Pros? Cons?

It's really an overt ommission intended to get people to abandon their folder structures and have itunes take control. Anyways I've held off since I've built up a good system which works for me and I hoped that maybe one day it would get patched into it. Well it didn't look like they'd ever put it in so I started looking around for alternatives and I found one which works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used my iPhone 4 to record some video taken over a vacation in hopes of making a movie whenever I could. Today, I imported my videos from my iPhone into my Macbook Pro using iPhoto, and then iMovie automatically synced the videos just placed in iPhoto First of all, I posted the exact same topic in the "Digital Media" section, however it's been about two weeks since, and I've received no response due to the section's user traffic, or lack thereof.
Now, my problem is that I recorded about 5-6 hours of footage and iMovie has it all in one location called "iPhoto Videos." Furthermore, whenever I click into that location (folder), iMovie lags ridiculously it's very hard for me to navigate between the various days as it's all compiled into one location/folder.
Also, I'd like to mention that I've made movies before, however they were neatly organized by date as I was able to import the footage straight to iMovie instead of iPhoto (using a digital camera with a video recording feature).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mac took a crap and had to rebuild the os. I have all my itunes music tagged properly with embedded album covers in the mp3 files and everything.
I want to have my music in this order: artist (alphabetically) ,year (ascending 2001 to 2008 for example for each artist) and albums that have various artist with them with to stay grouped together in itunes. Even though I click make a compilation. It wont order that way. I had it last time.
For example UNKLE's war stories has various artists collaborating on the album, it stays spread apart...I want it to be listed together as one album and not spread apart. But, i want to keep the artist names.
